    Try this now and let me know how it feels to you. Does it help to simplify some good moves? Do you think you try and do too much? Just be sure to still stay relatively centered and not turn and reach too much. . A line on floor or use a mirror to help.

      I was a scratch golfer 20 years and two strokes ago. I lost some of my game after the 1st stroke, started getting it back and lost it completely after my 2nd stroke due to some brain damage. I've been fighting to get my game back and I have to say watching your videos is slowly bringing it back. My neurologist says it'll take up to 3 years for my brain to heal but your videos are helping immensely to help bring it back!
      I just want to say thank you.
      I have a pretty long road ahead, but I just keep moving forward following your drills, thanks for what you're doing.

    At 7:17 you mentioned "soft wrists". I dont have much grip strength and fairly inflexible wrists (as a senior golfer) and when I use "soft wrists" in the downswing my irons sling out of control such that I have no control of low point. Centripetal force wants to cast the club head and make the shaft be in line with the forearms and obviously with a normal address position that will put the club head into the ground way behind the ball. So how am I supposed to keep that upward cock I had at address at impact (since that seems to be the only way to have the same bottom I had at address)? Is that why you said you need a "firm grip", to maintain the angle between forearms and the shaft at impact? Would love to hear some explanations of what you have to do with your hand and wrist muscles to achieve consistent bottom and what the relationship has to be between the club shaft and your arms to have a consistent bottom.

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf
      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  3 роки тому

      Hi,
      You do need to apply firmness... the extension past impact is key. And then allowing to rotate the body if possible. this may help. ua-cam.com/video/0YfyZU3v19c/v-deo.html

    • @georgesmith4639
      @georgesmith4639 3 роки тому +1

      @@TheArtofSimpleGolf I find it impossible to delay extension past impact because the club extends itself at or before the bottom. In fact, just adding tighter grip pressure probably would not be enough, I'd have to lock my wrists and squeeze as tight as I am capable of to delay extension as late as you show. Maybe I need lighter clubs. I'm currently using standard weight heads for men. The problem with locking the wrists and squeezing the grip as tight as possible is that it causes wrist/hand injuries on fats and thins.

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf
      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  3 роки тому

      @@georgesmith4639 we certainly don’t want to be squeezing that hard! It’s just like you would a hammer.

    Great lesson! Another suggestion for those who still find themselves swaying/reaching a little in each direction when trying to slap your hand (like me). Instead of slapping your hand in each direction, try uppercut punching your hand in each direction. @@TedInoue Ted I saw your comment about stretching the muscles along your flanks. I don't mean to get in your business but I don't think you should be feeling that. I think maybe you are not turning your hips nearly as much as you think you are. I am 70 and have no trouble with a substantial shoulder turn. Try straightening your trail leg in the backswing. Years ago that was the way the backswing was taught.

    Hi Alex, I chanced upon your videos recently, and was trying to apply them when I injured my right knee with a slight patella fracture. Now my right leg is immobilized. I am 69, have been playing for 20+ years. I met Nick Faldo at St Andrews in 1999 and liked his swing. Is there a way to exercise and/or practice your simple swing in my present state? Thanks.

    Ironically, I just 'discovered' this move for myself in my basement 'swing lab' this afternoon. Haven't taken it to the course yet, but was smashing it into the net - and it's so easy to repeat. Prior to this, I've always tried to keep the rear elbow (left for me as a lefty) close to my torso. I'm 60, and still have good mobility, and I'm hoping this results in some more distance. We shall see. Was glad to see this vid confirming I might be doing something right.
