I walked in to a dealership on February 17/24 because I noticed that they got a CW December 14th.
They wanted 20k over I literally told them that they couldn't sell it in December and January the two biggest selling months of the year.
So they are asking too much for the market or they don't have a customer for it.
They came back with 5k over. I asked them if they finance their inventory and how much interest they are accrued for 2 months so far. As the sales manager was on the phone with the GSM. He came back looking defeated and wrote the deal up for MSRP.
january and december is the two biggest selling months of the year? 💀
Purchased and drove home same day with a FL5 Championship White Type R yesterday afternoon. Under MSRP they wanted $51,800( after market adjustment ?? - LOL yea that aint happenin'). Dealers will deal if you have a clue. Top Tip: If the owner is there just ask to speak with them directly which is what I did. No one else to muck about with; no "let me check with my manager". Go directly to the top just be prepared to put your money where your mouth is. This is such a fun car. Only thing I would change is the exhaust as it is way to quiet. Enjoy everyone.
I paid over MSRP for a used 2019 FK8 back in the spring of 2022.
However, I live in the middle of nowhere Maine, and one happened to pop up right near where I live which never happens. So for me I paid extra but it was a super convenient situation.
Thanks for the info. I will going through this process with the GR Corolla soon. Wish me luck
Good luck!
The rally red does look pretty sexy!! I don't know why ppl would want the bland championship white. I often wonder if they made a limited number of Pearl Black 2023 FL5's. My favorite color by far!
the Champ white looks better on the FK8, I think the best color on the FL5 is red or black. I hope they bring back that darker blue that was sold on the FK8
I’m having a hard time believing Atlanta Honda sold you a fl5 for just 2k over when they sold 2 for 10k over that makes no sense
I paid MSRP in 2020 for my FK8 and still own my 2019 rallye red FK8 and would only get the FL5 in red or maybe white at MSRP I still love the FK8 so I'm not in a hurry to get into an FL5. Totally agree with finances as well I'm not really able to get another new vehicle yet in a couple years I'm just saving money for now
That red looks 🙌
I gotta say that I agree!
I’ve been looking for over a year. I’ve called over 300 dealers from California to Florida. I give up
I can get you msrp if your looking for a 2024 Civic type R
@@jpthedon Where and how?
@@trigganometry168 I work at a dealership in Brooklyn New York I have inventory
@trigganometry168 if you get a good deal let us know in the comments. Thanks
@@jpthedon. Color? Any added accessories?
I have a CW Type R coming in next month for msrp in central Nc, only dealer around me that’s not 2-5K over.
Great video! I bought my 2017 FK8 when they first came out using this exact method. Most dealerships selling cars at MSRP had a long waiting list of customers who placed deposits. I recently acquired my FL5 in Honolulu for an amazing price, perhaps the lowest price paid for a Type R on island. It does take work, however well worth the effort.
Which dealer? Windward and tony wanted over $10k over msrp that’s crazy
@@roninbushito Pacific Honda
Give me some tips lol. I’m in Honolulu also. You get it for $3k over MSRP?
@@hauolireeves9738 ok I will try them
@@Chris-ut5ih I can’t disclose the exact price I payed however it was a great deal! Championship white and the specialty colors command full mark up price and they won’t flex. If you’re good with black I believe they may still have three in inventory. Make an offer and don’t let them know you really want the car.
Good stuff! Also I like the cup of coffee at the beginning 👌☕️
I'm in Canada and the dealership has to sell at MSRP. However, they'll jerk you around and have you wait forever, unless you got a trade-in that's desirable, then you get fast tracked. My wait for the Elantra N was 4month, but I used my 2017 Civic as a trade-in.
Dude I would love if you make a finance video, I definitely need to learn how to do it right.
I’ll do one, finances are easy, just takes a little discipline
I had purchased my 23 civic si for msrp but not with out a fight. Dealer told me if I put a deposit down of 500 that that would sell me it at msrp so I came down there and did the deposit well when my car came in they tried to tell me to buy this $4000 maintenance package since they were doing me a favor and I told them no and they said well we’re gonna have to pass up on the deal so I went and talked to the manager because they had already ran my credit I was approved and good to go I was at the point to hand in the down payment and then walk out with the keys so I talked to the gm and he honored the deal and threw in from free accessories!
I can get one now for MSRP maybe less, market has died. That said still not sure if I even want to upgrade from my 22 si. 20k upgrade and feel I'm not getting that much more for it.
Here in Switzerland there are so many FL5 available for sell that I don't think they will be all sold! Some cars are more than 6 months waiting for a owner... They are not so limited as expected...
I really want the FL5 but have future plans like wedding and then eventually a home. Would it be very financially irresponsible to purchase a CTR half a year or so after getting a home? I'm in CA so housing prices are super wack
Home first
I’m looking for a good straightforward dealer in Fort Lauderdale
Hi Elias, I paid cash for all of my cars and always got a good deal, always below sticker. But I live in Switzerland and things are mostly overpriced here as it is. My FK8 I got 5 years ago is still my daily car and love it, the FL5 costs over 15k more here than the FK8 did, so no reason to get one for me, even though it's way less aggressive looking, but I still feel like a young fellow with it 🙂
Peace! 👍💪✌
Bought a 23 CPO with 3,400 miles for $42K.
Your white Type R FK8 looks better for me
What's up Elias! I agree. California sucks in every case, including buying new cars for msrp. Can't wait to retire and move.
Classic dad, too tired to ever remove the car seat lol
Yep, it’s staying in! Those things are a pain to put in
One of the few things guys specifically wont admit is how much they paid for a car. Of course guys are not going to admit to paying above MSRP. No real strategies here.
If you watch all the way through you’ll learn more
JUST GET a 6th gen lol, no replacement for displacement
Bro.. it's so easy to find one at MSRP now lol.
all you had to do for FL5 and GRC was like wait a year for the hype to die down
So you’re telling someone to drop 50k cash for a Civic…… lmao
Lmao. Car theft everywhere
Be like all the stupid redditors and get lowballed on your trade in as long as the dealer agrees to msrp 😂. Or buy in some Hicksville and have it delivered for $1-2k and then go smog and wait at the dmv for registration.
That’s why I don’t trade anything in
@FlyinGato but according to redditors, if you trade in your car for less than kbb it offsets the cost so you can claim you bought your car for msrp! Math is their strong suit!!
Hah! No wonder they are a bunch of commies over there
@@XOX-fs4ww yes it offsets the cost they are not actually losing much that’s why they can give you at msrp or they price over msrp and give u higher trade in but you still paying too much. They are getting the upper hand not losing the customer is losing more money off lower trade value. Also it doesn’t factor in how much fees and interest they are paying so it’s not actually msrp they paid.
Thanks E. 🫡
