Alex, this is everything any golfer needs. Understanding I must flow to the target while keeping the lead side and chest down and finishing with straight arms a few feet in front of the ball was like magic for me! I was mashing my irons, taking nice straight shallow divots just beyond the ball and consistently striking irons not just purely but almost perfectly. I heard a click and felt nothing, it was amazing. I looked up and the ball was already 50 yards away before I located it. If I may, I would add that you must commit totally to doing this. Don't hesitate or hold back, "trust". Let the energy flow through the ball to the target and stay down through the ball to a straight arm finish and the ball explodes off the club, absolutely astounding! Thank you my friend.
Love this and thanks so much for letting us know. And you are spot on.. committing to the event and task as well as the direction will yield the very best results. Very well done sir and keep at it!!
this guy is one of the best instructors. Honestly, every video. I've been playing for 35 years with low handicap but still learn and get reminded of the key simple things to remember when playing rather than a mild-melted with thoughts
Very kind of you to say and I appreciate you. Glad it’s resonated and helped! Keep at it:)
Totally agree
Totally agree. Sometimes I focus so much on different things I have to remember his videos to put me back in reality.
Short, sharp, to the point. No frills. Great tips. You speak to us like a normal bloke, not overly PC with choice of words. Two thumbs way up.
Much appreciated thank you and glad it resonated 🏌️♂️👍
He is my favorite instructors on here. He speaks in easy to grasp bites size nuggets of info. Every time I go to the range or go to play I review one of these videos before I go out. not turning your shoulders or striking pure irons are 2 of my favorites.
I go out and stripe the ball after these! It's just AMAZING GREAT instruction! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
I wish I'd found these videos about four years ago. I was getting close to a 15 handicap...my swing had flaws, but I at least had consistent swing thoughts. I found some golf coaching vids on here that improved my driver swing massively (added close to 30 yards right away), so I started watching more...a LOT more. Fell down the rabbit hole. Got so much information that I started second-guessing EVERYTHING about all of my swings. Dropped to worse than a thirty handicap and I've been struggling to get back to where I was ever since.
Simplicity is something I really need. So much of what I've seen in the couple of your videos I've seen is saying the same things, in terms of swing thoughts (like "Release at your target") that I was using before I binged all those other videos. Looking forward to getting some simple instructions that will cut down on my second-guessing.
Well that sucks. Unfortunately it happens to many many golfers. Maybe that helps console you ;) the thing is, you have seen the light as it were. That you know your swing and style.. it’s just keeping it natural and simple with guardrails and principles. Ones that you can remember and apply easily.
I’m sure we can help you here and when ready, in our Online Club or programs too:)
Good to watch you focusing on typical shortcomings of the average golfer. Easily worth a handful of shots each round and all demonstrated without fuss or too much preening. Definitely coming back for more.
That’s great to hear and thanks for being with us! Hope it helps and keep at it 🏌️♂️🏌️♂️👍
I love your videos. At 71 yrs young I've just started playing effortless golf better than ever before in my life. Retirement is brilliant thanks to you.
Why thank you kindly ! Well done for using the things that make it enjoyable and simple! Keep at it and thanks for being with us 🏌️♂️👍
there are 100 good teachers here but you have the real gift of intelligible explanations and, above all, of explaining feelings! Thanks for all!!!
Well I appreciate that very much!
Alex this is the best video on UA-cam. I've just got back from playing today and I've never hit the irons so well . The 2nd tip about the weight shift really changed my striking. Keep up the good work 👏
Well done you!!! Keep at it and glad yo are with us her. Maybe the Online Club will be good when you are ready to take to next level. Cheers!
Great coaching. I am from Québec City in Canada. I am 74 and your coaching help me to better understand the swing of golf with an easyest way. Thank you.
Happy to help and thanks for sharing. Keep at it. 🏌️♂️👍 merci!
I focused primarily on just looking one inch in front of the ball, and it resulted in the purest iron contact I've ever had the last time I played. Still incorporating more flow and working through old bad habits, but it was so encouraging to finally make great contact with my irons. Thanks!
Excellent and a new release is coming that discusses it a bit more:)
The 1 inch in front of the ball I am going to try. Does this also work for the driver?
