  • The plaintiff is a single mom of three who has survived being shot and being hit by a drunk driver. She says her daughter is out of control, and she’s suing her for car damages. The defendant admits she has had problems, but she insists it’s because her mother has always been critical of her.

Unfortunately her story was not heard due to her not being able to tell her story without smacking her lips, rolling her eyes and giving attitude.. @@Hotwingzlover84 No one is saying the judgement was wrong but listening to the moms sob stories on what she went through but dismissing the daughters is not okay. Anytime she spoke on the verbal or mental abuse she endured from her mother Judge Mathis either agreed with it or blamed it on the parents love and thats how it typically is in the BLK Community. Every time the daughter spoke on the mental abuse the mother looked guilty nor did she deny it. Mothers get to paint there mistakes on their children and abuse them physically and mentally but as long as they took care of the kids then it was seen as acceptable and that needs to stop. My mother was the same way, because of her short comings she would physically and verbally abused me but because i was well taken care of nobody stepped in. Your mother treating you and talking to you like a dog off the streets takes a toll on you especially when they are all you have in life.

Yep his defense was that she had female enemies and her ex husband (the daughter father) might have did it to but the evidence was that he was the only one in the house with her, it was his gun that shot her and he claimed he heard a gun shot after they had an argument and after he walked out the bedroom. He called 911 twice. First time he hung up on em and the second was 45 mins later. She moved dude in with her kids after only dating him for a couple months so its hard for me to say the mother is trying to help the daughter who is troubled. Its more so that she is trying to clean up the mess she made in that girl's life. Many children act out because of what they see in the home and mom wasn't setting the best one

This case hit very home for me. I grew up with a very toxic father who was incredibly verbally, physically, and emotionally abusive to me from a young age. My father would call me bitches, fat, sloppy, say no man would ever want my sloppy ass, critique EVERYTHING I did right and wrong. He constantly told me how “mental” I was called me bipolar every chance he could and would say I need to get help but refused to get me this treatment I needed. I became rebellious as I grew older and had a lot of anger from how I was treated for so long. Even in my adult years I projected that anger towards others unconsciously and always blamed my upbringing for why I behaved and spoke recklessly all the time. It wasn’t until I got tired of living in constant turmoil with everyone I encountered that I made the change to stop blaming my past abuse from my father for my reckless decisions and the monster that I had become. I had to choose forgiveness. I made the decision as an adult to seek counseling and psychiatric treatment on my own so I could break that cycle of abuse towards myself, my children, and to others. I say all that to say this...yes I do believe this mother loved her daughter but she might have chose the wrong way to express that love or as in my father’s upbringing he could only give me what he was given as a child. That does not make it right and yes the black community has a way of perpetuating negative stigmas on how to raise children and negating the fact that mental health in our community is a serious issue that NO ONE wants to address. I’m not excusing the abuse she may have imposed on her child because I have personally lived it myself. However I do believe the daughter can get through this. When she’s tired of being sick and tired I hope and pray she makes the steps necessary to heal from this trauma, pain, and anger. It gonna take her doing the hard work for HERSELF. For so long I expected my father to be the one to heal me from the damage he caused me and it never happened. You can’t expect healing that way unfortunately. If this young lady ever sees this or anyone that can relate to this situation reads this please know and believe that you DO NOT have to stay a subject or victim to your past! You are NOT those negative things that were implanted in your mind that your abuser has told you that you are! YOU ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR!! ❤️❤️❤️ Do the work my loves to break that cycle, break those negative thoughts, and break yourself free from a unnecessary life sentence of HURT! I’m sorry you and anyone else were subjected to this kind of upbringing but I LOVE YOU and I BELIEVE IN YOU! ❤️❤️❤️

People don’t just opt to get a GED but because she got a degree now she’s thinks she’s better. And the daughter saying she doesn’t have a father can either mean the woman doesn’t know who he is or he left her with the child and the woman is bitter and treats the daughter like shit because of it and because she doesn’t want to be honest of her feelings she has been labeling her all her life. Daughter is broken because of the foundation the mother has laid. Parents have to take some responsibility shit words hurt and can cause more pain then being knocked upside your head. This mother is obnoxious and even with her blessings of a second chance at life...

  • @theoracle2760

Judge Mathis is incorrect. The mother can absolutely be the source of the mental issues the daughter is dealing with such as depression and conduct disorder. In fact, they teach in psychology that the mother is often the most critical piece in the mental health of a child. There have been major studies supporting this. And when the daughter spoke, she seemed to describe the type of parenting issues that can lead to some of the mental health problems the daughter is alleged to have.
Mathis went into his typical "mama can do no wrong" mode b/c of his own upbringing. We always talk about daddy issues and deadbeats but never hold the mother accountable and that's a major problem. I hate that ppl like Mathis get on these platforms and spread misinformation instead of just admitting it's not his area of expertise.

Omg her story 💛💛💛 The mom has passed on things to her daughter. The daughter speaks about verbal and emotional abuse... Now they are seeing the result of it. A lot of us are good providers but not so great parents. The mom was ill-equipped as well as having survived attacks and more. I can’t believe Judge Mathis justified and excused the mom’s behavior to deliberately hurt the daughter. I hope the daughter gets help for herself and her children. 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Your children aren’t your abusers. The daughter needed more guidance, grace, and connection. The mom noticed something, but unfortunately the lazy state wanted to put her on meds and ignore the root. I can show empathy for both of them.

I can relate to the daughter's mental illness because the only man I ever loved was diagnosed with being Bi-Polar at a young age. As an adult, when he was taking his meds life was amazing but when he stopped my life became a living hell. He always blamed me and everyone else for his problems and everyday was a mind game. Needless to say I had to walk away from the relationship after 15 yrs of being on a rollercoaster of up' s and down's, because he couldn't commit to taking his meds and seeking counselling on a regular basis. I know it's tough but it's up to the daughter to make that commitment to get the help she needs.💜

Note how she said her kids took advantage of her having poor memory due to her accidents but her memory was strong enough to remember everything her daughters done but nothing she has done to her daughter. Her daughter ADMITTED to everything she’s done. Mother kept looking at judge Mathis nervously when the daughter was speaking on her behaviors. Judgments are based on facts, not between lines and body language. Daughter took the car illegally, didn't have a license, had a hit & run, wrecked it, arrested and stated she will pay her mother. Both histories don't change the facts. However the judge acknowledges the daughter has issues, and it's up to her to accept his offer for counseling.

@@janedough6410 I agree. Unfortunately most of the people criticizing the judge for a show he does NOT produce, and because of the "feelings" between the mother and daughter, missed the point of the show. The judge's job is to issue a verdict to the facts as you state, and to keep viewers interest. The stories surrounding the issues discussed on the show is for "entertainment." If people really want to see personal issues being resolved they are watching the wrong channel.
