The turtle van boxset is probably the best option the only problem with it is they don't come in individual cases and that bugs the shit out of me
Yeah, volumes don't equal seasons. More like compilations or like a greatest hits, although some shows sold as volumes will be within the same season.
As for packaging, I've seen worse. I was never a fan of the first dvd releases of Sliders.

My biggest gripe is when shows are released out of order. This happened with the Sliders dvds and Saved by the Bell.

That reminds me of the plastic head season boxes of The Simpsons. There was so much backlash that they actually gave the option to request normal cardboard boxes.
Fox put out The Simpsons seasons 6-10 in these head packaging of the family. Then beginning with Season 11 they began putting them out like that Season 4 TMNT package with the other Springfield town folks (but not as thick cases).The difference though is that people complained about the season 6 packaging so Fox went back and put Season 6 in a traditional package and gave the option on the package starting with season 7.Each season got a head/face package or a standard package for the next several seasons and then the last season or two that got a physical release was just standard packaging. Season 20 was the last Simpson season to get a physical release. So seasons 1-20 are on physical media (and the 2007 theatrical film).The show is currently in season 35 (I think there are only two more episodes this season) but it's renewed for season 36.But that TMNT packaging for Season 4 looks like same style the Simpsons DVDs started with Season 11.
Plus the interior for the Season 5 Pizza box where the disk are kept is similar to the interior of the head packaging for The Simpsons Seasons 6-10.
At least Fox was consistent with their Simpsons releases and listened to consumers by putting out the option of getting a standard packaging at the same time as the head/face ones. I admit i went with the head/face ones just because I thought it was neat and different.

I've been a TMNT fan for as long as I can remember but for some reason the original series somehow slipped past me. I was born in 97 but the show I remember watching heavily was the 2003 cartoon.

MillCreek is notorious when it comes to packaging TV shows in cardboard. I have Married with Children the complete series on DVD & its all falling apart. If they put them all in 1 DVD case to hold all 11 seasons, I wouldn't care. I have heard that MillCreek has gotten better with their packaging over the years. Still with their older stuff they never upgraded their packaging
And I hate those cheap TV shows on DVD at Walmart boxes the way to do it is the way the dukes of hazzard did it with the unfolding and each disc is uncovered every time u unfold it or those TV show book things I love those
The Roseanne set from Mill Creek was really bad. So I hunted down the seasons from Anchor Bay. They had way better packaging.
The episode The Case of the Killer Pizzas. That was always an episode that stuck in my mind forever. Even as a 6, 7 year old I knew it was a blatant reference to Alien. Afterall, I had the Kenner toys. I also saw Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection before I ever saw Alien or Aliens,lol. I saw the worse of the franchise before I saw the classics.
I bought a pack of an entire show. It was a horror show from the early 90's and it refused to play. I then had my half brother put it in his DVD player and it still didn't play. As far as I can remember. I put it in my new DVD player and it still won't play. Hate it. Hate when I pay $19.99 - $25.99 for a DVD and it refuses to play, or it won't play on my only DVD player.
Also, I saw your tiktok video about the soul crushing ending to The last American virgin. I watched that in 2022, and yeah. Pretty bad, but in the end I was glad and thankful, because I felt uncomfortable the entire time watching him trying to force it. So for me at least it was a bitter sweet ending.

I've always hoped they would release complete TV shows on 4k discs purely so you could have way fewer discs but sadly I don't think that will ever happen.
It would be too costly to make and would be a rip off for you also a lot of those 80's shows were shot on videotape meaning HD upgrades wont look good hence why they are only on Dvd and have never been put out on Blu Ray

@@markpugh6808Hasn’t stopped them from putting out movies that looks like rips from DVDs or even Laserdisc and SD Blu-Rays are a thing.
If they’re willing to shit out James Cameron’s awful revisionist DNR-nightmares for restoration on 4K including T2 which they still haven’t fixed the error from the original pressing where they used the wrong master and asking actual money for it, then there’s no reason for them to put out a videotaped show on the Blu-Ray format and call it a day.

