- Before the start of this season, pretty much everyone predicted Sergio Perez to be out of a seat for 2025. The return of Daniel Ricciardo was seen as a move by Red Bull to prepare him to take over Checo’s seat after his difficult 2023. But Daniel Ricciardo’s disappointing start to the year, and Perez’s blistering start, the tables have completely turned. Today I’m going to check out what has changed for the Mexican driver this year and look at whether or not he actually has a chance of retaining his seat beyond this season, so let’s get started.

totally agree - imo Daniel is overrated. I would much rather see Yuki in redbull than Daniel. Shame Yuki got a really bad temper, even worse than Max lol
You telling me his single test session last season on unknown tires and different track conditions wasn’t enough to prove he deserved the #1 car #2 seat? Yea me neither. Let the oh he still has his old RB form still left in him continue. Deserves the Nyck treatment if he can’t turn this around ASAP!
At this point in time...Sergio is better. No need to replace him.

6:40 - To be clear Checo was just 8 sec behind Max during the Saudi Grand Prix. The reason the final result shows 13 seconds is because he incurred 5 seconds penalty for unsafe release in pit
This channel is so bias it's hard to watch a full video without getting an aneurysm

And unsafe release is way more of a pit crew error then the driver.

Yes they need Perez more than they admit. Perez has adapted to his RBs. Most will have the same struggles and would have to adapte to Max stile driving.
You are on point, also Red Bull had to create the Marketing department of Red Bull F1 because of the number of sponsors and the marketing deals that PEREZ is bringing. So performance and money He is bringing...
Checo has improved over the years on the championship table. He has been at the top when Max hasn’t (2022 & 2021). Helped Max in crucial battles with Hamilton (Turkey, Brazil, Abu Dhabi 2021), he has listened to team orders and while he isn’t 2s off the pace during the race he has finished this season in 2nd. Leave him alone he is doing great.
For "some" reason Checo does not get the respect that he deserves from the Euro press. He never has!
Lol I’ve noticed that. If Checo does a good job, it’s because all other European drivers had problems apparently. I’ve noticed the patterns in their videos.
But when Albon, Ocon, Sainz, and Even Yuki do a few good races, they get praised and say they don’t get the RB seat.
Checo is a marketing monster. He brings in more merchandising cash for RB that all of Max’s products together. And that’s just talking from sales. Sponsors is on a whole other level.

You really hate checo or didn’t did your home work. 😂 I don’t even think most of us who have been watching F1 for a while, would have disagreed, checo was always considered one of “the best of the rest.” Btw, his win at sakir didn’t necessarily push RB to sign checo, he was having a really good year that season. And albon was having a melt down because “they race him too hard” 😂
It just looks like he is bad since he drives against a generational talent, in a car, which is easier to drive with Max' style. The Mercedes like Racing Point is much more Checo's style and even thought Verstappen would most likely (who knows tho, we haven't seen him outside of a RB team yet) still be faster, but not by that amount. See early results of 2022 when the car was more understeery.
@@bobo-tp9gb Oh dude absolutly. Max is an absolute beast. And he would thrive in any car. But I do think checo is way better then a lot of people seem to think he isn’t. That 2nd redbull seat is a tough one though, not only because of max, but because of Jos and Marko. No driver can even think about getting close to max, because those two would throw a fit in an instant. Imo, it was a miracle checo even got that second place last season. That seat is HOT
just like Albon when he was at Red Bull everyone hated him now at Williams everyone praises him. Checo is pretty much better than all the drivers except top level drivers. Max Lecrec Hamilton Alonso. Checo is around equal if he has a car that agrees with his driving to, Sainz George Norris.

Pérez is behind Sainz, Norris and Russell, hje is only great on rear limited tracks, everywhere else he's bang average, he also had abysmal race-craft sometimes.
At this point in time, I can't imagine Danny Ric being considered as a replacement for Checo. In fact, Ricciardo is perhaps in danger of losing his current seat unless he pulls his finger out.
you don't think RB know exactly what happened in the pits and the issue with Danny's car?
If Perez will accept that he won’t beat Max and will aim to bring his car to home on 2nd place, Perez will stay.. if Perez thinks that he can beat Max and frustrate himself because of this, like he did last year… then he will fail and he’ll be out.

Sergio is the best driver for the job. He just needs to realize he can't beat Max. No reflection on him. I'm glad to see things are working out for him. For my part, I love seeing a North American driver with such talent. Why would he go anywhere else, when Redbull has the fastest cars. He's not going to beat Max in any other car.
I think ric is staring down the barrel of his final time ever in an F1 car. He needs to consider his long term options. If he can’t perform he needs to bow out

