I have the feeling the fighter is stationed here because the planetary rift is a known danger area, and he is actually the equivalent of the Sheriff's Search & Rescue unit.

I was kind of hoping the fighter pilot would go look for Anselm, become a third member of the team, and actually find what the team is looking for. Cause these 2 really need friends, especially someone who can fight.