Ok, I stopped the video and went out in the back yard and tried tip one and I was immediately hitting ahead of the ball and following through!!! Each of a dozen swings was perfect- finished well forward and followed through (I have not been following through, probably because I was hitting down!). I’ll try this at the range with a ball!!! :)). Geoff
How good is that! Excellent and don’t “try” too hard but let us know how it goes
150% the best golf Instructor i've seen on here. Once upon a time i was a 5 handicapper and fairly decent at nurdling a golf ball around a course. Now i hit at the ball so hard I develop strain in my forearm like a tennis elbow. This brought me back to collecting the ball and completing my swing. Fantastic instruction and easy to do
Too kind!! But most importantly I’m delighted it’s got you back on track and the swing feel that works for you. I’m sure we can help you further too with other lessons and our online Club for the next level :)
Your description of hitting down on the ball fit me perfectly. I tried your method of focusing one or two inches before the ball and had my best game in over two years. I hit through the ball and got great height and distance with my irons and driver. Now I will try to refine that method with each club.
Thank you so much!
Very well done Mark! Glad to have nudged you in the right direction
This is totally amazing, Alex your broke the swing down perfectly for me to work on 😊
Delighted to hear it!
Thank you, Alex. Your teaching has made golf instruction concepts I have struggled for decades to comprehend and implement intuitive and attainable.
Wonderful and thank you kindly!
Your instructions have really helped me. My swing has always been very mechanical with focus on hitting at the ball. Your concept of flow back and through the ball has really helped me. You're the best teacher on You Tube.
Great to hear and too kind! Glad you are with us and keep at it;)
Thank you for this timely lesson. All I need now is to apply the concepts you've presented.
Let me know how it goes
Crystal clear as always love your content and easy to understand.
Glad to hear it!
Thumbs up for one of the best golf instruction video on the net.
Thank so much! Sorry so late
Hi Alex, I watched this video about a month or so when it came out, so I thought I would come and say a huge thank you to you for reminding me what I had forgotten after all the years of me playing in fact 61 years of playing, so one again thank you
Well that’s excellent to hear! I’m glad it resonated and appreciate you coming back to share. Keep at it 🏌️♂️👍
excellent explanations Alex, I think these tips may finally get me to compress my irons and make ball then turf contact. Cheers!
That's the goal!
Another great video Alex, thanks. We're in Covid lockdown (#4 for Melbourne, Australia) for at least another week but am looking forward to trying tips 1&4 as soon as we can get back on the course / driving range.
Sorry to hear that... A few of these feels and others on the channel can be done at home to a degree. We even have an at home series in the Club. Keep safe!
This is one of the most comprehensive golf teaching video I,ve ever met . Thank you very much I,ve learned a lot from the tips you just told .
Well that’s brilliant to hear! Thank you very much and glad you’re with us.
Very informative and practical!
Glad to hear it! 🏌️♂️💪
Another fantastic video, Alex. Learning so much. Hope I can improve my swing this year, regardless of score.
You can do it and glad you're with us!
Great stuff. I really appreciate your views on feels. The tips are extremely helpful. SPOT ON.
Much appreciated!
I put these tips to work during a round yesterday and they worked extremely well. Had my best and most consistent round of the year! Thanks
Well how good is that! Well done you and keep at it ;)
Excellent instruction. The eye and flow tips really resonate with me. Going to give it a go next time out. Thanks!
Marvelous and let me know how it goes. Don’t try and do all of them at once
Excellent tuition that is easy to follow, thanks Alex
Much appreciated
I’m at the range trying out your tips, ending up trying nos 3,4 and back to 1. They all work and I’m hitting them 100% better than before. Thanks a bunch for your simple and very effective lessons. Keep them coming.
That’s excellent!! Well done. Now pick specific shots and targets and change club every ball.
Will do that next. Thanks
this channel has helped me the most and I have watched a lot on you tube !!!
Very glad to hear that!! Well done
Great instructions, great job.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent! Looking forward to trying these out! Left shoulder down helps me, when I remember to do it! Need to get more "programmed" to do it every time.
Great let us know if one or more suit you
Alex thank you so much, you have explained it so well, I totally understand, and now I know why my ball flight is so high, my left shoulder was coming up too early.
Yep!! Just don’t over emphasize with longer clubs
Absolutely agree with focusing on a point ahead of the ball then you hit the ball on the way to that point - really improves strike, distance and accuracy. Why, oh why, did I not know and do this years ago??
It can be quite remarkable:) keep at it!
Thank you! I will try!!
Hope you like it!
Excellent breakdown my friend. You have a way of simplifying what was once a convoluted mess. Well done!
Thank you kindly!
Outstanding. Thanks for sharing
Thanks and hope it provides you a couple of things to work on
Long overdue comment, thank you for your ability to identify our flaws and explain the fix in such an easily understandable approach
Much appreciated! Hope it's helping!
Cannot wait to try this out. Thanks Alex
Let us know how it goes
Simply great - thanks.
Good to hear!
Amen, amazing and powerful swing tips. Explained in a simple manner. Best instructional videos!!! Cheers from Canada
Why thank you kindly and hope this and others help
Great Lessons. Just saw your first 2 lessons on my I Pad. Easy to understand, am going to our range and working on them. Have signed up for your lessons, keep them coming..Bob Moore, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Cheers Robert! Glad to have you with us!
