- The plaintiff says she and the defendant have known each other since high school. She claims she paid the defendant to put extensions in her hair but she kept canceling, so she’s suing for her money back. The defendant claims the money was a non-refundable deposit.

The defendant was unprofessional and careless of the clients time. Who knows when she decided to bleach and color those bundles, she could have done that before she came to Judge Mathis to try and make her case but you can tell she was full of it because she tried to blame the manager for changing the schedule...oh now you have a manager??? Yeah, sure. She just didn't care for impressing that particular client, for a client she wanted to impress, she would have never done that.

Its crazy how many people can't discern shyness or guarded. Quiet, shy people are always seen as being stuck up or " thinking " they are better. All along she felt she wasn't good enough to hang with them. Perception is everything and often a warped sense of the true reality.
People used to think I was stuck up in high school, but I stayed to myself because I was traumatized from an abusive childhood, and I didn't really feel like I could relate to anyone.

First, the defendant's hair is DOPE like something out of a comicbook. And they both were pretty.
Second, I don't agree with judge Mathis assessment of the things she should have to in highschool to be more social. He may fail to understand a person having crippling social anxiety and not receiving any support for it growing up as I did. It was impossible for me to have the self confidence to even try those things as a severe introvert whose home life didn't build me up in that way. So it's not as simple as he thinks as an outgoing aggressive person by nature. It annoys me when someone only sees things from their own perspective and does the whole "it's easy!" Thing.
I think judge Mathis was only playing around with them while trying to understand the story. I don't think he meant any harm.

Imma say this. Depression is never "little" when you are the one going through it. I go through it. My mom says get over it. My doc gave me meds which have mad me angry. Very angry to the point of wanting to hurt others. I told my mom and she laughed it off. And yes I'm on different meds now.

As a cosmetologist with years of experience I disagree with the whole deposit thing. Do the hair pay me for the service. These stylists now a days want guaranteed money but if you don’t render service why should the client pay all of you are not that caliber of stylist clearly shown by the unprofessionalism
The deposit is usually to ensure that the customer be keeps their appointment. You cannot get back time and the hairdresser understands that a lost appointment means lost income. Some people are flaky.
The deposit is to ensure people show up and will pay. I had a girl not pay me when I finished box braiding her hair. 8 hours of work and she said she only had $40 and would pay me the rest later. It took me 2 weeks to get the remaining balance. When you not at a shop people think they can play games and not pay you.
I don’t have an issue with the deposit. I have an issue when the deposit doesn’t go towards the services rendered.
Same thing happened to me. Sent a non refundable deposit for 8am on a Saturday guarantee spot. An hour before my appointment got a new time for 9 than 10,11,12, by that time I was over it told her I couldn’t make it. She told me no refund sense I was the one canceling. Didn’t know I could sue for that. Glad I watch this because now I know for next time.

I’m a hairdresser of 35 years , I really appreciate the outcome . Sometimes you have to lose to win . I believe the hairdresser in this episode will acquire more clients because of her apology and the fact the young lady still complimented her skills . If it was my salon I would do that young lady’s hair for free just for the advertisement . I’m very impressed .
