The Next Generation is CRIMINALLY underrated. You have to laugh with it and understand that it’s really just a quasi remake of the original with the campiness turned up to 1000!
Totally agree with you about 3+4 and 2022 being good! I think TCM 22 is short, sweet, gorey as all hell, and the cinematography is actually beautiful. It's a great, thrilling ride.
Fun video bro! I agree with a lot of what you say about each movie. The ranking I disagree with you most is for TCM:The Beginning. Thanks for giving Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III so much love. My tier list: A= TCM, TCM 2, TCM 3 B= TCM 4, TCM 2003, TCM 2022 C= TCM 3D D= TCM: The Beginning, Leatherface 2017
Respect for putting TCM3 so high, my introductory movie to the franchise to be honest and reading the OG script? Yeah New Line really screwed not only Schow and Burr but any potential fans of this timeline cause trust me when I say this? It's nuts! Leatherface going punker a bit, bisecting people, the family with suggestions of mama, I can share it with you if you'd like, I'd love to hear your thoughts/
The remake takes itself a little too seriously, which I think diminishes the effectiveness of the original. Not saying it's bad, but it's just another horror movie instead of something special. I think TCM movies should prioritize oddity over scares. That's what separates them from the pack.
I've been obsessed with TCM since I was 3 in 2003 and saw the remake. I've seen it at least twice a year since but I used to watch it multiple times a week. I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen it. I have a video on the whack order I watched these movies on my channel but long story short, "too late!" My favorites are the original and then the remake.
Personally the remake should be a D because (not only because remakes suck) the family weren’t as psycho as the original one. In the OG they made us afraid of the family and then it was “holy fuck” leather face! As the remake made Leather face the main/only fear. But damn it if R. Lee Ermey didn’t scare me he shit out of you. With that being said the remake didn’t give me the same experience the OG did. Jmho
So the beginning is my favourite from the whole franchise! Completely agree with you over the remake. The original is my second favourite. I’ve not seen 3 or 4, I have to get to them. Love these rankings
My favorite in the franchise is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2. I'm one of the oddballs who loves Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. Leatherface in TNG is probably closer to Ed Gein than any other version. I also love the new one on Netflix.
The first 4 films are bangers for me, they keep that campy n creepy family aspect strong!! I like them all though except for leather face ,it doesn’t have tcm in the title les just disown it 🤣
Love the intro to this video (the s/o to Kenny at midlevel was great) these TCM review videos are amazing to watch bc these films mean so much to people. My screenplay writing teacher in college was Kim Henkel so anytime someone is talking about part 4 is joy to me! Thanks CHH on another great review. Down here in TX you can bet your bottom dollar we love us some leather face. God bless
Man.....Texas 3D is soooooo horrible. " Do your thing cuz" is like the worst line in any Chainsaw movie. Not as bad as Pt 4 but not one I'll ever watch again. Well unless I'm high or something.
In my opinion, Texas chainsaw massacre remake IS the best remake ever made of any film. I would personally rate it as high as the original. It was that f’ing good. I know it sounds crazy but I really really loved it from beginning to end.
Watched 3D in 2D in the movie theater with my mom when it came out. It was okay. I kind of liked it but that was a lot more due to probably nostalgia. Watched part 3 last year and I got to say...I love Ken Foree and Kane Hodder but I just didn't like it. I do agree the trailer does look awesome. I watched part 2 in like....2017? It was okay. Didn't really like it, but it was alright. So I liked 3D far more then part 2 and 3. That being said.....the entire movie I was confused about our main character the final girl. All through out the movie from the beginning I kept going "Who is she?" Ya, I knew she was RELATED to Leatherface and his clan. That was blatantly obvious....but that was in the 70's and we see her as a BABY...it's the 2000's and she's like 20 years old?! So her age and the time line confused me and I was like "is that his niece?! Why did we get that scene with the baby then and where is she?!" and of course I had a sneaking suspicion that they were gonna claim "oh the final girl is his cousin. That baby you saw in the 70s? That was her." and once that was explicitly stated I was like "That's stupid. Why did they do that?" and "How could they of missed that?!" I'll bring up a pretty obscure movie nobody talks about. I love this movie. I've watched it several times and I always love it. The love witch. It takes place in the 60's. The entire film is just dripping 60's all over. Every single scene is so 60's with some 70's blending in. So it feels like 1969 or 1970 at least. More in an exaggerated way, but still. It's super 60's. The film without a doubt takes place in the 60's....yet near the end of the movie one of the characters pulls a cell phone out of her purse and it's like "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!" but because it's such a great movie I am like "Forget it. Just go with it." But ya....no idea why they had to all of a sudden show a modern cell phone in the move. I know it had to do with the ending and the plot of the movie, but it's like "You could of done the same thing WITHOUT a cell phone." So the cell phone is just so out of place and just looks and feels weird. So the last time I watched it...Which was for the 3rd or 4th time I was taken aback by that scene and I was like "I totally forgot the cellphone scene in this movie." The only one that I like from the series is the Original. Which I did watch this year. Last time I watched it....damn was it a thrill ride. This year, not so much. So when it's good, it's really really good. Was hoping for that thrill again...where I am Sally and I did feel that, but to a far lesser extent. I still felt like Sally at the end screaming "GO! GO! GO!" but last time the thrill was just so much longer and stronger. Still got that from Valerie as I always do at the end of Slumber party massacre. Which I watch every single year...I just love when Valerie comes out of the basement swinging the machete....gets my heart pumping every single time I watch it. I love her movements. How she holds the machete, how she chases after Russ. That music playing. Just super thrilling. Haven't watch the other Texas chainsaw movies. I've seen a little bit of the remake but not the whole thing. The whole anti "online influencers" theme in the new Texas Chainsaw does make it sound appealing to watch. At the same time it has Sally which is totally UNAPPEALING. Sorry but Sally being in the new movie [played by a different actress as well[ is not a selling point for me. In fact it makes me LESS willing to give it a try. Mainly because from reviews, she's barely in the movie, not the same actress, and her character is completely wasted, and because of this Hollywood trend of "Oh those characters that you loved from the original movie? We're gonna DESTROY that image. Laurie Strode the crazy paranoid totally incompetent alcoholic crazy CAT LADY. Here ya go. ENJOY!" I watched Tobe Hooper's Eaten alive this year for my 3 month long Horror/Halloween marathon. I kind of liked it, but it really wasn't that good. I just slightly liked it. Robert Englund was the high light of the movie though. Every time Robert Englund was on screen I was enjoying it. I also laughed my ass off at the entire plot of the first victim because if she hadn't refused Robert Englund she would of lived. I found that incredibly hilarious. By the way...looked over my list of favorite non franchise slashers....how could I forget Black Christmas? But then again....Black Christmas does have a remake. Multiple remakes actually.
TCM The Beginning but I love Next Generation and 3D. 2003 and Part 3 are awesome too. Not very fond of Part 2 and Leatherface 2013. 2022 was ok but I'd rank it last .
Perfect - 1 and 2 A - 3D, TNG B - 3, Remake, Beginning, Leatherface 2017, TCM 2022 It's funny how your problem with Leatherface 2017 is the same problem I have with the Remake and Beginning. We both like 3D, so this is just a fresh look at how it could have started before it all went bad in TCM 74. I think all 3 of those blend to make a good trilogy but I admit, I'm a mark for TCM.
Texas chainsaw for would not have been a box office hit however the little money could have made more was ruined by Renee zellweger and Matthew McConaughey's Asians who personally made it their mission to make sure that that film was never on shelfed because Renee was doing Jerry Maguire and Matthew McConaughey at the time I believe was doing dazed and confused. And they were very worried that this film would take their careers hence why that film only got a straight to video release years later
The first two Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies are the best and I also love The Beginning like you do Christian I'm also not a big fan of the remake I saw it years ago in the theaters and there was one scene at the end that ruined the movie for me I also really like Texas Chainsaw 3D but I haven't seen Texas Chainsaw four or the prequel Leatherface yet Texas Chainsaw 2022 was a fun movie not perfect but still a decent movie

