The guy with the knife was there to protect rhaenyra
Do you think Helaena forgives Alicent for Cole? Or for something that had happened before that, such as Alicent misunderstanding Viserys at the end and bringing all this about? Heleana speaks in riddles and prophecy and no one is listening to her.
I think Helaena knows that Alicent has been trying to confess her sins. Alicent kept telling Otto how guilty she felt, how the gods must be punishing her, and she finally musters up the confession and Otto shuts her down.
Helaena is giving her the forgiveness she’s been so desperate for.
I think it’s for Cole because at the time of helaena’s apology alicent still had in her mind that viserys truly changed his mind
She probably was forgiving her for being such a terrible mother.
Helaena is so vague that I’m convinced she is referring to a future that she has seen, and seeing the end game, she is giving Alicent the absolution she pines for.
@@bluegypsy71 I like that too
The knife guy was probably one of her Queensguard. She took an incredible risk but had a lone escort come with her.
You are correct, he is Ser Steffon Darklyn, the Lord Commander of her Queensguard.
@@reeseduncan8728I'm pretty sure that was lorent marbrand
@@harshahir3176Lorent Marbrand was the bald guy who tried to intervene during the Cargyll twin fight. You can hear Rhaenyra tell Elinda Massey to go find Ser Lorant.
@@reeseduncan8728 yeah I'm pretty sure that's who joins her
@@harshahir3176 The guy who accompanies Rhaenyra to King’s Landing had hair.
I think the fact that he sees young Rhaenyra in his dream is really significant. He preyed on and corrupted her at a very young age. He damaged her relationship with her father and put her in a position where she was forced to marry Ser Laenor. I love that we are getting some moral introspection on one of the most morally objectionable characters in the show.
"he reminds me of sam! he's like an old sam!" my thoughts exactly.
also too, take note that bit of assault @41:55 was committed upon former palace maid dyanna, who was dismissed from service by alicent last season after reporting that aegon had jumped her.
Harrenhal is so big, that it only gets fully occupied when entire armies garrison it during wartime. Like during Arya`s stay in there during the show. Most times, 2/3 of the Castle is empty. It`s to big to mantain, and has no great amenities and functionalities, so absolutely no income and a pit of debt.
Rhaenyra in full Septa garb was iconic. A huge part of me also wanted her to have to chant "Shame!" at someone to keep up appearances lol
Steejo really flexing his knowledge in this reaction 💪
this episode beautifully illustrates the dichotomy between alicent and rhaenyra.
it shows us how Alicent has always been a pawn and powerless to the machinations of the men around her and she lies to herself that she's doing it under the guise of "Duty and sacrifice"... where as Rhaenyra has always rebelled and resisted and pushed back against those same machinations.
that's the difference between them... and it's part of why alicent is resentful and jealous of rhaenyra - Rhaenyra is what Alicent wishes she could be.
Did you forget that Alicent was literally riding Cole when Helaena came in her room carrying her daughter the night her son was killed.😊
Is she not allowed to have her fun? It's not down to her to watch her grown-up kid. -Suz
@@SuzySteejoyes she can fun but she made a big problem when Rhaenyra done the exact same thing criston Cole is supposed to be completely celebit so she is allowing the kings guard and hand of the king break his vow to have “fun” thanks
Also as a Scot (Glaswegian) kinda gutted I never noticed you where Scottish hahahahahahah
@@JackDee5 she's a widow, people! get a grip. There's no comparison here with Rhaenyra. Alicent didn't have bastards. Shes free to sleep with whomever she wants.
@@jessi17miel she's free to sleep whomever she wants except the kings guard they're bound to chastity.
You two are spot on about the situation being out of alicent’s hands now that the men have all gone off to work. In the post episode interview the show runner said, “It’s not that Alicent is unwilling to hear Rhaenyra, it’s that she has no power, there’s nothing she can do anymore to stop what’s coming.”
i like the contrast of Aegon calling the bracken vs blackwood battle as "war" and "dragonstone will think the same" whereas Rhaenyra avoids it because dragons fighting dragons will create such a destruction and goes "the greens will decide the same" then both of them adding Master of Whisperers to their court, Aegon with Larys and Rhaenyra with Mysaria. I always felt there needed to be more parallels between the two, since the war is truly a fight between them two and no one else. So i liked those touches a lot.
ALso It's so weird to notice that everyone Daemon just met at Harrenhal are ALSO related to Rhaenyra's children, Jace, Luke and Joffery; it also kinda adds to the family feud, since you have Jace, Luke and Joffery and now House Strong on Team Black but Larys Strong is Team Green. Then it made me laugh how Corlys was wary about Joffery and Rhaena not knowing anything about ships to rule driftmark but Luke didn't know anything either lol Corlys definitely had a favorite grandson. Gotta love too the fact that Rhaena is being sent with the young princes and dragons, "the hope of the future"
44:00 Aegon is actually around 20 years old.
