This was definitely Shane's plan all along. Grow the largest independent drum shop in the world so that he can buy entire booths at NAMM. One day, when I've got a reason to be in the Northeast, I'll make sure to block some time out to visit the Drum Center in person.
David Epstein make sure to. Passionate people. Spent hours there sampling 7 hi hats on their lesson kits and were friendly, helpful, and truly hoped I found my sound the whole time.
@@DavidEpstein I'm pretty disappointed they are not on the WEST COAST ! I haven't been tracking "current events" in drums for, oh, decades ? The options are overwhelming !
You guys are the ultimate duo. So deadpan, but occasionally a slight look or eye movement is comedy gold. Keep up the great work! Oh yeah, the drums are cool too.
Drum Center of Portsmouth It was haha. Just the overall presentation and dry humor and sometimes cheeky honesty. Straight to the point but also not afraid to call out the bad. Idk why of all shows lol
The NAMM show is a MAJOR drain on your body. 4 days of walking 3-4 different convention centers, plus all night concerts sponsored by all the major brands, plus running into major heavyweight endorsers everywhere and it's in L.A. !. Been there- almost killed me. ha,ha,ha Great fun though!!
The very best namm 2020 review out there.!!! Thank you DCP. Very happy you received award from gretsch.Im a very big fan of British drum co. Glad to see there hardware line up. I really love the AF hardware they came out with, and pearl solid shell snares, wow.!!! Can't wait to see you guys demo a lot of the new products you have coming your way.one more the George way billion dollar blue. That should be color of the year, simply beautiful.
Interesting story - it's the LAST Sonor Signature snare ever produced, and it is in Scandi Birch, which is pretty rare. They actually made a few kits in scandi birch.
PDP drums sound great! I think DW just needs to add their name to PDP. The PDP label is hurting them, they should call them DW drums "Pacific" series or something, like Gretsch "Catalina".
That's funny cause I heard another drummer/fan say the exact opposite, that they need to distance themselves from DW. I'm not sure where I fall in regards to that though. I feel like they do pretty awesome the way things are going for em now.. but I don't doubt that some sort of shake up could bring in even more awesomeness to the name. Cause I mean their wood hoop kits are to just die for
Yeah I think they need to either be fully brought into DW or separate themselves much more and be their totally own thing, at the moment they kinda just come off as "DW but not as good"
@@thomaskennydrums That's super true. Whenever I see a legit artist on the PDP roster or with a signature PDP model I have that exact, "not good enough for DW" thought. Though they obviously are good enough, and so are PDP drums, it does give off that stigma
If you recall when they first launched the line they were called DW workshop series.thats the name they should have stayed with. There putting out a phenomenal 7 piece kit, lacquered finish, great shells and hardware street price $1000.00.unbelievable!!! I've owned a few of those, the PDP name just does not do the drums justice, sorry just my 2cents.
At this point, you guys should hold your own drum convention buying everything. Regulating the market. Anyways dude on The right looks super bored, take me instead I'll hype this up.
That British Drum Co. McBrain kit will make a beautiful show piece. Looking forward to that video. An Iron Maiden cover perhaps? Have a good weekend :)
I’m glad you guys gave that Tama Sendan Snare some praise. I checked it out myself at NAMM and I couldn’t believe how amazing it was. Easily one of the best snares I’ve heard.
The highlight for sure was the limited Tama star mahogany. The kit in the thumbnail, just looks absolutely gorgeous and can’t wait to hear how it sounds. We all know it’s gonna sound like the best drums ever but wanna hear the difference between the star mahogany, bubinga, and walnut, which one has the deeper fatter tone with the star drum recipe with the star shells and edges.
That’s one great summary, and imo one of the best drum gear channels out there! I was keeping my fingers crossed if you’d mention our Bone Custom Drums by chance but no luck... hope to meet you next year!
