Omg, I was worried about this when you are wondering what fish people wants in your pond. I am glad you address/aware of this. Thanks for being responsible, Luke!
Why does everyone want Luke to release his fish? They are happy and well fed in their tanks, if they were released and if they don’t invade they would likely die in bad due to starvation, poor water conditions, being eaten and many other things within the first year. People don’t tell you to release your pet dogs into the wild do they? And if Luke released all his fish how would he make money? And who would he take care of? Even in a closed pond they can do damage to the ecosystem
I have two inlets on a 3/4 one outlet creating a shallow wetland. It is possible to prevent fry escape. I put a few hurdles in place. Ultimately I'm adding an artificial stream/intake bay pumping 25,000 gph. A separate 5000 grabbing solid deposit that will go into a very large bog for catching solids. This allows me to use gravity fed liquid fertilizer. I'm going to relocate the Koi into the bog once completed to better manage breeding, selecting and grow out. The other factor is I've been on many bodies of water and nearly all have goldfish and Koi. By no means does this make it acceptable but I'm in reality.
Thank you for being aware already USARK is at war for keeping reptiles/arachnids/aquatic animal hobbies going because people are trying to ban them at the state level. People should not give incentive to further motivate these restrictive over stepping laws.
You can make a raft with net and just put the koi their or use some nets to block the passage of fishes,or you can also breed and rare native fish for eating and let other eat it would be great if you rare native fishes, they had babies and native fishes everywhere,it will ne both fun and tasty.
Lol I'm tired of the people that release invasive animals into the local waters. Almost everytime I fish I catch a turtle or some unique invasive fish. In January I found a invasive australian crayfish the size of a lobster in my local wetlands... in the middle of the desert in Vegas. Now the local wildlife is going through everywhere connected and it leads to lake mead which connects to the Colorado River basin
So I'm from Pennsylvania and when we live in Pottstown for a few years our neighbor had a giant koi pond in his back yard. Some of them were enormous!! I helped him clean it one year and i had trouble lifting a few of the big ones. He had about 80 ish ok them. I remember one year he was away and a friend of his coming to take care of then when he went on a hunting trip like 4 hours away. My dog was hanging out by the fence we shared more then normal. ( he is a pit bull lab but was scared of the birds...and that where his bird feeder was. Yes pitbull...yea know the breed that is so horrible...so scared of the birds.. ) but he was over there for a while so i thought maybe there was an animal over there he was trying to be friends with. When i got to the fence and up onto the chair i noticed a sound i was so use to hearing was gone. The pump was off and was making no sound at all like it wasnt even there. I called him and be freaked at first and called the guy taking care of his pond and got on the road to come him. The pump completely too a shit and he couldnt get it up and running. Well i guess there is a whole ass pond group on face book because in an hour 3 people showed up with pumps. I dont think he lost any of his koi fish and he credits my wimpy ass pitbull and was so thankful for his bravery got him the biggest bone he could find and lets him go and hang out in his yard to see the fish. That he was also scard of when the splash the water.
How here's a counter idea, make an isolated pond for koi fish that way you have have a koi fish pond and without altering the one that naturally formed with its own ecosystem
I've been hoping to stumble across some. I have a few types of shiner and a few minnows in my 3/4 acre pond. I don't have rainbows yet. I do have white cloud mountain minnows which are beautiful
Would be cool if you were able to close off the water ways. Them have Koi pond. Also can clean the water to make it clear. There was a dude that made it happen. He made it into clear water.
You should definitely do a catfish mix an feed them out. We did that on our property several years ago and you used to be able to catch MASSIVE catfish out.
Because it is not isolated, I would say a strong, firm, no. They are considered an invasive pest in the U.S. waterways and are prolific breeders. They are very beautiful but need to be managed responsibly.
See, this right here is why I watch. You're responsible & plan ahead. I've gotten more into native ecology & hope you can plant or cultivate some native species of plants & fish
@@Endless.nightmare-dfi not necessarily. goldfish can withstand allot even if they are fancy goldfish they still can live in pretty harsh conditions a frozen pond is nothing to a gold fish and warm conditions is very livable for them and once they breed there’s a very good chance that there will be enough baby’s to survive to adulthood and spawn another batch of fry making thing’s even worse and humans would never know this is happening until it’s too late and and the populations are out of control and the only hope of stopping it is poisoning which will kill non invasive species.

Goldfish would breed a lot. But I do know that most Koi, not if all. Are very fragile, they can die pretty easily. Like, slightly not enough food? dead. No air/bubbles? dead. Not enough space? probably will die. My dad's over 10 year old Koi died, after their bubbler broke.. for one night. One. :(

maybe you could create an isolated area in it

bruh wdym release it cuz it needs a natural habbitat
Love the mic and beard attachment
Guys, koi are a species of carp (I believe) and carp are very good at becoming an invasive species
Ohio fish rescue have the same issue with an overflow so they have a filter to stop it. A heavy rainfall would make it impossible to contain the fish

FR these are domesticated Koi, they should not be released this shouldn't even be a question.
bc sometimes luke does not want this fish and sell it so just dump it in the wild it belongs to its natural habbitat
I was really wondering if you could maybe do a fishing video in that pond with some barbless hooks? That would be cool! 🎣

You need to get a fantail for the new tank
Definitely
You should put a barrier that connect to waterways so you can put koi in it
That’s unfortunate. Maybe you could breed local species in that pond tough, a little sport fishing pond or just a good source of protein
You can use nets for their borders
Not gonna lie when I was a teen I bought a TON of feeder goldfish and released them in the river at the part in an attempt to make a "goldfish" creek.
For the fish tank you should get rainbow shiners :)

Just got curious. How do you tell the difference between a male and female goldfish
I would suggest you make a massive mesh all around the pond and in the canals and then you can release koi/goldfish
I love the mic on the beard
The fact your mic is clipped onto your beard is hilarious
An actual koi pond on the farm would be a wonderful idea tho!
That would be funny tho, there could be a whole Koi and Goldfish army lol 🐠
And also some saltwater tanks with those dog pupper fish that can be a good collection
What if you keep native fish in the pond?
You should do trout, they work great in small creeks and you could work with the hatchery with it
what if they arentnaive

So you should block the water entering and exiting way with a net through that they could not get out
i mean yeah... but gold fish army!
But you can block of both exits by a wire mash or something

What to do??
