- Today, Arturia has released the V Collection X with various new plugins, including a remake of its popular Minimoog emulation, the Mini V, now Mini V4.
It has a new sound engine with polyphony support, a new multi-FX section and modulation engine, and a vintage knob. Here is an Arturia Mini V4 sound demo.

This sounds absolutely awesome! Arturia keep on delivering the goods.
Thanks posting! Been on the fence about whether or not to upgrade, but this new engine alone almost makes it worth it!
Incredible to be able to have access to so many amazing synths. Even better that I can sneak them into the house without anyone knowing.
Nothing like the real thing however.
@@urbanman1516 if you have too much money/space then yes... (or you were lucky and could still buy them when they were relatively cheap in the 80s/90s).
lol
That's also the danger of these things kinda
@@urbanman1516More than good enough now though with huge positives.
I feel you my man about the sneaking them into the house. I don’t have to explain why I just bought over 30 new keyboards. 😊
Sounds good... so after many years they reached the level of Synapse The Legend. 😄
Sorry, the legend has lots of effects that make up the sound. Mini V4 is pure raw analog sound.
compared to the previous version it's night and day. poly sounds and presets are also pretty great. but model 72 from softube still sounds better to me, I can't pinpoint why as I've never used the real minimoog. there is just something in this softube synth that makes the sound thicker, I also like the limitations as it's mono and has no fx, just like the real synth. still, v4 is a huge improvement overall
This is the only thing that really convinces me about this new collection.
Just bought the upgrade to V Collection X
Nice !
your getting a memorymoog
THIS REALLY MAKES ME ANGRY!!!! I just purchase the V collection on Dec. 5th during the Black Friday Sale. All that money and I missed out on getting the new things that were added. Thats NOT RIGHT. Had I waited a few days I could have gotten the new version with more instruments for the same price!!!!!!!! They also sent me a notification that I can upgrade my instruments I just purchased at $49 each and an Upgrade for the whole V collection at a cost $199 which what the new version is on sale for. So if I were to upgrade I be paying double. CRAZY!!!!!!!!!
Yep, Arturia used to be reasonable with upgrades, and now they're a money grabbing h***. You're now expected to give Arturia ~$299 every year, to upgrade to the latest. I've stopped playing that game a couple of years ago.
For those that can still decide, take a look at U-He's synths, and Arturia Pigments. Some combo of those will cover all your synth needs, ...unless GAS.
It's never the right time to buy software... after the update is before the update... you got the V collection for a really good price - enjoy it! You can't expect that they bring out a new product and put it on black friday sale immediately. Just be a bit patient and wait for the next discount phase - then you surely can upgrade for a lower price.
It's not that exciting anyway. Sounds good but still not all the way convincing as an analog synth. Doesn't mean it's not good or worthy of a track but if you want a mini moog clone cheap go for the Behringer D. No polyphony, no FX, and doesn't rely on them. One OSC saw wave patch with simple envelope filter will be enough to show you, even on a UA-cam video
The full price of the V Collection is $600, so it seems like you're getting a significant discount.
i had same experience some years ago, then i sell my V-collection, since Version 3 i am out of the Game
Sounds like an Arturia plugin. Feedback still sounds wrong as well. All that ever seems to happen on these supposed sound engine revamps of theirs is the harmonics and pitch wobble around a bit more
I bet you couldn't pick out an Arturia plug-in in a blind test.
@@bonchbonch I've been a fan of the Mini B3 for years because there was nothing better. I recently bought a Uad Moog and realized that I was wasting time trying to squeeze at least a semblance of sound out of the Mini V3. Let's see how B4 is doing
Looking good... so what else do you get in X? 😂 currently can't get in the website. Looks like it's busy!
home resonance was made with this
thanks for the great demo of quite a few of my presets Tom, glad you liked them! :)
This must have been a fun job!
@@BF-up5xw for sure! I always enjoy the challenge and as soon as I heard how much better the new version is I was excited to see what I could do with it!
I really want to like it. For some reason I'm not feeling moved like I do when hearing a real one. I do love Arturia's lineup in general. I haven't heard a virtual mini that has sounded like anything other than a generic softsynth yet, though.
I hear ya. I absolutely love Arturia but I’ve gone analog for these sounds.
I skipped VC8 and VC9 - will not be skipping this.
The V Collection is the real "collector's edition", and didn't cost me a couple grand.
This is kinda random but, i have a poly d from behringer, and it has made me wish more vsts were capable of Paraphoic poly modes, is something like that available here?
I demoed v4. Think v3 sounds alot better.
basically now it sounds more lofi and gretty.
like to hear this aside the NI Monark - I suspect V4 may finally may be a contender!
Tried softubes model 72?
@@johanh9637 Tried uad moog?
@@johanh9637 model72 sounds bad on lower notes, bass falls apart, uad sounds great
Always felt Monark sounded pretty basic and not very good at emulation. This eats Monark for breakfast (to me).
I was owner since VC3… owner of VC9 and FX4 now, plus bunch of sound libraries too. Now I got an offer to upgrade for 199€. 😢
Thanks. Waiting for VC13.
you can wait for a sale then you will be able to upgrade for 99€. That is what I will do as well (or skip this altogether).
Yeah i purchased collection 9 three weeks ago... If i knew 10 was about to release... Either way the sounds are great... Having a few more synths would have been nice... I'll probably just bite the bullet and spend the $199... But im sure theyll be another sale by Spring or summer too...
Same here. Plus Pigments. 149 to upgrade. I'll wait for 99.
@@mynickisnick4302 Arturia must know im a GAS enthusiast... haha... im in no rush to upgrade either... Collection 9 is more than enough for me currently I'm just itching...
Sounds nothing like a Model D Minimoog
😂😂 guess you can’t do sound design then
Very nice, can anyone recommend a ROLAND ALPHA JUNO plug in? It seems nobody wants to release a hardware clone of this amazing synth, A KORG 707 FM clone would be nice too
PeaceFromOz ✌️
Redominator is the only one out there, and it's quite old and not quite up to the standard of newer synth emulations. Hopefully someone else makes one someday...
@@michaelarthurholloway9539 I saw that and was thinking about buying it.
Cheers
I think TAL just made one called TAL pha. I haven’t tried it but I do have their Juno and Jupiter plugins and love both
Thank you for showcasing a couple of our sounds next to the other marvellous sounds from the other sound designers Tom! Great video, since people can get a sense what this beast can do! Kudos!
It's an okay sounding sense but it doesn't sound anything like a minimoog to me.
😂😂😂 cope more
Nope just more disk space and a pretty picture.
Still sounds a bit artificial in my opinion. It lacks the raw oomph of some of the other emulations. IMHO Native Instruments Monark and Softube Model 72 still nail it way better (except softube model72 feedback feature is completely broken and not at all like a real mini).
a tip I always say: download the demo and play it on your system with your monitors. These demos have the classic UA-cam compression :)
I see they went with the “similar but legally distinct from UAD” skin 🤣
basically the true minimoog layout
The filter has a nasal timber that doesn't resemble the real minimoog.
According to you.