I'm glad I'm not going to that problem with The Simpsons. I own season 1,2 & 4. I remember seeing a video on youtube there was a problem with season 8 of the DVD packaging where the packing was shaped as Homer's head and it didn't match the packing of the other seasons. it annoyed everyone. I was lookin it up from season 6 to 10 there are packing that are shaped as the simpsons heads. They fixed the packing later on. I'm gonna need to look for those seasons in person when I get to those.
Good lord this is a catastrophe to the TMNT franchise. Talk about switching packaging to the point of overkill. It’s like they were incapable of making up their minds 😂 🤦♂️
Recently bought Knight Rider for my son. Its a big cardboard mess. Hard to tell which disk is which.

The most disappointing DVD release, for me, has to be "Friday the 13th: The Series". The show was originally released as individual seasons and eventually as a complete box set with all 3 seasons. Unfortunately, CBS didn't spend a dime to increase the picture quality and what fans got were VHS quality episodes on DVD, with only the show's intro and a television commercial for the series premiere as the only bonus features. Rumors of a blu-ray release ended up being just that, and at this point the only way to see the show's origins and production discussed is on the Crystal Lake Memories documentary and the bonus disc that came packed with it for those who pre-ordered.
I hated the beavis and butthead volumes, and we still don’t have the complete series 😤

that like with the Simpsons on dvd. one season the case is Homers head but the rest are normal cases so it looks horrible on a shelf. sometimes i don’t understand what goes through their minds 😂😂😂

SMB3 and The Mario Bros Super Show have a similarly confusing release history on DVD, many themed and compilation sets while the whole series was OOP.
Not as bad as DBZ. my God it had like one good release which goes for astronomical prices now.
Region Coding is the spawn of the Devil. In this day and age where they’re pushing for a global reach, region coding should be as extinct as the Dinosaurs but it keeps persisting.
These days, volume sets shouldn’t be a thing anymore when it concerns shows that already aired their full seasons and the practice of releasing portions of a season in general instead of a complete series set on home video. Especially animated shows like Transformers: Cyberverse which still has a lot of episodes not available on DVD or Blu-Ray and shows like Sonic Satam where we had great releases prior before putting out an awful release that newcomers are stuck with.
Then you get shows like Beast Wars and Hey, Arnold! where they get a complete series set in one region while those in another are stuck with the incomplete volume releases even years later. More infuriating is when they sell complete series sets but they leave off some episodes and specials for absolutely no reason like Ed, Edd and Eddy Complete Series or at the mercy of a video label who doesn’t give a shit about it, put in the bare minimum for it and refuses to use the better masters over the inferior ones.

Superstore Season 6 - They have never released this final season of the show. You can only get the first 5 seasons on DVD.
Shout Factory put out the complete series last year but if you already bought the first 5 seasons you have to buy them all again to get the last one. The same thing happened with The Wonder Years. 🤔
Not exactly the same but I loved the fall guy and they have never released past season 1 so my whole life if grown up watching season 1 knowing there were 5 more seasons that I would never see because they decided not to release them I really really hope with this remake fall guy movie they do a box set

From the Wrestlemaniacs show, if your actually unfamiliar with Ospreay you really should check out some of his stuff. He's named after the bird btw. He had 2 matches in AEW last year that were great, one was against Kenny Omega from forbidden door, and another against Jericho from All In last Aug. And he had another great match against Konosuke Takeshita at Revolution a few weeks ago. I'm a bit older than you and watching wrestling for 30+ years and he's 1 of the best I've ever seen. All 3 matches I mentioned, especially the Omega match, that may have been my match of the year for 2023, he literally runs rings around any currently under contract WWE wrestler, it's like watching AJ Styles in his prime in 2004 when he had his full move set, but even better. And he can talk too. He's gonna carry AEW for years to come. There wasn't a match on Mania that even touches what I've seen this guy do. He can do every strike, from any angle, all the technical Bret Hart mat stuff, and do any crazy aerial dive or springboard move with precision and I've yet to see him botch anything or hurt himself.
I like Ospreay. I think he's damn good and has the potential to be a huge star but with that being said, he chose AEW over WWE for the light schedule and more money. That's not a good mindset to have for such a young talent that could potentially become a huge star in the wrestling business.
