The worst of it is in that Christian Bale is such a great method actor, he required the two men and the horse to actually die in order for the scene to be most believable.
The desert landscape in Exodus: Gods and Kings and the Mars landscape (with the exception of color) in The Martian are almost identical.
I don't care what people say about Christian Bale, if you want to be as good as that, you have to force yourself to believe you are in that situation. The only way to make it that realistic, is to actually believe you are there, in the moment. It's extraordinarily hard to do.
Playing make believe is not hard to do.
That saddle was the last thing keeping your horse alive you monster!

I just love how the swords are Mycenaean in design. About bloody time they showed them in film. It is however a predictable shame that not one Greek mythology movie has featured the design, that Ridley Scott had to put it in an Egyptian film.
