▬ ABOUT THIS VIDEO ▬
Best Mattress for Side Sleepers (with Shoulder & Hip Pain). In this video, JD explains our top picks for the best mattress for side sleepers, particularly those with shoulder pain and hip pain. That said, we are not guaranteeing these beds will work for you. We are not doctors or chiropractors, just passionate folks that want to help others sleep better.
Casper Nova: We put this bed on the list because it's feather-soft. We rate it at about a 2-4 or what we call a medium-soft, but it's really really pressure relieving. There's a good chance that it's one of the softest beds you've ever laid on. If you want some of the perks, but a slightly firmer bed, you'll likely prefer Casper Wave Hybrid.
WinkBed: If support is key to you, WinkBed is among the best, if not the best. It's a really great bed with two layers of coils. It also has the fluffy, soft pillow top. If you're looking for a more plush bed, you might like the "Softer" model from WinkBeds.
Layla Hybrid: This is a really soft memory foam bed, but it also has the coils for a little extra bounce and support. If you like memory foam, but want plush mattress, there's a good chance you'll be fond of Layla. We could see it being helpful if you're suffering from hip pain or shoulder pain.
Nolah: If you like that soft foam feel, but don't want the true memory foam feel, Nolah is a great bed to check out. It's made entirely of foam and has a soft, pressure relieving feel to it.

I wish I could see someone laying on the bed without the cover on every review. As well as someone laying close to the edge to see how the layers compress. I really appreciated seeing you on the bed without the cover on this review. Thank you!
I would absolutely love the Layla Hybrid since it’s meant for heavier folks and I would love the extra support while also being able to enjoy the memory foam feel!
Gotta love a pillow top.
I would unquestionably go with the Wink bed. I am a combination back and side sleeper and suffer from arthritis and joint issues. The coil on coil hybrid design would fit a tall frame such as myself and provide durability and longevity. The pillow top looks supportive and plush enough to help with my shoulders and hips and looks like it would sleep cool as I'm also a hot sleeper. This is a bucket list mattress for me.
I would choose the WinkBed Mattress. I like the sound of the "thicker, burley hybrid mattress out of Wisconsin." I also like the sound of the pocketed coils with a second layer above of the micro coils. And then all topped off with the nice fluffy pillow top with a tencil cover. Sounds perfect for me. But the Casper Nova sounds great too- always liked the sound of that "zoned support." Great review.
Thanks for sharing this info. Will definitely check into the Layla mattress.
Thank you for your video reviews. Buying the right mattress has been challenging!
These videos are so informative. I'm a side sleeper so I found this very helpful information.
The wink bed, because of the coils it would last longer and I love pillow top mattresses, they are my favorites!
Thanks for this video! I'd go with the Casper Nova, as it has the airscape 2 feature, and the zone support!
Out of this list, I would definitely pick the Wink bed! It's more up my alley with the coils and pillow top cover. I'm a bigger person so the hybrid would be a better fit for me. The Layla Hybrid also looks pretty cool with the flip label design but I think overall, I would choose the Wink bed!
I would choose the Casper Nova! I like that it is made with zone-support to help with pressure relief. I also appreciate the holes in the top layer for proper air flow. I’m a hot sleeper, so this is very important to me. Overall, I think has the best features for a good night’s sleep 😴
Although I really like the zoned support of the casper nova and that the layla has 2 sides to choose from I think I would go with the winkbed.I just looks so comfortable!! (Love that its a hybrid )
I would love either the Winkbed or the Layla hybrid. Both look great for heavier side sleepers.
This is very helpful as I Am looking for a hybrid mattress for durability and one easy on the joints.
I would definitely go with the Winkbed, it looks so cozy and it would suit me as a side sleeper.
This is a tough one! I might just go with the nolah this time since I don’t love or hate memory foam and that bed is a blended version 👍🏼 sounds comfy!
Winkbed would be my choice been wanting to try them for awhile and they offer a mattress for heavier sleepers! Perfect 😊
I have been researching a mattress for side sleepers for a few months now. Happy also have hip pain. And keep coming back to the wink bed!
I would prefer the Winkbed. As always, thank you for another AWESOME review! I hope you all are staying happy, healthy, and safe! Also, thank you for the opportunity to win!
The bed that I would choose did not make the list 🙁. The Purple Hybrid Premier 3" sleeps cooler than anything with memory foam and gives perfect "No pressure" support.
Great information thanks!
Thank you for your guidance
I would probably pick the Layla hybrid mattress since it can be flipped so it would be nice to have a firm and soft side. Next would probably be the Casper Nova but that is on the expensive scale for a mattress but like that it is a hybrid mattress since I am a bit heavier they would both be good for me.
I would choose the Casper Nova. I like soft all foam beds
I would pick the Winkbed, being a side sleeper with shoulder pain, this review was made for me 😊
Great info! Can the Casper Nova be put on an adjustable frame?