Excellent video, Alex! My left shoulder pops up way too soon so definitely need to do #3 (lead arm and chest down)
You got it!
Excellent explanation this is exactly what I needed to see 🤝
Good to know and let us know how you go with it
Man do I need this video. 90% of my iron shots are thin shots. I have a hard time staying down trough the shot. I am going to try this tips out at the driving range. Thanks for this video.
Let us know how you go!
If your name was backwards you wouldn’t need any golf instructions! 😄
@@jeffmiller1387 I tried reversing my name but it didn't help. Lol
Excellent ....simple is better for me .Thankyou
Glad to hear it.
Wonderful lesson!! Thank you
Appreciate that!
Very easy to understand, thank you 🏌🏿♂️🤙
Wonderful to hear!
Thanks a million from Indonesia 😊
Terima kasih
Very good lesson, not the first time I'm watching it, but working that way definitely improve my game... Thanks!
Well that’s very good to hear it’s become a foundation for you.
now that is solid lesson. fantastic work here.
Thank you!
I've just started to have this problem as I get back into golf after a few busy months, it's something I've never had a problem with and this is helping it make sense in my head so thank you.
Glad it helped and just take it smooth and don't try doing too much
Alex- a good clean (simple) explanation. Easy to visualize and ties together neatly.
Great and more importantly I hope it helps you in specifically to apply one of them
Great and more importantly I hope it helps you in specifically to apply one of them
Will you try at least one of these tips to help you strike your irons? Do you tend to hit down too much or get shots fat? Also subscribe and get our free series here theartofsimplegolf.com/free
What does the body feel at the moment of straightening the arms, a wall at the left side of the body?
@@ST-xg3gy I think yes if I understand your question correctly
Very informative I tend to hit at the ball and as a result I quit on my follow through. So hopefully working on your instructions will improve the consistency of my ball contact. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Maybe this is the key I need, I’ll try it tomorrow on the course. Thank you Alex. Do you have a videos on a driver swing, correct wrist action, and club face rotation?
We have several driver videos. But you certainly don’t want to be thinking about all that when hitting one ;) same feels as this, the set up is the same, you just feel like there is a wall in front of you that the arms and club can go through but not your body
Awesome instruction. Love the videos..
Glad you like them! 🏌️♂️👍
Brilliant! thank you.
Cheers Frank and hope it helps
Thanks, love the tips.
Glad you like them!
Excellent lesson, young man !
Why thank you and hope it helps!
That's me Alex.
Thanks for the tips.
More than welcome!
Superlesson, will try it out inpractice and on course

Bloody loving this channel. Follow all the big boys but been dead impressed. Considering joining the channel. Thanks
Wonderful and glad you are with us:) One day soon we may be a big boy lol
I just found the game. Everyone has “their” guy to watch and I just found mine. Gonna soak all these videos up and enjoy. Thanks!
Well you’re very welcome ! Glad your with us! 👍🏌️♂️🏆
Just saw this video and I’ll play tomorrow using two of your tips. Focus eyes in front of the ball and keeping shoulder and chest down. The second move seems to help getting my hands ahead to my left thigh at impact. Eager to try? Feels right in the basement 😊
Sorry… how did it go? 🏌️♂️⛳️
Great tips Alex I struggle with all of that lol I’m taking this to the range 💯 thank you!!
Hope it goes well and take it one step at a time. No rush! 🏌️♂️👍
i'm a beginners and your tips are really helping to improve my swing
Really good solid golf tips and drills. Going to try to work through them and I’ll let you know how I do. Thanks
Please do!
Great lessons Thanks
My pleasure!
Awesome advice thank you for the great tip 👍👍 they are working great for me .. now shooting in the mid 80'S
Well done!! Keep at it and glad you are with us.
Excellent video!
Thanks and hope it helps you!
Good stuff Alex !!!
Good to hear thanks!
Wow!!
1st time I've ever heard the L shoulder down tip!
BRILLIANT!
👍🏌️♂️
Thanks!
Exactly what I do ....spot on with the chunks
Well I’m confident this will assist to minimize that :)
Great video 👍👍👍
Cheers
Describes my problem exactly. Great video
Well hopefully it helps you!
This is a great video. Especially in combination with your “Simple Drills for an Effortless Swing”.
I’m a decent player (3-5 hcp). Strike the ball pretty well. But I’ve been fighting a bit of a sway through my downswing. Which I think is costing me some distance.
The chest move in this video really “clicked” for me. Really eager to put in some more work with these drills. But initial comparison on camera after a short while has me really happy.
