I have been using my Nash Profile umbrella for well over ten years now. I do clean it regularly and I use the overwrap. I made a few additional storm pole swivel brackets and I swear by it. Less than a minute.... Even while watching the lake so I don't miss any movement.... Brolly System everytime!
Different tools for different jobs: A brolly is quick and easy but not the sturdiest thing in the world, it'll keep you dry and protect you from a medium tail wind on shorter sessions but the lack of space might become annoying on a longer session and if the weather really kicks off you could find yourself undergunned. A bivvy is much more rigid and secure but takes longer to put up and needs more space, provided you can get the pegs in you'll be able to weather all but the most extreme storms and the extra interior room is nice when you're there for more than a few days and need dry space for extra clothes/food etc. Personally a brolly suits 80% of my fishing, I rarely spend more than 2 nights on the bank, I like to move around and I don't take a lot of creature comforts with me. I do, however, also own a 2 rib bivvy for sessions when I know the weather is going to be against me and I'm not likely to be on the move, I consider it to be more like my winter home. One thing that is a must on both is mozzie mesh, those little buggers can make life hell in the summer so anything you can do to keep them out while maintaining airflow is a godsend.
Bivvy all the way :D....5-10 minutes to set up is nothing if you're there for a day or days...... Problem is how strong are you to carry everything around.
Dont get a brolly the wire that holds all the arms to the boss will rust with in a couple of years and then it will collapse all because of condensation it's a shit Idea stick with a bivvy