I'm leaning towards picking wink bed. It comes up on a huge amount of your videos and seems to fit the bill. I do like the two sides of Layla though.
I would probably go with the Nolah mattress since that airfoam looks interesting
The casper nova would probably be my go-to
I have the WinkBed softer queen. For the first few months, it was great. However, It is now causing pain in my shoulders and neck. I'm in the process again of looking for a new mattress. Maybe the Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Medium?
I would choose the Winkbed. I'm not a fan of all memory foam structure because I don't like the stuck feeling. I have a bad back and I turn constantly at night. I have shoulder pain from my current bed. I think a winkbed would be awesome.
Thank you for doing all the research for us all it's really helping! I am a side sleeper with hip shoulder and lower back pain, i weigh about 123 lbs, do you think i need a hybrid or just memory foam?
Awesome research.
I would choose the Layla hybrid. I enjoy the versatility of it being flippable.
This is a tough choice, but I would choose the Casper Nova. Seems like a great bed
I do fancy a pillow top, so I'd venture to say the Wink. Thanks Chaps!
Monthly Mattress Club: I'm typically a side /combination sleeper and used to wonder why my shoulders randomly got pulled out of place. It turned out, I've never owned a proper mattress for my sleep style; just whatever was cheapest.
I love the design and looks of Casper Nova, but WinkBed just seems more supportive over time with the variety of layers it carries.
Did you get a good mattress for your side sleeping?
The Casper wave looks nice comfy and cooling but I don't think it's going to have as much pressure relief as the Layla hybrid I would pick the Layla
Im thinking the Wink bed. I would like to try the 2 sets if coils
Intro song 🎵 sold me. The lyrics are literally want I've been grumbling about lately..
With all the mattress choices I think the Layla mattress is genius, two mattresses in one. Having shoulder, hip and back pain the Layla mattress would be my choice.
I would choose the Winkbed--only because it has two separate layers of coils--one microcoils, the other individually wrapped--curious as to how that would provide support---and the more coils, the less foam=better mattress imo.
Giveaway Question:
I like the Winkbed.
I appreciate a bed manufactured in the USA 🇺🇸. I’m a strict side sleeper and I believe the Winkbed or maybe the Nolan or Casper Nova would work for me. Good job putting all these videos together. I so look 👀 forward to seeing your next video as the content is spot on. Thank you for all your hard work and time put in to make these videos. Take care, stay well.
Wink is my choice of mattress I would pick
I LOVE THE LAYLA. I HOPE I CAN ACTUALLY GET ONE ONE DAY
Winkbed would be my first choice. Second, is the Layla bed. I really like that the 😉bed looks more like a traditional bed, so I assume the feel would be the same.
I would pick the wink bed because I suffer with shoulder pain and I just think it’s the best choice for me
Any recommendations for higher quality beds? I went to a store in NYC where you can try all these. So glad I did because when you see them in person, you realize many of them are cheap construction. I was so disappointed with helix and wink. These are always in the same, seemingly recycled, lists of recommended. In my opinion they looked and felt cheap. My last mattress purchase of the Brentwood Home Oceano and this is much more sophisticated in looks and quality.
Giveaway: from this list, I would probably choose the Casper Nova due to the “memory foam yet not memory foam” feel. But since I am a stomach sleeper, all of mattresses listed are actually too soft for me. Would love to see some more stomach sleeper videos (especially with some non-hybrid options).
Giveaway: From the list I think winkbed seems like it would be best for us. Gosh the Casper Nova looks good too!
Giveaway: Layla Hybrid for sure! Looks incredible and 2 firmness options... SOLD!
Thanks for the video dudes
Giveaway the winkbed seems like the perfect bed for me as the extra supporting coils and also the pillow top layer looks extremely comfortable
Giveaway: Golly this topic is what I need!! Hard to choose but maybe Casper.
Probably go with the Layla Hybrid!
Giveaway: hey guys, thanks so much for all the information you give on your videos. Really does help uninformed people like me to narrow down my search. I currently have lots of lower back and shoulder pains so I think the wink bed would be my top pick currently...
I love pillow top feel beds
Gonna stick with Casper for now! I just love always thinking of Casper the ghost
Giveaway: I would choose the Casper Nova because of its support in the lower back and obliques and softness in the hip and shoulders. I think it will be best for relieving pain without too much softness or firmness in various parts of the body.
J.D.!!!!! I'd have to say the Wink Plus sounds like the winner here, but the race for first is tight between Wink and Casper Nova
This is the video for me! I'm a side sleeper with terrible hip pain and these are the mattress reviews I've been searching for!!! Thanks! Giveaway entry
Nolah or Winkbed sound great for me to take the pressure off my hips and shoulders.
