I personally look forward to spending longer periods of time mastering more difficult skills. What makes me dread it is having to interact with people while I'm learning. Learning a skill is simple and inevitable if you break it down enough and turn it into a habit. What tends to screws me up are the unpredictable variables: disappointment from your family, social/familial pressure, people making sudden decisions that interfere with your goals, etc. Thanks for the video, David. Just what I needed.
Hey man I know I'm a bit late to the show, but this is amazing advice! Not just for vocals, but for any skill. I'm a artist for fun, and using your simple, straight to the point, no BS explanation made me better after 1 video! Can't wait to scream like you after watching all your videos and some hard practice. BOSS LEVEL!
i never had anyone to confirm or deny whether what i was doing was right, so it took me months of learning anatomy and watching videos and trial and error to learn false cord. but after i learned it, i taught my little brother to false cord in a single car trip. 10 minutes 😂 so hard to learn without someone KNOWLEDGEABLE teaching you. and confirming whether youre doing it right
Honestly man there is no clear right or wrong because everyone is different. Just general areas and ideas. As long as it doesn’t hurt you’re good. If you’re still worried you can check if you are getting vocal swelling after your screams at home there are a few good videos to explain how to check but I recommend getting your vocal chords checked out about every six months if you’re doing any type of harsh vocals
I needed this reminder about that wonderful book I once read by James clear thank you so much I need to apply it to practicing guitar and singing again
All i can say is thank god for my autistic brain o-o Because just about every interest I ever had, I've managed to stick to it by myself without others having to stand behind me. This include exercising, screaming, among other things in my life especially when it comes to things I want. But I guess that's just me :P
Sounds like a lot of bullshit, but ok =/ it sounds like those advices from self-help ''experts'', wishing to give you the ways to by-pass your brain unabilities and reluctance for a ''better life''. Best way is, in my opinion, to understand yourself, and not to try to make yourself into someone you're not. Accept your flaws, take them as your own, and just prove yourself you are stronger than just a lazy or scared weak creature. Everybody has the potential to better themselves, it's not some motivational speech bs, it's just a fact. The only motivation you need is that you are capable of doing whatever you want (as long as it is humanely possible and not completely insane, like becoming a billionaire overnight, or at all xD ), your only obstacle is yourself and you're the only one that can overcome yourself. Taking someone else's mindset is stupid, as it will work for a time, but you will only truely succeed if you carry yourself along the way, you and all your fears and flaws, and if you're not trying to be someone else or to corrupt your mind with that crap. You are a piece of shit, deal with it, and show yourself you're more than just that. Being a loser is not wrong and it's not the end of the world, as long as you forge the will to go on and work hard on that part of you that drags you down. I'm sorry, man, I almost always agree with what you say, but this time, I think it's particularly wrong and almost dangerous, to tell that kind of things to people =/ Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong. Just wanted to give my sincere opinion. Still love you, though ;D gimme a smooch!