Sergio if replaced will only be replaced by Carlos Sainz Jr in 2025

Driving for the best team is like everything a driver can wish for!
Will he be Max's n°2? For sure (i mean, a part from Lewis and Charles, i see none with the ability to challenge him in equal machinery), but he will back couple of race wins!
Peres is much better than most wanted to admit. DR is the one that all the time promises more than can deliver. So, it’s time to see real facts, if RB goes for a different driver they may do not get the same performance they have your SP. They have the best team in the grid
Daaaaamn biased opinion. He has never been an average driver, he drove cars at the end of the field and got points, he is not a top driver but he is sooo much better than what your biased opinion let you admit.
He never truly beat any of his teammates, he was neck and neck with Ocon, Hulkenbgerh and Kobayashi.
So yes, he is average by F1's standards.
Sergio's seat at RBR has always been his to lose. As long as he drives well, there's really no speculation required. I hope he continues to drive well this year, and maybe even steals a win, however improbable that is.
There are many drivers that could likely outperform him in the same car but I don’t think there are many drivers who could put up with Max Verstappen while at the same time not intimidate the Belgian Bully.
Perez is the current wingman version of Botas, Barrichelo; he's a perfect fit for RB and Max.
Checo should remain for sure ,hopefully he carries on the season as he’s started and wins a couple of races.Riccardo I think thought he had this drive sewn up but he hasn’t .

Stick a fork in 'em, he's done! 😆 Danny Ric has been a 'has been' since he ran away from Max and made Red Bull look like idiots, when he jumped ship like a rat off a sinking ship to Renault to IMMEDIATELY start the downward spiral by going off into the grass at the start of the season opener in Australia of all places! Then to McLaren to get his lunch taken by Lando and then off into the ether of "Driver Limbo" along with Mick the Prick until Horner throws him a lifeline because Toto did for Schumacher. Daniel Ricciardo's Formula 1 career has actually been over for a long time, it's just most people are only realizing it now. 😉
I compltely agree, Ricciardo doomed himself, RB has no reason to bring him back.
The lack of respect or at least the lack of consideration towards PEREZ is at least disconcerting, saying that RICCIARDO's marketing power is enormous and without taking into account that VERSTAPPEN is losing sponsors and that Red Bull had to create the Marketing department of Red Bull F1 alone because of the number of sponsors and the marketing deals that PEREZ is bringing in are simply insulting. As a simple example, Red Bull's Japanese GP caps for PEREZ are sold out, while caps for the team and VERSTAPPEN are still available. I hope Daniel finds his way but at the same time I believe it is on another racing category like NASCAR, somewhere where He can perform and most importantly be happy.
People gotta understand Perez job is support… his defensive driving is off the charts and he can save his wheels… he can literally HOLD im sayin HOLD lets say p3-p1 while max is “boxing” cause he is absolutely good with saving wheels

Ok so how was 2023 not good for him? He got P2 in a RedBull tahtbeas tammpered with throughout the season. So Checo is a much better pilot than Daniel. Your smile cant drive for you! If Checo was from The U.S. everyone would bow down to him. He would be a much bigger star he would have already won a Championship. But nope he is Mexican so Erou's want him out!!

Well you can look at it 2 ways , he's finished p2 for the first 2 races ... or he's finished 22 and 15 seconds behind his team mate . Red bull clearly have the fastest car in the field this year , so he really needs to finish p2 every race that max wins , but if any other teams catch up I suspect he'll be in trouble (notably , both 22 and 23 he really dropped off pace compared to max) .
As for Ricciardo , probably not , we're only 2 races in though and from Japan on is where I expected to see some pace from him . Not to rag on him , I'd like to see him back at his best (at his best he is a force to be rekoned with , I'm not sure he's quite over the soul crushing he got at mclaren) , even if he ends up in another team 👍
Daniel and the other guy are not good enough for the drive. Red bull should forget all other drivers and sign up Carlos S. If Max is stupid to listen to his dad and the old man and leave Horner will have a ready made driver to win multiple WDC
Sainz? He won’t win a WDC. He’s good, and a great asset to any team, but I think he’s just not good enough to win it all. Too inconsistent overall smh…

Danny's personality is what is getting him by at this point in F1. I like Danny, he is funny and pretty chill but he's not as good as a driver as before. Checo has remained consistent besides last year and is a better driver. Yuki has beaten most of his teammates except Lawson, so I say RB should dump Danny and get Liam in. Red Bull should keep the Max Checo combo going on.
Tsunoda was destroyed by Gasly for a year and a half.
Checo is racing Ferrari, Maclaren, Mercedes and Aston Martin, probably in that order. He needs to be faster than them and beat them to second, and his delta to Max is almost irrelevant. Like the old joke “I don’t need to outrun the chasing bear, I only need to out run you”.
I still want to see Sainz in a Redbull.
The challengers have had their shot, and they've done nothing. Any new challenger to Perez's seat is at least a year or two away in development.
Red Bull probably want to replace him, but there's nothing there. The only two drivers at that level at the moment are Sainz and Hulkenberg.
Norris would be perfect n°2 for Verstappen imo.

crushing? lol three years in a car vs Rics 9 races. Daniel had the highest point finish of the 2023 season for AT. I am a fan of both drivers but it will take a little more data to confirm who is doing the best at VCARB. Lets see a few more races before we write any driver off. I would love to see DR in the red bull again but honestly its not looking very likely.

So far at AlphaTauri, he has done worse than Lawson who was a rookie.
I think the plan for Dan Ricky is to make their sister team better.