Giveaway Answer: I'd go with the Casper Nova this time. After you said medium soft, great for someone like me who wakes up with shocking shoulder pain 😨. The layers looked simple and harmonious. Peaceful journey to the Nova Dreamland 💤💤,💤
Giveaway: Its a tie between the Layla Hybrid because I loveeeeee that it has two options where you can simply just turn it over, I think that’s extremely great! And I would also like the Winkbed because it’s sounds comfortable and I like the pillow top for extra comfort.
Layla! Perfect for cervicogenic headaches and shoulder pain.
Do you have one? My headaches and sciatica have me on my 4th mattress in 3 years. Now I’m “trapped” with only being able to get one from Costco, lol.
Do you have foam or hybrid Layla. I’m dying with my headaches. Thanks.
I would choose the Layla Hybred for the options in sleeping...
Casper nova interest me the most
Out of if these beds, I would choose the Wink mattress.
Giveaway: This was the perfect video for me as a side sleeper and i would choose the Nolah mattress for the pressure relief in my painful hips
I’m definitely a side sleeper!
Giveaway: I’d choose the Layla Hybrid or the WinkBed since I’m heavier and need more support. I like that you can flip the Layla Hybrid, so I would probably go for that one first.
Giveaway answer: I'm really interested in the Casper Nova, so that would be my pick as an active side sleeper.
Giveaway question: I believe I like the feature set of the Winks bed
My 👍🏼 is just for the host’s cuteness. 😉
Giveaway: I'd most likely go for the Winkbed out of this list. I've been hearing more and more great things about them.
Side sleeper here, with scoliosis. Honestly don't know what kind of firmness I like best 😅
do a trial run of all the beds
I’m an all-over-the-place sleeper with scoliosis & I have found that a medium firm works best for me. I end up hurting for days, if not weeks, after sleeping on a soft bed. I thought the firmer the better, but recently slept on a super firm bed & had a rough time getting comfortable. Hope this helps.
Giveaway: casper nova is the mattress i've been saving up for every since i started watching your guys videos!
Giveaway: I prefer hybrid beds, so I would go for either the winkbed or Layla hybrid. I'm leaning more towards the Layla because it is flippable.
Giveaway: From this list the Casper Nova definitely stands out as I am a side sleeper with hip and shoulder pain. The others have good features but wouldn’t suit me as well as the Casper.
Giveaway: the Layla hybrid looks attractive because for starters it's a hybrid that heavier people can use and also it has the dual side options so you can try out whatever side firmness is best for your pain.
Giveaway. Nova sounds excellent
Giveaway: I’d probably go with the Nolah as I’d prefer a softer all foam bed
Nice video! Shoulders are such a problem!
If I had to chose one, I'd try the Wink! IF I had to. Lol
Giveaway: Good Morning Slumber Yard and Hello from WA!🌲 I would choose the Layla Hybrid. This mattress is so accommodating for all sleepers with it’s flippable side option. I’m pregnant, so the softer side would be accommodating to me as I need to strictly sleep on my side. After pregnancy, I most likely would flip it to the more firmer side😊
Giveaway: I think I would probably go with the winkbed, but I've also been watching a lot of your other videos and I am also considering the bear hybrid for that celliant cover
Giveaway: I would prefer the winkbed, looks so comfy with that pillow top.
I've been considering the Winkbed for a while now, and this video helps confirm that decision, I'm gonna give it a try. Now I'm just not sure if I should get the softest option or the medium-soft??
Did you get the Winkbed,? How did that turn out for you? I’m lost with my mattress journey.
Giveaway: CASPER NOVA! oh my gosh, this would be perfect for my petite under 130 pound frame, and be supportive enough for my husband! YES! Thanks for this review!
Giveaway: really hard to choose between winkbed and layla hybrid as i always loved layla but winkbed is gorgeous bed too and i am side sleeper can say combination sleeper and since i move the nee mattress is giving me hip pain every morning i ll for any one of it depends upon the deals which is suitable for me i ll prefer winkbed but wont shy if layla has a deal
Giveaway: I think the Layla hybrid looks amazing
Giveaway: I likely would choose Layla for it support of hips but I am also tempted by Casper.
Giveaway: gotta go with that layla. How can you go wrong with a multiple choice mattress?
I think purple should of been on this list
Easily choose the WinkBed amongst these options.
Giveaway: out of these beds I would choose the Wink bed or the Layla Hybrid.
Giveaway: I would choose the Layla Hybrid because it gives me teo different firmness options
Giveaway: I would probably go with the Layla hybrid.
Luckily, I don’t have pain, but I know some people who do, so I’ll plaza it along! 👍🏻
Giveaway:The Layla hybrid looks like it would be a great option.
Thanks for all the reviews on beds... I am still undecided.... Ugh