The trailer for TCM 3 was far better than the actual movie. The saw getting thrown out of the lake. The lightning to start it. Iconic
thats possibly the best thing in the franchise EVER lol
No the 3rd is actually my favorite along with 3D. So sleazy and fun.
I've had the TCM 3 poster on my wall for the last 32 years. Wherever I move to it goes into my new room. The saw is family
dude that is awesome
TCM2 will always be my favorite. Respectable list, Christian! I, too, like next gen 😂

My favorite is always the original, but watching Ken Foree in TCM 3 is still a great time.
The OG is the first movie that scared me as a kid! Definitely didn't go outside at night alone for awhile!
The remake takes itself a little too seriously, which I think diminishes the effectiveness of the original. Not saying it's bad, but it's just another horror movie instead of something special. I think TCM movies should prioritize oddity over scares. That's what separates them from the pack.
This was comforting, I would like to see more tier lists they’ve all been solid
awesome!
New line may be the house at Freddy built but Bob chase the one who put holes in the walls for no reason

3?? Haha crazy
TCM part 2 is my favorite.I also love the first remake and of course part 1
ironic since I just started watching the first one so maybe this can help me
I love this franchise too. My rank:
Perfect
1974
A grade

B grade

I just did a rewatch of these and I gotta say it might be my 3rd favorite horror franchise behind Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street.
hell yes
Loved the tier ranking, my list is close to the same but with the most recent 3 movies in the D tier
FWIW...I think TCM: The Beginning is the most underrated in the franchise.
I would put
TCM - A
TCM 2 - B
TCM 3 - C
TCM next generation - D
TCM Remake - A
TCM Beginning - B
TCM 3D - D
Leatherface -D
TCM 2022 - C

Do you think the Netflix 1 will get a physical release? I'm tempted to buy a bootleg cuz not of alot of Netflix stuff gets released physically.
i dont think it will unfortunately.
The uncut version of Part 3 is pretty good.
The original Texas chainsaw i watch once or twice a year. Why texas chainsaw two have more rewatch ability and dog will hunt.
Honestly the only ones I like are 1,2,3 and the 2003 remake. TCM 2 is my favorite

its such a ownership mess, so probably not

A grade should be almost perfect
I've always loved 4 to sum it up the family in next generation is by far the family that would scare me the most probably tied with the Hewitts in real life I'd probably pee myself

C: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, Texas Chainsaw 3D,