I’m delighted to hear that and it resonated with you. Well done for connecting this to the other principle. Keep at it!
Solid stuff…thank you!
Thanks and hope it helps!
Thank you!
No problem and hope it helps
Hi Alex, a very good instructional video, and resonates exactly with my main faults. I hit a good drive, and then either fat or thin the ball when hitting my irons.
I’ll definitely follow your 3 steps, when next at the range.
Very simple guides to follow, as the site name implies.
Thanks
Excellent to hear that. Appreciate it ;) let us know how it goes !
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf will do 👍
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf Hi Alex, just to update you, I played a new course today, but haven’t had the opportunity to practice the instructional tips in your video. However, I decided to incorporate the instruction during my round, and shot 5 under par which for me was unheard of on a course I’ve never played before. I struck most of my iron shots cleanly compressing the ball like never before.
Hopefully this is the start of some better golf scores in future.
Thanks John
@@johnhampson9962 Wll that's brilliant! Well done! Get some practice to naturalize them and you will be good to go. Keep at it and enjoy the process
Alex. Just come across this video and completely agree with you. I was instructed some time ago to look two to three inches in front of the ball and my golf shots began to improve immensely. I actual use the Jim Venetos method of swing and it works just the same for me.I am sure this video will greatly assist those golfers who have problems making good contact with the ball. This method ensures ball then turf and results in good contact at all times. Great instruction thank you.
Thanks for sharing and appreciate it.
Just wanted to pass this along. I recently had two back surgeries and I'm just now getting back to the course. I have really been on the struggle bus with my irons. Hitting that dreaded weak leaker fade and losing distance. I watched one of your videos about the hips and drifting them towards the target right before the downswing starts and I pured my irons all day yesterday with a five yard draw. Best I had played since coming back was 85 due mainly to being hot with putter. Yesterday shot the easiest 79 I have ever shot. Thank you so much for these simplified instructions.
Well isn’t that marvelous!! Keep the flow and don’t strain too much. Let’s keep it moving and thanks for sharing!
great video!
Cheers 👍🏆
Great video, all 4 steps is exactly what we try to teach my daughter, great break down.
Awesome! Thank you!
But a bit like a sermon
Will try it,sounds. Great
Please do!
One of the greatest video
👍🏌️♂️
Yes it resonates! When I’m playing bad my swing is more of a V shape than an arc. Problem is being able to fix it when I’m playing and reset.
Hopefully this will help
A masterful video lesson. You havehitmy iron swing faults on the head. Will take these tips to my next practice round
Excellent. Hope they serve you well
I've been struggling with my irons this year and this is going to help I'm sure. I have been trying to get the feeling that I'm shortening my back swing and lengthening my following through and turning to the target. The trouble is when you revert back to old habits when on the course!!
Just keep to simple feels on the course and react to target more
I enjoy your videos, and I learn a lot.
Well that’s good to know!
I have played golf maybe 4 times and all of your videos have literally helped me so much. I can hit it straight only like 4/10 times. I really think after watching some of your videos I am going to maybe get that to 5/10 maybe 6/10.
I have been playing golf for 22 years and have never heard some of these great tips before. Thank you sir.
I hope that means it’s a good thing:)
Hi Alex. I'm so proud of myself lol. Just tonight I was illustrating to my student who was struggling hitting the ball, your first tip (#1)to concentrate on a mark IN FRONT of the ball and if he hits it, the ball will get in the way. I put a little leaf in front and told him to hit the leaf. (He did) Thanks for verifying my advice :) onward to tip#2!
Well done! Cheers Dan
The best tip I ever had on swinging through, or perhaps just the overall best golf tip was from my brother, who hadn't been playing long. He said "I get it, you have to feel the weight at the bottom of your swing, you have to have relaxed wrists and feel the force of the club pulling on your hands like in a practice swing". That was an AHA moment for me and I make sure I feel that, even in pitches etc. You have lag, and you're not steering or buckling your arms....you can't or you don't feel the weight with relaxed hands/wrists.
Very very well said!!
Those sound like wonderful descriptions of the feels that help the most.
Hi Alex, this is very useful video to check everytime the sicrets for solid gold swing. I will save this video in my archive to remind myself :)
Excellent
New sub here! This video is really thorough and well done! The way I tried to not focus on the ball was to make the club have a woosh sound for driver, and make a sound as it clips/cuts the grass for irons. but I really like the way you should the proper movements. very valuable video. :)
Why thank you and glad you’re with us! Sounds like you are on the right path with those differences. Keep at it
I’m doing tip #1, #2 & #4 and then I saw this 👍 thanks Alex for giving a confirmation 👌
Exactly lol!
