the fact that this really happened to that spanish family is incredible. They were all alive. I watched an interview with the mother and the way she explains everything is terrifying. She said at one point she wished her sons were dead so they wouldnt have to go through all of that.
This movie was amazing, but it definitely had me traumatized after watching it. I can't imagine ever going through such a terrifying natural disaster like that, the family that the movie is based off of are truly inspirational!
That’s Thailand, a place slightly shielded from the full power of the waves by Sumatra Island, imagine those living in Sumatra, getting the full burnt of the tsunami.
I'm so glad you reacted to this film, I was hoping you would. The moment Lucas and his brothers find each other never fails to make me cry. Incredible acting from all of them.
This scene always makes me cry…
Always
Saw this movie when it first aired, what a traumatic story. We stayed in Khao Lak where it happened a few years after the tsunami, there was still a police boat that got washed half a mile inland that they kept there as a memorial ❤
This is the movie that made me a Tom Holland fan. The reunion with the brothers 🥹
Same here! I knew he had a great career ahead of him based on this film, and I was ecstatic when he was cast as Spiderman.
It's just so sad that this actually happened and so many people died, but it's so amazing that "the impossible" happened and this story actually happened and they all found each other and stayed alive. And it's such an amazing movie because there was absolutely no need for over-dramatization because it was already so dramatic itself. The woman the mother was based on said seeing it all happen on screen was almost exactly like being there because they got it all so, absolutely correct. I believe the family was on hand to make sure it was all very accurate as well. I don't know if you caught it but they showed a picture of the real family in the credits.
This was the first movie I saw after becoming a mother and the scene where she was desperately trying to reach her son in the water traumatized me. It was tactile. I could feel it as if it were happening. Before I had given birth that scene though intense would not have traumatized me. It’s amazing how movies with kids affect you so differently once you become a parent.
This is one of those things you hear on tv news but never can imagine the horrors. Incredible movie and story.
Thank you for reacting to this. I shared every tear with you. A shout out to the Thai people who were so kind to everyone. They did not wait around for the government to come. They acted until and after they came
I can only imagine the desperation of the people hit by a tsunami. So many lives lost in an instant. Great reactions.
So pleased you watched this. Naomi Watts is an underrated actor. She did a film with Edward Norton called The Painted Veil which I think you'd like.
a couple years back my brother was one of the officers volunteering in securing the area due to the flood in the Arkansas river here by the riverside in Oklahoma. he luckily had a rope when the concrete under his feet gave out and the strong current almost dragged him along with the trees and house debris. he's fine and seeing this although not on the same level as an actual tsunami got me wishing that no one ever goes through that ever
So glad to hear your brother is fine. Truly these disasters are quite overwhelming
Tom Holland, who played Lucas is Spiderman in the Marvel movies now.
This movie was a fantastic memorial for those that lost their lives and suffered injury in this terrible event. Showed everyone the horror and human cost.
RIP to all those who died.
I've only ever managed to watch this once, it's just so raw and emotional, I don't think I could handle watching it all the way through again. It just rips apart your soul, knowing that people go through these natural disasters.
But it was masterfully done and everyone did such an amazing job. Always love seeing ewan mcgregor and Tom & Naomi were so brilliant in this as well.
Thank you for this reaction, I didn't expect it for this movie but I'm glad you did! (Went through alot of tissues, oof)
Glad you reacted to this. I have heard so many interviews from Maria Belen, the actual survivor. If you speak spanish, the original radio show from where the movie was based is simply beyond words.
Did you get to see the photo that appears at the end, when they show the real Spanish family that lived through this tragedy and miracle that they all survived??
This one breaks my heart because I’ve got three kids with similar age gaps. It would be so hard to be the dad and making the choice to leave the littles and look for his other son and wife…but then I think if it were me, and I thought my oldest son was out there hurt and alone…ughhh I can hardly stand to think about it!
Also when I saw you tearing up within the first few minutes I was like oh noooo she’s got a lot of tears ahead of her 😂 This one gets me every single time too!
Loved you reaction! I was very impressed by all actors in this film especially Tom Holland when I saw this movie knew I was gonna be a fan of his I absolutely love him he’s such a big inspiration to me 💗
There was a little girl who was there on holiday i believe she was ten years old. Just in the week leading up to her holiday she had learned aboyt tsunamis at school and thanks to her quick actions she saved over 100 people. Truly incredible.
Many tourists stayed to help including one woman who lost her family who started a school and orphanage for the children.
Lucas actually found 73 people, some they still keep in touch with as well as Karl (the man who lent his phone), sadly his wife and daughter didn't make it. Lucas is now a doctor in France.
I have been in a tsunami. Sometimes you dont get a choice. They take kids to the mountains and adults to look for family.
kk
He had to separate...in a tsunami you go to the mountains. Everyone. He was brave to separate.
ok
Great movie. Unfortunately the French guy that travelled with him lost his family, no happy ending for him
so sad
No one knows how we would react in the face of a natural disaster. Of course, this film focuses on one family's real experience. Over 500,000 people lost their lives in Thailand, Indonesia, the Andaman Islands and other places in the region.
I get the concern about infection because of how someone is moved, but in a tropical climate (especially in severe circumstances like this) just waiting for an 'ideal' way to move someone is definitely a way to court even worse infection and sepsis.
In the last couple of years many hospitals and health professionals here in Canada have faced many challenges in terms of dealing with COVID.
Now, imagine just a few hospitals in Thailand dealing with, over just a few days, thousands of serious injuries and deaths, not to mention a similar number of displaced and separated families. I get the concern about antibiotics but even potable water can be a challenge. This is triage.
