  • Today I review our new Set Power RV45D fridge/freezer, and the EcoFlow River Pro portable power station that we use to power it. Along with another couple items that we have picked up, this has made a fantastic difference in our adventures.

    Finally - thank you - so many videos of this Ecoflow running a blender or a hairdryer or basically anything i don't care about. I want to see how it runs a camp fridge! So thank you.

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  2 роки тому +2

      You're welcome. I share your sentiment... It runs the fridge fantastic. We also use it simultaneously to power our camp lights and the fans in our tent. Obviously the more things you run the shorter it lasts, but we have yet to flat line it overnight. The way we camp is to drive during the day and set up for the overnight in a different place every night, so it's constantly charging through the day. In this capacity, it's perfect. If you want something to run the fridge for 3, 4,5 days or more, I'd either get the additional add-on battery for this to take it up to 1500 amp hours, or buy a different power station of similar capacity. But overnight, or even a couple days, you're in business!

    I don't subscribe to a lot of channels.... but you've got a subscriber out of me after watching a couple of your videos. I like that you're just a regular guy with a regular budget having fun with camping gear you buy and use. That's the same boat I'm in, and I'm sure there are lots of us out there. Good job on the reviews and entertaining commentary! We're in Alaska and camp a lot, mostly in the summer, and I'm always adding new gear to my garage and 4Runner.

      Thank you. As much as I would love to have a higher budget for toys, and as much as I truly don't disparage those that do have that budget... I agree that most guys we pass on the trail are just average joes doing the best they can with what they have. We do it in different trucks, with different tents and different gear but we all share the live for the outdoors, and the sport of you can call it that. I love meeting new people in the trail and learning from each of them a different way, or a different perspective. I like to take a little piece of knowledge from each of them to make my experience better. So... You keep watching, I'll keep on being obnoxious me, for better or worse... But thank you my friend!

    The fridge is a gamechanger. No more greasy adult beverages from roast beef.
    Mines been running for almost 2 years non stop for work time lunches a nd drinks and camping. Solar and an agm, but the " solar generator " is worth it as well. Just too many $ when I started. That 12 volt male end I fixed with a blue sea male end. I still check sometimes but it's stayed. I ordered heavy duty slides from Lowes for 80 $ and screwed them into my platform with aluminum angle, put a 1/2 inch piece of wood between the slides and strapped the fridge under the platform. Cheap but it works. No rattles. I hit NE Georgia FSR roads quite often, soo.... Sorry for the long post.

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  2 роки тому +1

      Ya, I thought about the slides like you mention, but the whole point is to be able to have it drop down. I'm also considering a back seat delete, and mounting the fridge in the back seat area. Then we can reach it while driving, and with all my camping supplies I have two of those black and yellow top bins, so something has to move...
      I'll look into the blue sea make end for the power cable. I'm not familiar....

      An actual fridge vs a cooler or a powered cooler is such a fantastic upgrade. Not cheap, but I'm so happy we did this.

  • @tommyngu6976
    @tommyngu6976 2 роки тому +1

    At Everyman Overland, I might have missed your comments, how many hours did the cooler last on the single unit Echoflow River Pro. I just bought the combo unit + backup battery, but for some reason, it is not reading it on the main unit or showing the icon. I contacted Echoflow and they said it needs to have a firmware update. Overall,I do like the unit since it charges really fast. I had the Jackery 1000 and it took 6-8 hours to fully charge.

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  2 роки тому

      Well give it that update and see if it works. My fridge averages about 15 watts per hour, so just divide that into the total and it will last a couple days with no charging. It's also affected by how hot it is outside, what temp you keep your fridge and what's in it.
      But I hope they get your secondary battery up and running. They're not cheap, if you spend that money you should get to use it.

    • @EverymanOverland

      I've thought about it, and I'd we do any stationary camping I will likely do just that. But we drive during the day and camp at night, so I charge the ecoflow while we drive. Solar would be awesome, but wouldn't really be useful at the moment...

    Great informative video - thanks. When charging off of the alternator on DC, do you swap the fridge plug straight to you dash when driving and back to the Ecoflow when stopped? Would you use a DC splitter so you can charge the Ecoflow amd fridge at the same time? Thanks so much

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  Рік тому +2

      I have plugs at the rear of the truck, and in the rear seat that I've wired in. You can leave the fridge plugged into the ecoflow while the ecoflow is charging, but it takes longer. So if I need it to charge faster I'll plug the fridge into the truck while I drive around. If it doesn't discharge much overnight I'll leave the fridge plugged into the ecoflow. Really just a case by case basis. Come back in a week or so, I'll be releasing a video where I install a second battery in the truck, and how that compares to the ecoflow. I'll compare the advantages and disadvantages of both. I'm actually doing the install and testing this weekend.

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  2 роки тому

      Yes. I don't have the secondary battery, but you're spot on to how it works. The main battery has the electronics and the plug in ports etc, and the secondary battery just doubles the capacity of the unit.
