about the mines, they only explode when a ship or sub brushes against the metal stick things sticking out if it. how it works is the ship or sub touches and breaks. basically the metal parts sticking out are it's fuses or something, the ship or what ever breaks these metal sticks when is brushes against it, when it breaks the metal part on the inside goes inside the bomb, completes that charge and goes boom.
It’s also possible that as they are most likely very old the small impact from the torpedo set one off which in turn set them all off.

You’re right about the mines except for they are extremely unstable so sometimes they randomly go off for no reason hence they don’t really do anything with them they just mark it as a no entry zone because they can go off at anytime due to the water damage

Based on the way they looked in the movie, it would show reason that they were very old this VERY sensitive/HIGHLY unstable

To answer the question, the mines trigger when a “pointy thingy” is pushed in, but as with most explosives, left exposed and decaying can cause them to become extra delicate when they’re live, meaning sometimes a simple tap could detonate it :)

sorry but incorrect, modern mines are actually detonated by disturbance in electromagnetic fields this is why minesweeper ships are made mostly of plastic, ofc there are mines that use physical contact to explode but there iss no such "pin" to be pushed the spikes are just sensors. if there were pins, they would have to be pushed at a very specific angle to detonate so that would be impractical.
