Who remembers the Fab Five 2? The five that tried to resurrect Michigan basketball after the original Fab Five had everything stripped from them, but didn't come close to living up to the high school hype.
That wasn't true about the original. I was on campus then. Everyone knew that there was hatred going on between the the upper class men especially from Detroit. Talley purposely told Webber to call that time out. Look at who Webber was yelling at. And remember who took Talley spot in line up the year before. Cooley and Southwestern had a rivalry
Empire Strikes Back, Back to Future 2, Superman 2, Spiderman 2, Dark Knight etc. Very rare. And yes, Webber left because he was ridiculed / ostracized on campus after the game.
Those squads with mo taylor, Louis bullock, maceo baston, and Robert traylor was the squad i thought that would turn it around for Michigan. I loved watching them when i was younger. Those squads were fun to watch here in Detroit in the 90’s. Salute to Maurice Taylor. Henry Ford High School legend and salute to traylor(R.I.P.) Murray Wright High School legend.
I had a class with Willie at Pershing High in Detroit. He really had NBA potential it just didnt pan out at U-M, and Maceo was a rim terror. Quick and very precise when around that hoop, ready to slam it down
My guy Willie Mitchell...seen him dunk on 2 dudes at Pershing from a step inside the free throw My pops would tell me to stop playing Willie Mitchell D when I would reach and not move my feet
That's crazy you are doing a video on Michigan 1995-1998 team...I was just watching their games on UA-cam...I was just watching Michigan at MSU in 1996 game and was watching Michigan vs Purdue in 1997...That class was good with Maurice Taylor,Robert Traylor and Louis Bullock who could shoot the ball...They just didn't fit in with Steve Fisher's coaching...They had potential to learn and become Big Ten Champs and maybe get to the Finals Four but they just didn't have it in them
I'm from Michigan and was in high school when this team was together. Baston was a beast dunking on everybody and solid on defense as well. Travis Conlan was turnover city. We needed a real pg. But the real team was when Traylor, Bullock, & White came. That squad was crucial! They had a classic game against Duke!
Do some research my friend, far from Turnover City…. 1.7 per gam Bobby Hurley 531 (4yr) Matters Cleeves 470 (4yr) Cassius Winston 374 (4yr) Rumeal Robinson 331 (3yr) Kalin Lucas 324 (4yr) Steph Curry 314 (3yr) Isiah Thomas 244 (2yr) Travis Conlan 217 (4yr)
Imo, as far as the first stunt goes I don't think there was an issue of being unwanted I just think Coach Fisher knew what time it was as far as the true ability of the fab five 2. Coach may have saw the hype getting to their heads and decided the youngsters needed a public reality check.
I remember watching the original 5, of course, but I thought Maceo and Maurice were gonna revive Michigan. Ah well, they were still dope college players.
THEY WAS TELLING HIM TO CALL TIMEOUT ITS ON VIDEO NEVERTHELESS WHO ARE "YOU" TO CALL ANYONE A CHOKER WHEN IM SURE YOU'VE NEVER HAD TO DEAL WITH THE ONE OF A KIND PRESSURE THEY HAD!!!
IDC what anyone says but I’m an OSU fan but I was rooting for the Fab five for sure during their runs. Seriously doubt we’ll every see an all freshman team of that caliber ever again. Those dudes put on a show every time they went out on the floor. 🏆
Didn’t Traylor make it to the league too? You hardly, if at all mention him in your review of the “Fab Five 2”. And what about White who ultimately transferred. In that time period, Michigan recruited Top 30 players. Ward, White, Traylor, Taylor, Mitchell, Conlan, Bastion. If not for injuries, transferring & playing time, Who knows what would’ve been..
@Stunted Growth Few Suggestions: Carlos Arroyo Rudy Fernandez Raja Bell Courtney Lee Leandro Barbosa Sasha Pavlovic Kevin Martin Hakim Warrick Andrie Karlinko Ak47 Antonio Daniel's Jarred Jeffries Rodrigue Beaubois
I'll never forget the hype behind Ward... it was crazy. He was just never healthy and never did anything. Maurice Taylor was a stud tho and Maceo was an athletic freak. Conlon and Mitchell were letdowns for sure. I thought Willie Mitchell was gonna be the man tho... just never happened
@@jamesblack6226 I saw an interview with Jalen Rose, where he said Ray Jackson was purposely kept out of the league. He made a comment, said something like Ray sacrificed the most, if he(Ray) would've taken the scholarship to Texas he would've been in the NBA.
BS I WAS A HUGE FAN ON THEM!!! THEY ARE STILL THE ONLY CLASS OF FRESHMEN TO MAKE IT TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. AND ALMOST WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP OVER DUKE!! A POWERHOUSE PROGRAM WHO MY FAVORITE TEAM THE GREATEST COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAM OF ALL TIME THE RUNNIN REBELS OF UNLV STOMPED BY WHAT IS STILL A NCAA ASS WHOOPING RECORD IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. THE FAB 5 WERE LIKE ROCK STARS. THEY WERE ONE STEP AWAY FROM REACHING THEIR APEX!! NO WAY THAT LEVEL OF TALENT STAYS IN SCHOOL FOR FOUR YEARS!! AND THEY DIDNT!
Actually they were. Mo, Rob Traylor, and Maceo Baston all made it to the NBA at a point. Willie was good too but couldn't get his head on straight. Big Al white was good too but they wouldn't give him the PT so he left.
Dugan fife was horrible. They could not have had a worst player on their team. Just a waste . Could not shoot guard or rebound. He had the nerve to speak on Chris Webber . Travis Conlan, was decent he was 10x better then Dugan Fife . His name said it all
These guys were definitely not as talented as the original FAB FIVE..Three lottery picks?..heck naw..not even close..TAYLOR AND BASTON made it..but they never moved the needle..
Chris Weber never seemed to be as mentally prepared to be a superstar as a Shaq or Duncan was. Very talented but seemed to always come up short when his teams needed him the most.
Who remembers the Fab Five 2? The five that tried to resurrect Michigan basketball after the original Fab Five had everything stripped from them, but didn't come close to living up to the high school hype.
i rem them. dope era and style of college bball
Great research
Jalen is not great he's a bum

