Ciao Michael ! Ever interesting your stuff for bushcraft. I bought a lot of you suggested accessories. Happy new year Michael ! all the best and take care !
I really want to like winter camping lol you always make it look so easy and cozy. Another great informative video. The leaky smoke looks like a huge problem. Cheers my friend.
Its all fun until you wake up @ 03:00 with the stove out and -30c and you have run out of kindling to restart the stove 😄 But the challenge has always been the attraction to me 👍 Hope you are doing well - Looks like you guys are going to get hit with some heavy snow soon ❄️
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors right now it’s just a little bit of snow but they’re saying tomorrow morning is going to be a sketchy ride into work. I’m right on Lake Michigan so sometimes the lake will warm up the snow into rain. We shall see. But yeah there’s a pretty big system right now over us.
HI Michael. Enjoyed the video. Prompts me to get my stoves out to play with. I am curious what cameras and wireless mic system you are working with these days. Thanks
Hey Mark - Glad to hear from you!! I keep up with all your videos 👍 For a mic system I recommend the DJI Mic - It has 2 wireless transmitters (for interviews, 2 is great), can be used with an iPhone, android phone or normal 3.5mm jack input. I just got an iPhone 15 Pro so I'm using that with an DJI OSMO 6 gimbal for b-roll, selfie shots - So far so good! The DJI Mic plugs in the side of the iPhone and just works beautifully. I have a Sony A7IV full frame camera, but I would not recommend it honestly, unless you like photography in general. Too complicated and expensive to take to tough places. I would maybe take a look at the Sony ZV-1 Mk II with the VLOG kit or the Sony AX43A/AX53 Camcorder . I also have the DJI Action 3 which is a great camera. Hope that helps! 👍
Hi Michael. Thanks for your response. I purchased a Canon M50 a few years ago and have been enjoying using it. I have been thinking of going with something smaller and simpler and more weather resistant. I have been using the RODE Wireless Go mic system. I hd it replaced by RODE twice as it started producing a lot of noise. I am about to replace my cellphone so maybe I will start using that or buy a decent action camera like the DJI@@TheEmporiumOutdoors
@@MarkYoungBushcraft Hi Mark - The M50 is a great camera but I know what you mean about something simpler. What I like about the DJI mic is it connects via USB-C or lightning connector directly to the phone or Action cam (DJI Action). I had the rode mic and sold it. The DJI Action has a rear and forward screen so its great for working solo! Have a great day! 👍
I have done a review on the same stove but didn't have it in a tent. My question is, could you have put the first short pipe on first, then added the damper pipe? I was thinking that the pipe camper was too close to the fire box itself. Growing up, people who had wood burners in their house had the damper up the pipe more. Just a suggestion. I don't have a pipe damper, yet, to try what I suggested, the short pipe on the stove first, then the pipe damper, then the remaining pipe. I think it is a great little stove for what it is. Appreciate you sharing your video and thoughts on the stove. Juddie - J & J TOA
Hi Juddie! Thanks for the comment. Typically the damper on smaller stoves is closer to the stove body so that the gases are kept as much inside the stove as possible for warmth and full combustion. I don't think moving the damper up would change things very much. The likelihood of fully damping down for sleep is unlikely, as you keep a little open to prolong the fire and not put it out. HOWEVER, if the damper was slightly open for sleep and it started to clog, smoke could pour out during the night and cause a serious risk to life. All other stoves I've owned don't exhibit this issue. I really want to fix this stove as there is more right with it than wrong but I have to be honest with the viewers, and warn them of the possibility of smoke inhalation during normal operation. 👍
Excellent review! Thank you. New sub. I am looking for a spec on this stove and i cannot seem to get it. I would like to know the weight of the stove with all the pipes and stuff stored in the stove. Some sources say ≈5 kg and others say around 11 kg. Would you say that the total weight of everything is 5 kg or closer to 11 kg? Thank you.
Its heavy, which is a good and a bad thing. Good for holding the heat but bad if you want to use it on a pulk/sled. I'd say the weight was more like 7.5kg/15lbs. Hope that helps!
Let’s just sit down with a ruler and pencil and design the perfect stove…. It’ll be easy…. 🤣👍 I’ve seen numerous stoves built with that hole on the top and can’t say it’s ever worked as it should, that is a pretty well built stove for that price point, if they could build something similar to the Knico stove for that price point they’d do very well.
Can we please get back to some good camping videos? Bring back the old style videos of you going camping with the dogs setting up camp getting a fire going and cooking some food

Thank you so much 😊
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors my pleasure
Awesome! thank you very much for that!
You're welcome!
That's why youtube is so usefull. Helps us make the right choice. Thank's Michael !!
Happy to help! 👍 and thank you for the comment!
Thank you for the review enjoying the videos
Our pleasure!
The doubled wall looks like it is a second burn air source, so no dampener is needed...
A damper is needed to slow the burn down and keep more heat inside the stove. When there is no upper damper, its very hard to control. 👍
A damper is important to save wood, too. No damper means that the stove will be wide open & eat up wood supply fast.
Thanks very much

Thanks for watching!
so when you made this video it was -50 c up here 50 minutes south of Edmonton with the wind chill it felt like -58 c to damn cold to be outside
Yup we had a cold snap down in the Hat too. -40c static temp 🥶 but next week is +5c 😮
Esme reckons she should write Michael's script for him! More attention to details, she thinks?
Hahaha - I wish she could!!! But with Simon as her agent she always wants too many cookies for a 5 minute script 😆

Yup - Its about the same weight with some nice feature, like the double wall and glass door. A grinder and a bit of welding will fix it 😉
maybe they will take your advise and fix it
I hope so, as overall the stove is great for the money!
I can't believe you got rid of the stove you made. mick
I did - Very sadly - Kind of regret that 😭
Yeah, shouldn't have to modify to get it to function correctly.
Yup - I don't think people who design these cheap stoves have ever used one in a tent 🤔
I brought the wrong tent..
It looks like you're picking up my bad habits 🤣
Hahaha - I was shocked I did that 🤦🏻♂️ lol
