Excellent series. Not unlike the Francis Durbridge thrillers recently uploaded Well crafted and tightly written, with plenty of twists and turns, and an ensemble cast of British acting to die for. Please keep them coming.
I enjoyed this, and watched to the end -- I thought there might be a different killer. It was curiously old-fashioned -- the sound and look of it was more reminiscent of very low-budget (but often fine) series from the 70s and earlier. Bear in mind, by this time Miss Marple had been on for three years, it was released the same year as the first Morse, and Poirot came only 2 years later -- all with far superior production values. It had all the elements of a series that might have wanted to be renewed, but I think it missed its timing. Fabulous cast, reasonably well written, interesting enough -- but opening narratives telling things that were never shown, things like Millie's much talked-about party not being shown -- all point to a very low budget. Yet they left storylines open -- the rivalry between Field and Maitland, the marriages of Field and Thorne, the relationship between Dan and Kate, the relationship between Makepeace and his secretary among others. They all hinted at more to come. But this series died on the vine. It could stand a remake, with higher gloss -- and much better sound. Siân Phillips never looked better.
I really enjoyed seeing this, but yeah, I was kinda bummed at the ending as well. I really thought there would be one more reveal and he wouldn't have done it after all. 😉 Such fun seeing Joss Ackland in this! He's always a treat. 🤩

Too bad the mustachioed cop proves to be a ruthless killer with his eye to the bacon. I got nothing! says it all. Excellent series.