Shane..... Is it true? Is NAMM really moving to DCP? If only I lived close by, I would volunteer my services to assist with all that fabulous gear coming in. I would even even put up with the cold and snow, now that's Drum Craziness! Thanks for the great rundown Shane and Barrett!
Wanted to go to the NAMM show....Sad I could not go to the NAMM show....Dont know anyone personally that went to the NAMM show....But I was wishing I knew someone that went there maybe a couple buddies that could tell me all about it and what they saw and how cool it was. Well you know what? You were my buddies that filled me in and made me feel like family! Like a real bro, telling stories of not what was happining ...but what IS happening! I appreciate it! You guys are now considered FAMILY!! Actually...better than family!!{ NOW....can I go next time?.....Bro!?!}
"I didn't understand it, to be honest................ but somebody's going to love it!" Hahah love the real talk. Also feel the same way about that rack. Not for me, but I'm glad they're doing new things.
No mention here of WTS Artistry Drums here. With the Welch Tuning System, these were certainly the most innovative drum product @ NAMM 2020! Why the miss guys? Check 'em out at www.welchtuningsystems.com.
Didn't say worse...I have to say, all those finishes look so darn nice. That graphic on the Sabians look great, but over the course of 10-20 years how well will it hold. Your whole video was ok, but 95% of the discussion was on aesthetics, very little about sound.
Excellent review . . . and yes . . . the Benny Greb Brass Snare Drum won me over . . . I am getting one! The Hendrix Zebra kit was magnificent. Outlaw drums had a killer Stave Kit . . . Masterworks cymbals knocked my socks off. The Sonor Vintage Blue was stunning to look at. True . . . it was a Buskerfest . . . Tamburo knocked everyone else out of the park here IMO. Schaegel was amazing!!
When I was coming up, the main drums you'd see were Ludwig, Slingerland and Rogers... Once in a while you might see some Gretch and maybe Camco... On very rare occasions you might see a set of Premier... Maypex and Yamaha didn't exist... DW and Tama were in their infancy and they took a while to show up around town... I got a set of Tama Superstars in 1981 and they were heavy and dead sounding. I stopped using them shortly after I got them... The amount of choices for drums today is mind-blowing... My collection looks like it belongs in a museum... Maybe I do too.
Are the guys at brithish drum booth were the same guys that used to own premier drum from the past i Do want an answer please thank’s good job👏👏👏🥁🥁🥁🇨🇦🇨🇦
Haven't heard anything on utube from Shane since namm 2020.What's going on guys? Been waiting for you to demo some products you purchased. Everything ok???
Get in that Sound Percussion camp! LOL! We got the whole booth. If someone told you you'd be saying that years ago, huh? Amazing! Ludwig roundy edges! They're trying to make me acquire again. Barrett impression! I love that Rogers is back, weird bass spurs and front head. Muffling?
The Cain and Abel is the coolest. It was done by Jessica Hancock and is amazing. WTF Shane, do you not know a beautiful design when you see it? I guess not.
Well I must say Barrett and awesome drum Center friends! I just recently discovered your channel here on UA-cam and not only do you make me laugh my ass off watching your informative videos...but I love the way you explain everything and demonstrate all the drums and cymbals and plus your truly magnificent sense of humor! @@FanaticDrummer That was a great show. We'll take that as a compliment!

Thanks for the NAMM recap. Business must be booming. I took delivery of a Simon Phillips snare last week so I’m doing my part to help!
Thank you so much, Rich!
Barrett helped me order a Gretsch Renown kit. Cool to see he is a real person.
Oh he's real alright! Enjoy that kit!
Shane...are you okay? You seem really tired...take it easy! We need you fit as a fiddle...or as snappy as a snare drum.
I reckon he was high.

Great video, love hearing you two geek out on all the new kits. Envy the fact you guys can just buy everything lol
What IS that Sonor Signature snare behind you? It's not bubinga or ebony, and I don't recall them using Scandi birch as a finish option.
Interesting story - it's the LAST Sonor Signature snare ever produced, and it is in Scandi Birch, which is pretty rare. They actually made a few kits in scandi birch.

Hey guys, no review of the Yamaha stuff? What's your take on those cool Stage Custom HIP kits and that Steve Gadd snare?
