Notes on the ambulance trivia: Vixen is a female reindeer. Alaska and Hawaii are obviously farther west than California, but also the coasts of Oregon and Washington stick out a little farther west than California's does. Presumably Nightingale refers to Florence Nightingale, best known for being a nurse in the Crimean War nearly a century before WWII. Alaska is obviously farther north than Maine, but every state on the Canadian border from Michigan to Washington is farther north, with a bit of Minnesota going the farthest. With the multiplication problems you can just check the last digits (if you've memorized the times tables); for example they multiplied a number ending with 4 by one ending with 9 and the answer ended with 7, but 4 x 9 = 36 so the answer would have to end with 6. The question asked if 1 centimeter was 10 milliliters, and the answer is no because 1 centimeter is 10 millimeters, not because of 10 vs. 100 like Arin thought. Denmark has the oldest national flag according to Guinness (I had to look this one up). I think "Lila" in the currency of Japan question was supposed to be Lira (the pre-Euro currency of Italy).

Santa's reindeer are all female and it's actually very interesting. Reindeer are one of the few deer species where females grow antlers but they grow them at different times of year to the males. During Christmas time male reindeer will have shed their antlers and females would still be carrying them. Since Santa's reindeer are always depicted with antlers they must be female! Nature is so fun!
I remember having this game. At the age where I barely knew *a* language and it wasn't english or japanese. I was far too confused to pass the first level. What a great game!
In the Rakin and Bass special, “A Year Without a Santa Clause”, Vixen was a female. However, the scientific answer is that all the reindeer are female because males shed their antlers between mid-November to mid-December. Females don’t shed their antlers until April. So any reindeer pulling a sleigh on Christmas Eve, while retaining their antlers, would be female.
10:43 NO!!! (As dan's internet voice would say) Terminal velocity is where the force of gravity is equal to the force of air resistance. The force of gravity is proportional to your mass (force, not acceleration- acceleration is constant), and the force of air resistance is proportional to..... well, your physical shape and characteristics. Complex stuff. If you're within a room falling at terminal velocity, because no air is pushing on YOU specifically, I think you'd be able to stand in the room. It's like an elevator moving downwards, just really quickly. On your way TO the room's terminal velocity, every amount of acceleration downwards that the room experiences is acceleration downwards that you DON'T witness. So, sort of, as it approaches terminal velocity, and as more air resistance pushes against it, apparent gravity increases until it returns to 1G again. Which is interesting to think about, I think.
Don’t be fooled. This game is tough. I can distinctly remember the first stage being off sync also. In order to beat it, a group of us had to rotate based on who was best at what stage
I knew it'd eventually come to them replaying games Arin played back when Jon was on the show! But it's fun that we get to see a fresh reaction from Dan! I welcome it! I want to see Dan's reaction to Chulip!
In relation to the question Dan asked at 10:37 basically there may be slight separation due to the rapid acceleration but you wouldn't be floating in the elevator because the wind resistance (the force that enables a falling object to reach terminal velocity) is imparting on the elevator and not you directly which allows you to fall at a constant rate of acceleration unimpeded to match the speed of the elevator.
I have waited years for the grumps to crack into this game. I remember playing it as a child, enraged by its difficulty, yet mesmerized by the style. I had forgotten the name of this game over the years so this is a very nice surprise. :D
Omg this is the game ive had nightmares about from my childhood! 😂 I tried getting past the ferris wheel section, but the moaning woman had me traumatized 😅
Dan is correct: while the elevator is accelerating downwards, you would float up off the floor. And Arin is confidently 25% correct: as air resistance reduces the elevator's acceleration, you would slowly regain your weight until it reaches terminal velocity, at which time you would weigh your normal amount. You know, before hitting the ground.
"Terminal velocity is equal no matter what object." Arin, you've made at least one engineer scream in frustration. You got freefall acceleration and terminal velocity backwards. I hope you're proud. (For what it's worth, the occupants of an elevator in freefall would experience "weightlessness" as Dan said.
