To be fair the Z06 has more torque and power. On the other Hand the Porsche is much more expensive. Both cars are great track Tools but i would get the Z06.
Couldn't agree more. I bought a 2012 ZO6, tracked it for a few years, decided I wanted a GT3. Did a GT3 track rental, although it was a great car, not as much fun on the track as the ZO6. I never bought one.
What a bunch of badass dudes, in some badass cars! So cool to see each cars strengths when the vette closes the gap, and when Porsche lengthens it. Love it!
This just shows how close these cars are when driven by people that know what they are doing. I keep looking at buying a c6 Z06 or a c7 stingray, just for driving around on regular roads, and realize that most of today's sports cars are far beyond my skill and the surfaces I will enjoy them on.
Some info that might help everyone understand better what happened that day: - corvette owner is a friend and we were not battling. - we wanted to make a nice video from behind of my GT3 RS - the Corvette is NOT stock: - suspensions fully adjustable, engine tuned, less weight, rear wing - the Corvette is faster than the GT3 on the Ring, too many horsepower - if you want to compare the Corvette with a Porsche pick the GT2.... but than the GT2 is faster.... ops! - GT3 RS is completely stock + 1 passenger ;)
I just LOVE watching Corvettes EAT other cars that cost so much more than the Vettes. And for 2016, WATCH OUT. The new 2016 Vette has 650hp and 650ftp torque. Incredible.
in my case I spent less than 100.000€ in 2009 to buy this RS 997 mk1 with 12.000km (price for the same car new was around 140.000€). Now check what is the price you would pay in case you are looking for an RS... now add a new search and see what a Z06 is priced today. Maybe it was smarter to pay triple for my car... ciao :)
You wouldn't buy a Gt4 today with 100k. At most a mk1 gt3. 100k would buy you a low mileage 2013 z06 and you would still have 50-60k for mods and to enjoy it.
I bought a GT4 couple of month ago.... 100€. In october I will start posting videos with it. Z06 is a fantastic car, I had the chance to try the one of the video and I was definitely surprised! So balanced and so much traction, great! I would buy one definitely... but not to replace my GT3's.... ;)

Interesting and great video, the battle between the Vette and Porsche will never die BUT with that said I used to always own a 911 or a 928 of some form then in 08 I bought a new Z06 last year I bought another new 16 Z06 with nothing more than a little exhaust and computer tuning I am over 700 hp and have not even touched the pulley on the blower! Porsche builds very nice cars, are they worth twice the price of my Z06? Not to me!
I think the better driver was in the Corvette. To me it looked like the only reason the Porsche stayed in front before the straight was because he refused to give room when the other guy was clearly moving faster. Poor manners

I own an '07 Corvette Z06 (same color 'Atomic Orange'). It is a very capable track car as is the Porsche GT3. Information we don't have is the mods to the Vette vs the Porche. And experience of the drivers. The drivers can be all the difference in the world. However, what I really want to know is what type and model of car was the camera car!!!

911 cockblocking quite a bit when the Z had the drive to pass, couldn’t block anymore on the long straight after the mini carousel. 911 sounds good, but I love me some cross plane American V8 pushrod. And the Z is over half the price, easier to work on. 🇺🇸👍💪🦅

And Porsche costs that much because it has such a high reputation and has earned so much respect for their awesome engineering, the Corvette is cool and has a high reputation 2, but in terms of engineering Porsche is superior, they get 415 HP out of 3,6l, GM needs 7,0 to get 515, and there are more little things that justifie that price. Im not a fanboy btw and im not hating on Corvette. And was this Corvette stock? because it has a spoiler.

In stock form without anything done to either car the Corvette and the Viper are faster around any track. Let alone the ring. MT, Car and Driver, etc. all confirm this with a Professional driver. By more than a second faster than the the GT3.The Viper was more than 2 seconds. If nothing was done to either car the Vette is faster. Love the GT3. Very fun and good looking car. It just is not in the other car's ( Vette and Viper ) league.

Regardless the Z06 also has a large variance in claimed HP ranging from 400 - 505 on the biggest engine available, the 7.0L 505HP LS7. (Yes, I looked it all up.) So, without additional info, your HP claims are completely unfounded...