Everybody is always like r u team black or team green, which is fine. But a more important question is r u team blackwood or team bracken.
Usually it's the same thing.
28:40 You got it right guys! It is confirmed by the creators of the show!
My theory is that Mysaria says that Seasmoke is maybe lonely because she knows Laenor is not actually dead.
I doubt she knows that.
When I heard Rhaenyra ask Alicent what her father said on his death bed I was like "Finally. The right question!"
Viserys stood up for his daughter with his dying breath. ✌️
Viserys was dumb and basically led to the destruction of Targeryens
love u guys, u srsly have the best reactions, and very often see stuff other channels miss!
also ur not team green lmao
Hey guys, in relation to what time it comes out in the uk, i have now tv and its on sky atlantic hd at 2am, but they drop the episode for replay asoon as the episode ends, so i think last nights episode was longer than an hour, so the episode would of been uploaded about 3.10-3.20 am uk time. And steejo said it doesnt come out at the same time as america, but as far as im aware it is, as it comes out 9pm eastern time - so add 5 hours for gmt and thats 2am. Not sure if im missing something though.
Also because its live, there are adverts though
Doesn’t matter if Alicent knows, it’s too late. Unlike Rheanyra she knows she has no control over the situation. Rheanerya is as feckless as her father at leadership.
Also Rheanerya now has resolve. She now knows for certain that her father did not throw her over. I think she can go to battle now with a clear conscience and feeling she is right. I think there was always a doubt in her mind about this whole mix up. Now, that doubt is gone.
“Or whatever…its 2024”
*steejo takes a second to process it*
*Christsss sake face* 😂😂😂
😂I use the same sound on my phone alarm
Great reactions! always a joy watching you two!
Thank you so much 😁
you are right about that alicent cant do anything, i dont even know what the whole point of that was even if rhaenyra could convince her the war is already started and aegon and criston now rule anyways. in the best case rhaenyra could talk to her and then go home with nothing happening, in the worst case she would get cought and killed
Any case would be Rhaenyra caught and arrested. That ending scene was beyond stupid
Ye it was weird.. when thinking about this episode i just want to think about the first scene and the dragon chase scene because those were bangers, the others were meh lol@@LordTywinLannistertheBased

Im sorry do people expect alicent to go to Aegon and tell him it was just an accident and he would just step down? ....c'mon he just lost his son😂
35:37 it was confirmed by the show director that 3 of them were actually Daenerys' eggs!
Even though in the book daenerys' eggs were from Dreamfyre (Helena's dragons) that was taken far before the dance of the dragons.
Baela couldn't torch the forest because they wouldn't be able to control the fire back in that time period. So it's a step they wouldn't take unless having to, I reckon, since it would pose such a threat to surrounding areas as well.
The nuns are called septas! Septa Unella is the one who took Cersei Lannister on her walk of atonement.
41:57 I just realized that girl is Dayana! the girl that Aegon r@ped in season one!!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
it was confirmed by the director of the episode that those were dany's eggs :)
I have taken to referencing Cole as Chadley when I have conversations about the show, and I don't even remember how or when it was that you started calling him that
I think Haelena was forgiving Alicent for "distracting" Chadley from his duty the night her child was beheaded.
Alicent heard what she wanted to hear the night Viserys died. She wanted the position and just heard the name aegon, and immediately thinks that Viserys wants her son to be the successor. All Viserys' life he always said that Rhaenyra is his heir to the throne and defended her every time. Even the morning/hours before he died, he didnt want to take the milk of the poppy so he could have a clear mind, walk to the throne felt and go through all that pain just to defend luke as the heir to driftmark to further affirm Rhaeinyra's inheritance and then Alicent The Hypocrite thinks Viserys suddenly changes his mind the same night. Alicent thinks her son aegon the rapist is The Prince that was Promised?? Dafuq!
This episode was full of Green Kingsguards being very incompetent. Sitting on the steps during duty, joking about breaking their oaths, actually breaking them... I wonder if that will come into play down the line. Criston Cole's choices seem to be greatly lacking.
i wish they explained Aegon's claim properly in the show. It was not just due to a misunderstanding, the greens were already plotting since Aegon's birth.
Both Rhaenyra and Aegon have claims - Rhaenyra because Viserys named her heir, Aegon because of Westeros laws and traditions that eldest son should be the king. This is why King Jaehaerys called a great council instead of just naming Rhaenys his heir.
This war is not due to a misunderstanding. Alicent doesn't hold any power over the council even if she wished to correct her mistake.
True
Chateau renovation channel dude is awesome.
Funny how rhynese didn't mention her killing like 1000 people in episode 9 as a start to the war in the beginning. She could have averted a war if she burned them right there. A few people die. No war. Thats why i cant stand her shes always talking about averting war and savi g pewhen she has the biggest death count of all of them. Her talking about the councilwho want war they havnt done anything yet she has. Sry rant over
Alicent sent the letter in-between seasons, everyone already knows about it.