I think this film did an excellent job of showing just what it is like in these extreme circumstances.
Here is an interview with Maria Belon, (whose story, along with her family's, this film was based on) talking about her experiences at the time of the tsunami as well as during the making of this film:

OMG I love this movie! I love little Tom Holland and my country (love form Thailand)
Also I understand what Thai people say without subtitles. when I watch it first time I cried so hard because I heard a doctor say, 'She who die during the operation right?' and then I thought his mum was going to die.
And the truth is this tsunami actually happened in Thailand. and the first time it happened Thai people at that time did not know how to handle it. because it had never happened before. My aunt was there when it happened. At that time I was too young to understand. I only know she went there and never came back. And that made Thailand lose one of the royal family as well.
This movie is incredible. We studied this tsunami in geography class and our teacher showed us this movie. Really captures the horror
Perfect reaction !
“Dragonfly” is a wonderful movie with Kevin Costner and a supernatural twist. So very good 😊❤
Lucas is Spiderman. Tom Holland.
I love this movie! And Lucas is Tom Holland he's a big actor now
I love your reactions Kemi!!!!
❤️❤️❤️
What a beautiful dream you have ❤
KSO…you know the procedure 😭
Great reaction! its an amazing movie about an amazing story, The director of this movie also directed Society of The Snow, another must watch movie about a real event.
oh, this is good. i watched it recently, not knowing anything about it. i love ewan mcgregor and naomi watts, so i figured it would be good. one of my favorite ewan mcgregor movies is Moulin Rouge, which co-stars Nicole Kidman. ❤
now that i've watched the reaction, i just wanted to say that, YES, you will achieve your dream. it will happen, just know that! blessings to you!🤗
Did you realise that Lucas is Tom holland or Spider-Man from the MCU
She hasn’t even watch the 1st Avengers film so she hasn’t seen Tom in the MCU…
And even more important, from the stage show "Billy Elliott"!
Just watched your reaction to this film. An amazing story of survival, but also such a devastating event💔 The real Lucas was 10 and located 73 people! He’s 26 now, and a doctor practicing in France.
Amazing movie! And the fact that it was true.
Oh my gods yes!!! I was thinking about recommending it but I wasn't sure if other people enjoyed it enough. I wonder if you'd have it in you to watch No Escape. With Owen Wilson. Probably his most serious role ever.
I agree! That movie is amazing
This is a great movie!! My mom and I have seen it!
Another great Ewan McGregor movie you should check out is Christopher Robin. Amazing movie! 🇺🇸❤️🙏 Love your channel! My mom and I tune in every week from Southern California USA 🇺🇸
Another great survival movie is Life Of Pi.
You will achieve your noble vision, Kemi. I believe in you. 🌠
I guess I'd have to be in that situation to be sure but thinking about it right now, if someone asks me to take care of their children you would have to rip them away from my cold, dead arms. I understand it's a difficult situation and it's made even harder if you're dragging kids with you, but I cannot stand the thought of just... leaving them 😭
One of the worst disasters, how many people died😔
Too many
230,000 people died
Thank you for reacting to this
God bless you Kemi! I enjoyed this reaction, and remember how it was so emotional. I can say I’ve had my fair shares of hospital scares that had me feeling so frightful. Also, I love the dream you have, and I hope it comes true. If you enjoyed this film, I highly recommend these two other amazing films inspired by true stories as well. Soul Surfer, which is about the surfer Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm to a shark attack, and Walk. Ride. Rodeo., which is about the rodeo barrel racer Amberley Snyder who became paralyzed from the waist down after a car crash. 💗😉
Plsss can you watch dead poets society it is so good. The impossible is an incredible story as well. Loving the content as always.💙
eu amo esse filme, e fiquei realmente feliz quando vi que você tinha postado react dele. vídeo incrível como sempre 😊
The current President of Finland survived that tsunami.
When you look into very traumatic incidents or movies based off of them, it makes you very thankful for how good your life is in comparison. I’m not saying we can’t complain about our situation too; it’s just that we’re lucky to not have gone through something like this.
I love your movie reactions !!!!!
Good movie it's based on the tsunami the happened in December ? I can't remember the year it was so sad
I saw your name and the movie and said, "She is going to fall apart."
every time we think we've got nature under control, she finds a way to show us who's the Boss.
OMG I got traumatized by this movie for so much time
Wow a great movie Bravo for reacting to it. you should also see Lorenzo Oil and Awaknings both movies based on a true story and both are amazin
💫
Did you realize that was a young Tom Holland who plays Spider-Man. Obviously he was younger back then. And this real life event happened in 2006, and cellphones had barely been invented.
Ea una pelicula increible, grandes actuaciones, saludos desde Chile
I think the lovely bones would be another heartbreaking but beautiful movie to react to ❤️
I love your Channel ❤️🙂
Hi! Can you please look into watching Stepmom,
Gardens of the Night,
Simon Birch, and
Mr Holland's Opus
React to IN CAN HAPPEN TO YOU with Nicolas Cage and Bridgette Fonda
Hi, I'm a new subscriber to your channel (which I love💖) and I wanted to recommend a series of animated movies:
the saga of "How to Train your dragon"
(It is one of my favorite sagas of animated movies and I think it is one of the few sagas that have a good evolution of the story)
PS: sorry for my english, it's not my first language
Pd2: greetings from Argentina🇦🇷
Please react the 'Hacksaw Ridge', by Mel Gibson.. It's a true war story, of the first conscientious objector in battle 🥲 ❤ u will cry a lot, I know, but you will love it so, so, much.. 💛
