I saw this in theaters with my family when it first came out and went into it with no idea what it was about. The whole theater lit up with laughter the entire time. It was great.

underrated movie indeed
I have the DVD of this, and there's a couple of interesting deleted scenes in this. One shows kind of a continuation where all the Lucys are chasing after Owen (Cuba Gooding Jr.) after he wrecked their trip. While being chased, another bus comes up in front of them which happens to be full of men dressed like Ricky Ricardo from "I Love Lucy". With the Lucys distracted by this, it allows Owen to sneak away unnoticed.
I saw this in theaters, then rented it 3 times from Blockbuster, & now have it on DVD 📀💖

Cuba Gooding Jr. Is an unexpected standout in this one, his increasingly frantic line delivery has me laughing every rewatch.
That one guy with the hat is Seth Green. He's known for doing "Robot Chicken", and he does the voice of Chris Griffin on "Family Guy". As for Cuba Gooding Jr., the film he's best known for is "Jerry Maguire", where he won an Oscar for best supporting actor. The actor playing the attorney is Dave Thomas, who happens to be Canadian. He was originally known for being on the sketch show "SCTV". His best known character from that was as one of the McKenzie brothers. He played Doug, while Rick Moranis played Bob.
He is also a voice actor in the game mass effect as joker
I think Boyz N Da Hood was a bigger film for Cuba.

It's a great movie until the ending. I found it irritating. They risked their lives multiple times over just to hand the money over? I wouldn't have done that. If Smashmouth truly cared about the plight, they'd have given the cause 2 million dollars

1963: "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" is a similar film about a group of strangers thrown by chance into a race for money. This one is considered the 'original' all-star-cast, mad-cap money-race film. I don't know if there is an older one, but this is the most famous for sure.
1979: "Scavenger Hunt" is a film about a group of strangers going to ludicrous ends to win a bunch of money. Big group of all-stars from the era, including a cameo by Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's pretty zany, but not as good as "Mad..." or "Rat Race," IMHO.
1987: "Million Dollar Mystery" is a film about strangers going after money. I haven't seen this one.
2001: "Rat Race" is a film about strangers racing after money. I love this one. Rowan Atkinson (Mr.Bean) and John Cleese (Monty Python) are idols of British comedy. Whoopi, Seth Green, just everybody. Zany, madcap, ridiculous. It was so fun watching this again with you and your contagious laughter.

At a company I was working for as a consultant, I was talking to one of the accounting admins, and she mentioned they were having a staff movie night, and they were trying to find a comedy none of them had seen, so I lent them my DVD of "Rat Race" (I wasnt able to make it that night even though they invited me). When I came in the morning afterward, the accounting manager said that the film raised the bar for comedies. They all had a blast watching it.

I was raised on British humor because my dad is from England so I just loved seeing Ron Atkinson in this. He is hilarious and brilliant in anything he’s in, and then on top of that we get John Cleese, who is an absolute legendary British comedian. Btw, The guy playing the father is John Leguizamo

Kemi that was a great reaction to another one of my favorite films. One thing I would recommend as a reaction is to find the gag reel of Rat Race. There is one blooper in particular which is the scene where they are trying to convince the brother with the self inflicted tongue problem to put the money in the bag. I PROMISE that you will CRACK UP when you see it.
Also, Cuba Gooding Jr put in a magnificent performance in a film called Men of Honor with Robert DeNiro. Cuba played the part of Carl Brashear, the first black diver that the Navy ever had. Well worth the watch, in my opinion.
I think I've seen that bit. Director Jerry Zucker said he asked the cameraman how much film was left, and he said only a few minutes. He had him keep it rolling for those few minutes. Seth Green (the one with the hat) even says while the camera is rolling "Just put it on the DVD."
