Being a sorceror, I'd say he arrives due to magic. He doesn't know how he got here, so he doesn't know whether he has an enemy that sent him there or if he had a big spell malfunction and send him there... or maybe a scroll he found or something like that. His quests are simple... find out where he is, get off the island, and find out how he arrived and 'take care of' whatever got him there. :D

Now I understand how to scale the Chaos factor AND the Odds. Logic is the key. And this 10 Qs list is perfect to create an entry to the story. I will try ASAP I have the new Mythic 2e book!! Thanks!!

Awesome! Looking forward to getting the hard copy once it’s available. Trevor Duvall of Me, Myself, and Die has a great review on 2e that has me intrigued. The 10 questions technique is extremely helpful when starting a new sandbox adventure. Let us know how it goes!

I can't thank you enough for this. I'm currently reading the Mythic Adventure Generator Role Playing System book, and while the explanations and examples are quite clear, watching you actually use the system makes it so much easier to remember everything! I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the videos in this series 👍

The fact the he swam ashore at night would explain why he doesn’t know where he’s at.

Puerto Rico is ~100x40 miles. So Drunken Dinosaur Island is 50% as long and 66% as high as PR.

Im late to the party, but the scope of your island is off a bit because if thats the island in comparison to US, that means New Jersey is roughly 75 miles from North to South, where as a quick search shows it to be roughly 200 miles

I guess Malfak using a Dragon Orb to teleport off the ship being attacked is out of the question (ie sole survivor)

I am enjoying your videos thank you for slowly explaining things.. the 10 questions, is that something you made up along the way? is there a set of 10 questions? Sorry I know this is old, but I just stumbled on this.

The set of ten questions were decided after my character was created and choosing 5e’s background. Regardless of the system, I would first create a character, then perhaps ask 5 questions about their background. Where are they from, what do they do, etc. From those questions, we can compile a few more. Do they live in a city? How big is the city? Is it a kingdom or something else? Is the ruler/government lawful or chaotic?

Wonder what would happen if I planned my day according to the oracle…, nothing bad could come of that right?

I stuck at odds at they way asking the question the yes is the more interesting result. But for exemple m’y character approach a facility. With an interrupted scene. So I decide the bad guys let people guarding the roof. If I ask « did they successfully hit me » the yes is the more logic, but the less likely. Then I shoot back. Once more the more interesting question is « do they dodge » but the likely odd was not likely between my position and engine. But as the fire should have been explosive, I ask did that make a huge noise (too know if the other incident hear it ». With a huge likely odd, the shoot was important. The next part is after I park my véhicule on the roof,I go for the door. It was by the same door the bad guys enter so I decide they let their gear in the door and it was no trouble to open. But when entering the building I change the chais factor as it?s a new scene, this time I roll a altered roll. So I imagine with the noise they send a big massive goon waiting for me and he attack me right away. But I stop because once more the more interesting question is « Did he hit le » but I’m not sure to ask the right one.

Great points. The irony of oracle systems like Mythic GM Emulator is that the fewer questions you ask, the better it seems to work. This is one reason why I like games like B/X or OSE, which have a lot of great mechanics built in that take the place of question-asking. Combat, Reaction rolls, Morale, random tables. An oracle used in conjunction with the aforementioned, well-designed game mechanics/simple dice rolls, in my experience, is the happiest of mediums.

For this episode I was using HexGimp, a series of scripts for GIMP. I’m currently using Adobe Illustrator for hex maps.

For this map, I was using "HexGimp." I use GIMP for pretty much everything that involves graphics or maps.
