-The vette, driver had far less experience on the ring than the bimmer pilot.
-The vette, was running point, meaning he was "clearing" the lane and setting lines. Whereas the bimmer driver was following at "pace" behind a "known car" and on a "clear" track. Therefore, he was actually able to "drive the track" in a much cleaner manner.
-The bimmer driver had more experience and more confidence. Period.
-The vette seemed fairly stock, suspension wise, but possibly had upgraded brakes.
-The bimmer was set up fantastically, driven well, and the driver has much more knowledge, and experience on the ring. That gave him more control and confidence. And it really showed.
-The vette driver did well overall. However, hiss overtaking was none too smooth, and some of the other vehicles could take umbrage to the manner passes were taken. I think that he is skilled, but knew he was playing lead/chase with an experienced driver piloting a track weapon. He didn't get nervous when his mirrors were filled, even when the bimmer driver was obviously pressuring hard, and being a bit of a dick. He only had skill set, on a tack that requires skill AND knowledge.
With 50 laps under his belt it would be fun to see this again.
That was fun to watch.

z06 driver definitely seems to be lacking some familiarity and maybe some skill in this contest. m3 driver definitely knows the ring and is way deeper on the brakes in most braking zones

Asif Lohar the comment isn’t stupid. Don’t be such a dick. He’s hearing an abnormal sound from a modified differential or transmission. It’s creating a distinct whine like a set of straight cut gears in a racing transmission.
If you’ve never heard the sound of a Ju87 Stuka Dive Bomber Siren then you might be forgiven. Look it up.

Awesome video, the BMW driver was definitely more confident in the braking department. The Z seemed to have him on the straights though. Props to the BMW driver, that was great driving!
It's very difficult to keep the front place. Your only source of limit knowledge is yourself. When you're behind someone, your main source is the driver ahead. What he does good, you do. If he fails, you don't repeat his movement. So it's natural to be less confident in the front.

I dont know why people are hating on the Vette. The driver has to negotiate traffic first, BMW follows, both good drivers. The Vette obviously walks the BMW on the straights, but both cars seem to be set up nicely.

The Vette driver wasn't nearly as confident around the track as the BIMMER guy.
I don't blame the guy.
Confidence at the ring has to be earned or you will hurt yourself or more importantly others, some of the over takes were to aggressive - he was lucky not to collect a few cars and bikes on the way. I would have had a word back in the car park if some one drove like that around me. Its a road with road rules, different types of vehicles and driver abilities.
With no traffic it would go away. Many time it allready start to make a cab.

I daily and track an e92 m3 competition package dct and watching this video, hearing when hes upshifting and downshifting, everything seems spot on except theres many corners I feel the m3 can be carrying more speed in the turn in and that hes stopping earlier and longer because of the z06, which is a great (and faster overall) car i wouldnt mind owning. Both drivers are very skilled, just my thoughts after watching this first thing waking up before heading out on this beautiful day i have off.
Would like to see tracktimes with the Beamer guy in the vette, I think he would do a great job.
I'm not sure that's a Z .. 100+ HP and like 500 lbs lighter should've pulled away a lot more then it did.

More like battling traffic and Z06. The vette did its job by making the BMW driver feel like a man for a day.
The vet walked away when clear track presented itself.
T Z driver was not as confident as the M driver. You swap car between the two driver, the M car would never get close to the Z all day.

We all know the Z06 was going to pull away from the ///M3 in the straights. That's just raw horsepower. However, the place where the ///M3 shines is being able to carry its momentum through corners. Most of the corners I've seen in this video were clogged with people driving ... fairly slow. That being said, I'm surprised the BMW was able to keep up based on his raw horsepower alone. Definitely something to be said about the driver's ability.
WRONG...Its not the car but the driver!..The vette was faster and better on the corners but the driver was not as good as the Beammer...who drove excellent
It’s also 6mt vs a dct. If you can’t heel and toe perfectly than it’s even harder to get away.
Vette is just a beast in the straight away but the m3 is a monster in the corners ...
Sorry, but the Z06 chassis generates more mechanical grip and resulting cornering g force than bwm. Hence Vette is the true monster in the corners in this comparison. But don't take my word for do the research for yourself.
That’s not a Z06. Z06’s have center mounted exhaust outlets below license plate slot. Normal Vettes like this one have them mounted left and right closer to wheel wells.

The concertina effect made it look like the BMW driver was always better on the brakes. He was a few times but not always.
What’s wrong with the z06? Ohh I know the problem is that device which is between the steering wheel and the seat.
Not a real challenge. The Vette driver was very cautious in approaches to corners indicating a low level of experience with this demanding and potentially very dangerous bit of track. The BMW driver was obviously more experienced. But as I say, Vette great in straight line, it is just those damn corners.

This is not z06. Is normal c6.. z06 will pull away much more in straights than this silver c6... maybe it has the fenders of z06. But definetly not z06

The Vette driver clearly doesn't know the track as well. He should have jumped in behind the M3. He's lucky his pride didn't screw him and his car. He got messy a lot.
Nah he's using an H shifter I think....way more challenging in corners

What a shit excuse you come out with, had to shift an H pattern box, how the hell do you think everyone shifted before the advent of paddles? If you need to come out for an excuse for the Vette try and make it decent one, after all the Vette has got at least 236 more B.H.P. Than the M3, that being M3 = 414 b.h.p. Corvette = 650 B.H.P. and at no time during that video do the Vette get so far out in front that the M3 couldn't get back in contention with it, I'm thinking the Only thing that corvette did better than the M3 is wear out a set of disc pads, all I saw was corvette stop lights coming on, poor guy in the M3 must have had to brake hard so as not to shunt the corvette in the corners......must try harder is the only marks I can give you on that excuse

Ok, then I stand corrected, it's got only 91 more b.h.p. still isn't that impressive is it, I hear people on here raving on about how good the Vette is and we can all clearly see, a car that a lot of your country men bad mouth is staying with it, ( and not to mention out braking it ) just shows German engineering isn't as bad as some Americans try and tell world, I even had an American so called M.Benz technician try and tell me I.R.S. Back axels are crap, better to have the old cart springs,! Again I didn't get the feeling the M3 was struggling in the corners, just look at miss Sabine Schmidt throw an M 5 around the same track

2 things: Turn off the electronics & stop changing gears so low! The max power of that engine is near 8000rpm.
Chase Dobbie no need to turn off. It looks to be a slightly damp track, and he is in MDM mode. He is probably short shifting to stop the chassis getting unbalanced during high rpm upshifts.
The amount of electronic intervention is staggering. It's holding your car back. Gotta learn to drive without the safety net.

Justin Spencer nothing wrong with using traction control on the ring. There is no room for mistakes, and it's not a race. You cannot win there, but you can lose.
