@@spectralassassin6030Exactly. Characters like Shepherd and Geralt basically have 75% of their personalities pre-established, so the choices you DO get are just fine tuning them to your liking and pushing them in a certain direction in the story. However, you NEED plenty of options when the protagonist is a blank slate (DAO, BG3, etc). That's the key difference that Western AAA devs are beginning to forget.
at least in those games there was actually a choice, even if the dialogue itself is limited. this is just three different variations of the same choice.
The reason why is because they replaced what would have been the Aggressive choice on the dialogue wheel in previous Dragon Age titles with the Stoic choice in Veilguard. Why? I don't fuckin' know, but it means you literally can't play as an "evil" alignment character in this game because there isn't even an option for it.
Because the developers of Failguard are soyboys who can't take a single bit of criticism. Even calling them out for legitimate mistakes is taken as harassment these days.

If you're just a casual gamer and this is your first dragon age game, then you'll probably like it. But if you've played the previous games and a hardcore fan of the story and lore, especially of origins, then you'll most likely hate this game because this game is an insult to the previous games.
That's the thing, the game is deceptively well made where someone new to the series or fairly new to RPGs won't find too much wrong with it. From a technical and gameplay standpoint it's solid enough for an ARPG, however from a writing standpoint it is quite lacking compared to other games. Unfortunately good writing tends be subjective at times and isn't really something that everyone can agree upon.
and honestly i probably wouldn't have liked it then even if it was the first introduction it just looks and sounds bad and nothing that's interesting/appealing to me there's just nothing there for me
I doubt that. The game looks terrible in terms of art direction and combat. Everything about the game looks and sounds sterile. As if they Need this to appeal to todllers who watch cocomelon
Truuue. It's a solid mindless arcade game with shoehorned RPG system and some decent action sequences - perfect for people who want just to press some buttons while looking at cutscenes and scenery. For RPG enjoyers - absolute disaster of a game.
When DA2 came out, a lot of gamers were complaining about the dialog choices in that. The choices were limited, however, it had to do with the game *needing* to be fully voice acted. Without having played VG, the dialog options in DA2 seem far superior to the ones in this one, which shows a backwards progression in game development. I will also say, BG3 showed that the main character doesn't need to be fully voice acted. In RPGs, choice is always better than polish.
it's like watching, Dungeons and Dragons Honor among thieves, wich is ironic cause i absolutely loved the movie for it didn't take itself seriously and not for one second did i feel the genre has been insulted in any way with its modern quips.. But then this game absolutely does take itself seriously..
This is so funny. "Rook" sounds like that squire from Game of Thrones. Also, OG Dragon Age wasn't messing around. I love how you can basically be an evil bastard throughout that entire game and still end up a hero at the end. The writing perfectly encapsulates this. The writing in Veilguard is like a kindergarten with a crayon start dribbling all over.
Reminds me of most of David Cage's games (until Detroit: Become Human, arguably): basically just movies, but they pause every 5 minutes and you have to press a few buttons for them to resume.
Everything is nicer to look at in DA:O, that is huge red flag since it means it had a better art direction, and the fact that there is a 15 year gap between releases. We talking about 4gbs of ram vs 64gbs of ram.
Everytime when I see these characters in the new game I burst laughing. Maybe I'm old and I don't understand the new trends, but this is pure parody in my eyes🤣, the pink hair is the best monstrosity😆

It's fine if you're playing as a set character like Shepard. Not good for other characters.
100%.

When you get more animosity from the kardashians than a dragon age game you know its shit

This game looks like a struggle session more than it looks like a game.
and honestly i probably wouldn't have liked it then even if it was the first introduction it just looks and sounds bad and nothing that's interesting/appealing to me there's just nothing there for me

As soon as I heard the voices, It reminded me of attending college in my late 20s. PTSD.
It’s hard to watch.
it's like watching, Dungeons and Dragons Honor among thieves, wich is ironic cause i absolutely loved the movie for it didn't take itself seriously and not for one second did i feel the genre has been insulted in any way with its modern quips..
Why bother with choice then if the game linear as shit
Exactly, it just breaks up the dialogue and makes the delivery even more strange 😂
It's like an imitation of a role play game. There is no role play, just the appearance of it.
Reminds me of most of David Cage's games (until Detroit: Become Human, arguably): basically just movies, but they pause every 5 minutes and you have to press a few buttons for them to resume.
