I think 2nd edition MYTHIC is really really good... BUT I really really REALLY like 1st edition because it contains all a solo gamer should ever need without all the extra fluff. I have both, but I use my original book (and always will) for all my games. Its cleaner and more accessable to me :-)
Oh I totally get that. It really is a lovely book and crammed full of so much randomness the player is literally spoilt for choice. Remarkable piece of work all round. No.. what I mean (and I just mean applied to me, not anyone else) I have been playing with MYTHIC for 20 odd years now - since the year it came out, and have played (and am currently playing) an ongoing campaig that has lasted literally all of that time, and the original MYTHIC does everything I could ever want. It pushes creativity and doesnt spoon feed me into thinking in a particular way... i.e. not TOO many charts and tables offering me endless randomisers to replace my own ideas. I use my own imagination for that more than constant charts. Original MYTHIC ultimately got that balance j-u-s-t right. It even inspired me to write my own solo oracle system (which I have also been using side be side with MYTHIC all these years). But ultimately I think 3000 plus pages of campaign material (and photos of my in game to enhanse the story) speaks volumes just how good the original version was.... and IS.

Mythic is amazing; both 'Game Master Emulator Second Edition' book and 'Mythic Role Playing' book.
Another great video! I would love to see you do the adventures using mythic, there are plenty of travelers ones that I'd rather see than a fantasy one! But that's just me because there's not enough sci-fi content...
@@MrBunraku I'd suggest looking up the channel for Seth gorkowski, I don't know if that's spelled correctly! But he's reviewed a lot of traveler adventures and that he might give you a few ideas and assistance on which one would be fun! I think there is one that is nicknamed bat s h *?!
I would love to see you do a short prepared adventure! I'm thinking of doing the Temple of Elemental Evil using OSE and some guidance on how that might look would be spectacular.
I really enjoyed the video. Here’s a suggestion for a future video. I think it would be pretty cool to do a video on canceled role-playing game that never came out or failed role-play games.
Mythic 2e is a huge improveent over first edition, which was an impressive work already! The cleaned up new Fate chart is so much more user friendly! Also, the one page chart is also worth mentioning (Sold as PDF) and awesome for one shots!
At its core, Mythic is silly: create a yes or no question and roll for the answer. There are lots of bells and whistles built around this mechanic, but at its core, that’s it. Luckily the book also includes lots of lists (prompts) that are more helpful for creating a more nuanced narrative. I have found the best tool for solo play is actually brainstorming with others, so keeping it solo, I use AI to provide lists of suggestions that in turn inspire my own imagination.
I think the great thing about Mythic, and the mechanic that sets it apart from some other oracles, is the sliding chaos factor and the chance for random events. This has helped the adventure that I'm playing feel more like a rpg adventure and less like a story that I'm writing.
You are welcome! Mythic 1st ed sat on my hard drive for quite a long time before I really dug into it and started using it. Watching folks use it on UA-cam was a big help
That's a great question! I've never thought about it! Maybe...? I kinda like the bamf idea. Or when Hormaz was using his enhanced strength, it sounded like the Six Million Dollar Man. (Now I'm dating myself.... )🤣
im ruling Probably? I Mean the telepoter's mass was somewhere. now its not these's gotta be a woosh. oF Couse my pisons can sense each other cuz the powers work by sub atomic partices they feel
If you're 100% happy with Mythic GME 1st edition, then maybe not. If you've ever wanted to see if Mythic could give you a more specific type or theme of adventure, or wanted more specific event tables, then I'd heartily recommend it! It's a really good resource.
Sure! I bought the coil bound paperback version from Lulu. You can find it here! www.lulu.com/shop/tana-pigeon/mythic-game-master-emulator-second-edition/paperback/product-vv95q7.html?q=Mythic+Game&page=1&pageSize=4
I'm still learning mythic so I appreciate this video!
Glad you liked it!

I get that. As I said in the video, I wasn't entirely sure I was going to get 2nd edition. I'm very glad I did, though!

Thanks! Yeah, Traveller or at least 2d6 scifi adventure would be more "on brand." Do you have any suggestions? I'm looking for something kinda short.

Very nice video. Was a great review after having read the book. Would love to see a vid on using Mythic with a published adventure.
Tana has said she’s planning to publish a second edition of the red book, full Mythic RPG.
Good to know! Thanks!

Since I'm mostly doing sci-fi, Traveller specifically, I'll probably do a sci-fi adventure. But the process and principles should be the same!
I will await that episode with bated breath! @@MrBunraku

That might take a bit of research, but I will add it to the list!
Great tip about getting the coil bound version, thanks. It's way more usable, not only as it sits flat, but folds back on itself as well.

Thought showing your gaming bookshelf off? It’s always neat to see what titles other people collect/like
I never considered that! I'll put that on the list!
This was well done, thank you.

Seeing the system applied to a prepared adventure would be helpful and interesting
Came for the Mythic Game Master Emulator 2nd Edition. Stayed for "The Shadow" & "Rocketeer" posters.
Would be great to see a published adventure played with Mythic. Curious about that
Tana is working on a second edition of a proper Mythic RPG! That's certainly a huge step in that direction!
I had bought the pdf but hadn't cracked it open yet. Thanks for the walkthrough.

Have you considered playing d100 dungeon? A really superb and deep system with lots of expansions.
I've heard of that, but I've never looked into it. I should probably pick that up at some point!
I didn’t know there’s a coil bound. I like how flat it lays
Yeah, it's really handy.
I would like to see a adventure with a prepared game
hey ed! In your traveler game do psi powers mak noise like if somedody teleports in the other room do you hear a nightcrawer stye bamf

How about if you have only the first edition of the Mythic GM Emulator, and not all the other Mythic materials, do you recommend buying 2nd edition?