Talley purposely told Webber to call that time out. Look at who Webber was yelling at. And remember who took Talley spot in line up the year before. Cooley and Southwestern had a rivalry
You can also add in the coaching style or system. This team should have been a pressing team. They had no post up type player, to get an easy basket.
Just goes to show the depth of those squads. 90s college basketball was must see TV.
Sequels rarely live up to the original ..
Truth
Some rarely surpass.
Empire Strikes Back, Back to Future 2, Superman 2, Spiderman 2, Dark Knight etc. Very rare. And yes, Webber left because he was ridiculed / ostracized on campus after the game.
I never even knew there was a second Fab Five!

Indeed. Robert Traylor was a beast.
My potna was on that team Brandun Hughes
This is one of the best basketball channels on UA-cam
it is the best 👌
Man this squad had me amped after the fab five. Shout out Mo Taylor. Detroit Henry Ford legend
FACTS! Mo Taylor was a BEAST back in the day. But he did have a few good seasons with the Clippers though.
Fab five changed basketball point blank period let's give them they're flowers
NO THEY DIDN'T & THE REAL FAB FIVE THAT CAME BEFORE THEM ACTUALLY WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

@@jp2Ten numbers don't tell the whole story. He was suspect with the ball. Bad decision making. I watched the games.

Awesome Video👍
Thought this was going to be about the early 2000s Michigan team with Daniel Horton and his freshman class. That’d be an interesting video as well
I believe it’s pronounced “May-see-o Baast-yun”. Good work as always though.
I recognized that too. You are correct.
Do one for Patrick McCaw, currently in the G league after blowing off the Warriors cause he wanted more PT.
and he got 2 rings lol !

Who was the NBA's 1st 100 million dollar contract man? Juwan Howard
Crazy, still had a decent career with longevity

Yeah. Especially Mo Taylor. But he probably was TOO close to home.
Can you do Tim Headache Gittens & Kenny Bad Santa Brunner
I mentioned for u to do a cover on Jerod Ward before👍🏼
Great video 👍🏾👍🏾
Salute to University of Michigan Mens Basketball! From Joubert to Hickison!Go Blue!

Do you have an Will Salomon video ?? If so we need one
Never even heard of the fab five 2 until now.
FAB FIVE 3 & THATZ CAUSE YOU'RE NOT A HOOP HEAD!!!
They most definitely made the tournament go check that, they also Won the first big ten tournament championship
I’d like to see you do Alex Len 5th overall pick that just never lived up to the hype.
My friend said Jerad Ward was by far the best player on the Team he said no one could guard him and no one wanted to guard him!
They were a Fab Five in name only. They were injured, and ultimately not good enough on the court. 🤷
Wow! I have no recollection of them at all. I only remember the original Fab 5.
THAT WASNT THE ORIGINAL FAB FIVE IT WAS HIGGINS,ROBINSON, MILLS,VAUGHT & RICE THE CLASS BEFORE THEM WHO THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 1989!!!
The amount of talent they had, they underachieved
I GUESS YOU'RE JUST GONNA OVERLOOK THE INJURIES!!!
Nice
Willie Mitchell and Pershing destroyed my hometown high school in the state finals Back to Back years.
I think if they didn't get into that accident they win a chip with Mateen cleaves
UNLV rebels team 1991 next
SpongeBob catching strays
As a Michigan State fan, I laughed at the fab 5 2, imo they had some good players. But never should have labeled them fab 5 2
Fab 5 and no Young Dro? Man please! I give up!

Carlos Arroyo
Rudy Fernandez
Raja Bell
Courtney Lee
Leandro Barbosa
Sasha Pavlovic
Kevin Martin
