Fitting Rock Sliders And Wheel Arches Land Rover Defender 110 Puma 90 TD5 Part 33 Off Road

- In this episode I refit my nicely painted wheel Arches and my new Rock Sliders.
A little alteration was needed but overall really happy with the quality.
I will be removing the driver side Rock Slider and welding the bracket on properly as there is a little bit of bodywork repair is needed on the Drivers B Pillar.

If that had have been me, I would have been scratching my head for a week and the rock sliders would be sat in the corner of the garage for ever more probably used for hanging my coat on, hidden with a couple of planks, so the Mrs doesn’t see them.
The Landry is looking sweet mate keep it going.
Haha Thanks Lee. I bought the Rock Sliders months ago. If I had a little more time I would have cut the mount off and welded it on properly but that can be a job for later in the year. I didnt have a choice but to make them fit as I really didn't want to fit those sills back on 🤣
Is it only me? but id be gutted having to do all that work to make them fit. Bet they wern't cheap. Think id be sending them back..
I was a bit miffed at first but I've had them over a year so couldn't really send them back. Because ive already booked the test and need to Landy on the road I just thought I will make them fit. I do like the look and they are not the most expensive on the market. Off the top of my head I think they were around £130 delivered.
I bought some rock / tree sliders from a show a few years ago, offered them up to my 110 and I really didn't like them.... I kept looking and the only rock slider mounting I've seen that i thought was any good were from First Four... Unfortunately he stopped making them by the time I was ready to buy..... I went Bowler sliders in the end very nice and suit my 110 well, but pricey 😂

Thank you! Yes I was in a similar situation thats why i put a coating of gloss black over the top. I also have a nice welder now so i can complete the modification properly.
Oooo very nice! Another company to look at is Uproar 4x4. They do very nice sliders and bumpers like your Bowler ones 👍
@@lifes.projects I could have made my own sliders, but I'm getting lazy!..... They would have ended up waaaay too over engined though 😂
I looked at Uproar, and decided if I was spending that much cash i would go Bowler...

Watching you struggle with the bulkhead mounts made me glad I copperslipped every bolt on my 90 when she was new, and also waxoyled everything.. Makes me wonder why I'm doing a full restoration??
I think LR should have done that from the factory. Can you imagine how many chassis would still be ok. It would have given them a better reputation.

Hi Gary. Its through the top of the door frame. The light bar was already fitted when i bought it not the best way but I don't want to drill through the roof as I am not sure if i will be keeping the light bar.
Hi, I was wondering where I can buy the exact wheel arches you installed in this video. They fit your car perfect. There seems to be a wide range of pricing and quality for "OE" wheel arches.
These arches are genuine LR one that were on my defender. The only thing I have done is spray them Black.
Just curious, did the mot change this month regarding LED light upgrades if not originally fitted would be failures ?
It only matters for the headlights/beam pattern. Basically its fails the MOT if you have xenon conversions or aftermarket xenon headlamps in. Thats why the standard ones are in for the MOT 👀.
Thank u .I have cracked a wheel arch , do they just unbolt ? Mine look continuous 2014 defender 🤔
They are held on with plastic clips.
Push the centre out and the you can remove the clip. I would recommend getting new clips as the old are usually brittle. The clips are cheap to buy

The bottom of the centre door piller really needs painting it's annoying
Yes its getting done as soon as its back on the road. Theres a few other bits that need blowing over as well. I am having that done properly at a bodyshop I know.