I took the aliicent and halena i forgive you scene as she meant about chadly but you pointed out it might mean for something else, hmmm
No spoilers, please. I'm beginning to wonder if Daemon is working for Rhae-Rhae or for himself.
BTW when Aegon sits down at the bar, do you recognize the serving girl? Aegon doesn't!
52:00 actually yes, actress Gayle Rankin is Scottish, from the central lowlands - how did you know?
We are Scottish too.
@@SuzySteejo I mean what about her did you recognize as Scottish?
@@thedragondemands5186I’m also Scottish and it’s the accent 😂
Did you notice that when the council suggested to Rhaenyra they should unleash the dragons on Cole, she hesitated for a moment and the camera cut to Jace, twice? Are they just messing with us or since we don't know if Rhaenyra drank that tea, Jace could actually be Cole's. Think of the drama when Cole finds out by Rhaenyra herself that he is the father of her first born and him realising he fought against his own son all along, against the heir to the Iron Throne!!!!
No I think that's just jace being unhappy with rhaenyra's ep that was sprinkled throughout the ep starting with burial then during the times when rhaenyra wnated to avoid war
i like how the Bracken was like: your false Queen Rhaenyra is a kin-slayer"
but...no one cares that Aemond murdered Lucerys??????? which was ALSO Kin-Slaying first????????? uhh.....ok. yeah, sure, fine. Team Green I guess.
They're a few sandwiches short of a picnic. - Steejo
The bracken and the blackwood has already fought before, the young boy, killed the older lad when rhayerana was on her tour of westeros
And you said it as soon as I finished writing
...
I now also call him chaddly 😅my partner just don't get it haa but at this point that's his name haaa
Here from the Demon Slayer reaction 😊
People call Alicent stupid for not putting it together, but seriously, how tf was she to know? The true stupidity was having such a significant prophecy kept secret. Why is this info only shared with the heir. It's beyond stupid, and look at what the needless secrecy led to....
Agreed. At a minimum, all of the children of the king or queen should know the prophesy.
Well given that George asked them to include it that way, it'll make sense once we find out why it had to be a secret.
But Alicent is dumb, not because she didn't figure out what Viserys was saying, but became she heard him being incoherent and rambling and when he said Aegon, she ignored everything else and just jumped to the conclusion that him saying the name Aegon automatically meant her son should be king.
Which just shows she only believes what she wants to believe, even against basic common sense.
@ARareBreedStory I disagree on Alicent, but you do you. As far as the prophecy goes...idk if there will be an explanation, I feel like this is just a plot hole on GRRM's part.
@@ARareBreedStory ffs Otto had planned to put Aegon on the throne regardless of what Alicent thought. Hearing her husband say aegons name before he died only made HER accept that. otherwise she would not have supported it. Any normal person in her situation would have believed the same.
Agree, the only stupid person here is Viserys.
Rhaenyra sneaking in is really bad writing-wise. Too dangerous, too late and Alicent could have had her captured and it would have stopped the war.
It was just like when they went north of the wall to catch a wight. lol
Why is it that whenever a character has a choice that isn't the "optimal" one that people shout "bad writing". Y'all would try to "win" d&d and it shows 😅 - Steejo
@@SuzySteejo Optimal? It's too late to stop the war, too dangerous and risky to go to KL and Alicent could have arrested her to stop the war. Threat of war with dragons is more urgent than 'friendship'. It's not about optimal, it's nonsensical writing- akin to Game of Thrones season 8 writing.
She's literally trying what she believes as a last ditch, desperate attempt to stop the massacre of thousands of people. It's incredibly admirable that she'd try something so dangerous to avoid the death and destruction that is to come. I'm assuming you also disagreed with Dany's "sudden personality change" in GoT. - Steejo
@@SuzySteejo Eddie, Rhaenyra showing up to Alicent is terrible writing because Alicent would be obliged to arrest Rhaenyra to stop the war, as in using Rhae as a hostage to force the Blacks into surrendering. Millions of lives are worth more than her 'friendship'-political imperative.
Alicent can't force Aegon or Aemond to do anything, especially after the death of Aegon's son. It's easy to understand - even Rhaenys said 'hotter blood has prevailed'...
Also if Rhaenyra was such a saint that she would overlook her stolen inheritance, the miscarriage that they caused, her son eaten alive and assassin's sent into her very bedroom - she's saintly enough to step down, renounce her claim, accept Aegon as king for peace and go to exile- can't have your cake and eat it. And frankly her character has been one dimensional this season because of this goodie two shoes persona.
This show is starting to lose me with the ridiculous nature of some scenes. Rhaenyra successfully infiltrating King's Landing, delivering herself to her enemy, only to be let go after having a little chat out in the open, could've been the moment the show jumped the shark for me. That entire plan was so dumb it reminds me of s7 and s8.
