I would name him/her Suki! It doesn’t exactly translate to love, but it’s the Japanese word for liking something/feeling affection for, and it’s got a nice ring to it imo. Great editing in this vid by the way, it was hilarious!

I’m a Japanese translator, “Shinzo” is alright, but it is more of an anatomical term. I’d suggest “Kokoro” (final “ro” pronounced more “low” than “row”) which not only means heart ❤️ but it’s warmer, and associated with heartfelt / soulful things. You could use just “Koko” as a nickname as well! ❤

May need to add more filtration or bubbler. Water movement is kind of weak. Most Kois are swimming around with closed fins, please watch water parameters closely since the pond is still relatively new.
Yes! I noticed that and the water is merky too! They are constantly gasping for air. I hope he did a large water change and continues to do at least 10-20% changes every week or so as well as upgrading filtration and conditioning the water. They didn't look very happy in there. The pink and closed fins are huge indicators of stress 😬

How does the indoor pond effect the humidity of your basement? do you have to constantly run dehumidifiers or other methods? thanks :D
One thing that is very hard of breeding arowanas is it commonly dies and I've experienced this at the end of May 2024 and this baffled me when my dad came back from work,my dad saw this so I went downstairs and to saw that it died and he realized he accidentally leave the tank's top opened and it's all fun and games until my dad came back from work.
I quite recommend not leaving the house if you breed arowanas

Thanks for letting me know that my koi is actually a Tancho Sanke, red around the head with black markings along the body. I paid around 10 bucks for it when it was a small frie about 4 inches long, now four years later it's 18 inches long, I know not massive but it's an outside pond with not heating, I guess it's worth more now ?

For the name I suggest "Omashu" the name has a beautiful story and meaning behind it from a real life story and of course from the amazing anime "Avatar" and fun fact that the story for the name is actually very close to the one in real life. And I thing it has a nice ring to the name.

Valentine was my first thought as well - the instant you said the delivery date was Feb 14. My dog was part of a valentine's day litter. They were named, Cupid, Valentine, Bow and Arrow. We adopted Bow. And we kept that name (shortened to Bo). I think Bo would be a great name.
You gotta name it Valentine though it sounds cheesy. Its the only name that popped in my mind when u put it in the kiddie pool and then when u said it urself I was screaming in front of my computer like "that's it! You also think like me" 😁 and sometimes a bit of extra cheesyness is great too ☺
