Florida - My favorite is Ande! I pulled many Snook from the pilings with it.

I'm 67 and I use mono all my life. I changed to the bright color years ago. Just to see it. I'm just saying it works anywhere any time...
Fish are not aware of the difference. Excellent video and simple information... Thanks...

Flipped for years with 17lb big game before braid was around. Rarely broke off. Great line!!!

My favorite too. I also use it for leaders with my rods that have braid. I've gone back to mono only for a lot of fishing.

Agreed ! No need to pay big bucks for a line that pro anglers use because they are sponsored by the company that gives it to the free. I use cheaper brands of mono that catch just as many big bass as the high end floro . Great info ! Stay safe !

The industry has pushed fluro down our throats. No need for fluro in Florida. I’m a mono and braid guy.

I have been fishing for many years tried everything I agree with everything you have said. I even use the 8lb on spinning reels and use line conditioner and it makes it limp as a dish rag and will throw a 1/8 jig a mile.I fish the Coosa river in Alabama and you couldn’t see a school bus 3 foot under water so I’m not worried about bass seeing my line. And there are no doubt in my mind that 8lb big game is stronger than 8lb Braid or 8lb Fluorocarbon.I use 20lb and 15lb on my baitcast reels and 8lb on spinning

Growing up one of my buddies always used big game, swore by it and I highly trust his opinion. I tried it but personally I felt the stren original out performed it, mainly for abrasion resistance but maybe because it stretched more.. I use 8 lb big game for backing, definitely cost effective. Tried it as a leader, and feel the same , if it gets nicked retie immediately because it’s gonna break.. great video

100% agree on the Big Game line. I purchase the brown because of the tanic colored water. It disappears in the water.

I only use mono. I have used fluorocarbon and braid. My favorite mono for casting is maxima. It’s not cheap, but I trust it. I’ll have to check out the big game line, because I’m definitely always looking for a way to save a buck, and hard to ignore this recommendation!

Same here ! I use big game and cxx p-line cystal clear (600 yard spools). #15 cxx has very little stretch and will pull a volkswagen off the bottom.

Great topic! Mamoi hi-catch is my fav and is insanely strong. Probably not noticed by bass anglers since it's used mostly in the salt world. I use 16 pound on some of my bass rods and you get 1010 yards on a spool. Great value! I've landed several sailfish on their 20 lb line including a 40 lb wahoo. Hasn't failed me yet!

Trilene Big Game 12 pound test green is on just about all my reels, worming, spinnerbait, cranking and even swimming a worm is the one I use. 👍

Been fishing trilene since it came on the market. Its all I use.Sure beat the hell out of black dacron crap we used to use!.Caught lots of salmon and steelhead in the great lakes(clear water) on 6lb green xt.Their eyesight is phenomenal. No problem with bass and other species either.I fish with younger anglers a lot. They use the 'fad' stuff, and I usually do as well or better fishing 'old school'.People watch too much advertising.

I've been using Trilene XL since I was a Kid (A Looooong time ago) and still use it for the majority of my freshwater fishing. I can't tell you how many thousands of Bass I've caught on the low vis green.

I’ve suddenly went from 1-2 poles to 6-7 poles with mono these days. I like the suffix advanced, but the big swimbait guys like that trick fish 25lb. Like a million yds for $7.99. I bought a spool that will outlive me. All Mike Bucca throws.

I've used it alot, fresh and salt. Not so much anymore. Any line that thick is a strong line. Line stretch is reduced the heavier the line test. 12lb will stretch faster than 20lb. Most of my line test for bass is 12-16lb test and there's alot of stretch in big game at that test.
Changing rods power does make up for the stretch but now you have a heavier less sensitive rod.

Stren Original, but for no real reason I use Big Game for leader for surf casting, with braid. Absolutely no need to pay up for fluoro, or any other "premium" bull scat line.

I commented on another person's video a few weeks ago. Remember pro anglers are bought and paid for by their sponsors. If a sponsor told them we need to push moon rock weights, then you can bet that is exactly what they are going to do. Plus pro anglers will never reveal what they are really using. So we don't actually know if they are using flouro, or if they are just being told to push it. I think I read that Seagar is the one that developed flouro way back and they are a huge sponsor for all the big bass tourneys so...
There have also been multiple tests done here on youtube showing that flouro stretches just as much as mono with same amount of force and that it may be slightly less visible than mono, but no where near what they claim. So basically you are fishing with a placebo affect in my opinion.

  • @kylemayer8486
    @kylemayer8486 3 місяці тому

Trilene sensation is the only mono I'll throw. It fishes more like a flouro line and is 10-12 bucks for a spool.

Bass Pro Excel..surprisingly really good line for many different techniques...use a palomar knot, as I had a clinch knot slip a couple times... Fluorocarbon is very overrated

Ive been fishing for 30 years and have tried everything. Cheap monos work but not great to fish with. I use spider wire mono the purple box, its smooth and has no memory for baitcasters its great!. Braid i like power pro v2. Flourocarbin is trash it has always broke off so many times fishing i dont use it

I fished tournaments for years and years and Trilene Big game is ALL I use for monofilament. The abrasion resistance, shear strength, and ability to handle shock loading on a hook set is unmatched by any other line. AND ITS CHEAP! Spinning rods and finesse situations I still use Seagar fluorocarbon, but any rod with a pitching, flipping, Texas rig, Carolina rig, crank bait, spinner bait, or any other chunky lure is tied on Big game.

I've used Big Game for years, but never on a spinning reel. I've used it for flipping & pitching, as well as topwaters. Way too much memory, in my opinion, to use for standard cast and retrieve fishing with Texas rigged worms. I want my line to lay flat on the water.

Used Berkeley Trilene XL and XT for over 30 years
    For spinning
    Used Trilene BG for baitcasting
Then I gave Yo-Zuri co-polymer a try and now all I use is Yo-Zuri co-polymer and power pro braid
As I am a non competitive fisherman I just can not find any financially justifiable reason to use fluorocarbon on more than one setup for fishing jigs as I am going to give jig fishing a try for the first time this year
I have two sons who are enthusiastic fisherman so I now have 11 baitcasting setups and 14 spinning setups so I simply can not afford to spend the money on fluorocarbon as I can spool up 5-6 setups with Yo-Zuri co-polymer ($11/600yds) vs one setup with cheap fluorocarbon ($15/150yrds)
I simply can not praise Yo-Zuri co-polymer highly enough it has excellent abrasion resistance excellent knot and breaking strength and in my testing and use is superior in every aspect to Trilene XL, XT or BG
    But
Having said all that FOR THE MONEY you will not beat Trilene Big Game .
Now its 15lb Yo-Zuri co-polymer on all my baitcasting setups except for my dedicated frog fishing setups they have 50lb Power Pro braid
On my spinning setups its 8 or 10lb Yo-Zuri co-polymer
On the advice of the best semi-pro bass angler I know Im going to try fluorocarbon as he gifted me a 160yd spool of 16lb high-end ($28) fluorocarbon to use for my dedicated jig fishing baitcasting setup so Ill see if fluorocarbon gives me an increase in success VS Yo-Zuri co-polymer

Cost is always a issue. Floro prices suck. It's up to you to decide if a few missed fish is worth it. Floro is the better line.
