- Number one reason I fully understand why Clytemnestra did what she did.
Play: Iphigenia at Aulis by Euripides, translation by John Davie
Anyway really sorry about the little pixel corruption at around 4 minutes in, no matter how i tried it didn't want to go away but i managed to keep the video in higher quality! (:
Music used: TW saga Troy OST, Pokemon legends ost, Journey ost - Розваги
No idea how the almighty algorithm brought me to your channel but I'm actually thankful. Amazing work.
Thank you! I really appreciate it (:
Every time I think about Iphigenia’s mom talking to Achilles about the marriage I always think about the line from Overly Sarcastic Productions where Achilles goes “I can’t get married! What will I tell my hetero life partner Patroclus?”
Agamemnon was the WORST DAD EVER!
I have a strained relationship with MY dad, but I know he would never do something as heinous as having me sacrificed to appease a goddess!
He iss! But to give him a little credit he really didn't want to do it? And knew that if not him, someone else would? But still - not cool
This is *wonderful*!
(And - her little antlers!! ❤)
Thank you so much!
Kind of glad where they went with where she lived
I prefer this version as well (:

Glad I could be of help (: and all the luck translating it to latin!!
Its believed the land Artemis took Iphigenia to was Tauris, an area some believe to be in Crimea. It's interesting how much of the world the Greeks knew, as even in the days of Alexander the Great it was known that lands as far away as India existed.
Since Greece is so mountainous and has relatively little arable land, they were forced to go to the sea looking for colonies. This introduced them to all the civilizations around the Mediterranean and the black sea. It'd be no surprise if some Ionian trader heard about India from the Babylonians or the Assyrians. By the time of the Darius, there were extensive roads connecting Mesopotamia to make trade between these distant lands easier
Magnificient video thank you
Glad you liked it! :D
Dude (gender neutral) I love your artstyle and your voice is so soft
ive always considered dude to be pretty gender neutral, its the californian way
Dude is completely alright (:
Thank you so much it really means a lot!
Really enjoyed video. Don't know why I was brought here but it was worth it. Was wondering where in the ending is it believed to differ from the original story?
Thank you! I believe it is by the end where Iphigenia leaves to be sacrificed, but there are some parts throughout the story that are possibly written by someone else.
The play was fully composed after Euripides died so there is also that.
Oldest source is Cypria where Iphigenia is saved. Euripides play Iphigenia in Aulis followed that ending too. Aeschylus and Sophocles did not and had Iphigenia dying instead. Hope it helps!
grand in the way of video production, though if i were to take the big ol hat of "youtuber critic" i think what could be something to work on is your pacing with the story. felt like you were rushing through it/just reading a script. i suppose it is above all else a summary but you totally could add so much more character into the channel!
(love the work though regardless, here's to whatever you do next)
Thank you so much! And thank you for the feedback! I'll definitely try to get better at scripting and reading it afterwards (:
Geez what an awful story. 🤦♂️
You are very underrated tbh
