here i am a mother of four in my early 50's and find his music f'n unbelievable. what i would give to have him come to the states and sing me to my grave. thank you Pete. don't waste away my man. you are so precious. thank you for the great lyrics, music and talent. we love u here in Southern California...
what a gorgeous song, such beautiful chords and stunning melody. I prefer this version to the recorded one. He has so much innocence about him in this video. Like a kid, in his room, just with his guitar, running away from the adult world. Perfect.
That song...and hearing him sing it.... Poetry in motion. He could deliver any message he wanted and have people LISTEN to it. He's just captivating. I'll guarantee he changed some peoples minds seeing that performance - the ones who only read the bunk in the rag mags about him. Love how Jonathan Ross 'gets' him and really seems to like the music and Peter. Peter is so much fun to listen to when he doesn't have his guard up like most interviewers do to him. Nice.
i was obsessed with him for so long then kind of went off him but can never slag him. rewatch things like this and it makes me realise ill always think hes great! seems really clean here, hope its still the same now
That song is just beautiful. Similar to much of his legacy to date that he pens such sadness & pain and wraps it in a beautiful melody. Then all the girls sing along -- having sooo much fun doig it. The irony is just so surreal to me. I do await the new album with great anticipation.
we dont call him a genius coz he owns a guitar and he has a drug problem, its because he writes wonderful tunes, and wonderful poetry and lyrics, he has a real talent, and we just respect that.
The chorus reminds me of 'Bang bang you're dead' by Dirty Pretty Things- Doherty and Barat have such amazing creative minds, and when they're together it's magic! Need Libertines back.
is there anybody who can write what they say? i know it takes time but i would love to know what they are talking about and sometimes it's easy hard to understand...
Who sets good examples on tv ? He is good at what he does, regardless of anything else, even though I am not a fan. Parents should be there for good examples, when did musicians become so bloody important ?
that musicians should be good rolemodels has allways and will allways be one of the weakest arguments ever. people that become artists are usually allways more or less troubled people, because for happy people theres often not even a reason why you would become an artist. and to expect of these artists to be well behaved, while being troubled is the thing that got them in this position in the first place is just rediciolous. i mean all a person an do is be himself...and if that person and the way this person is shouldnt be in the public or the media, than way dont people make the tv channels that get them onto their show or the muisic labels that make their music famour responisble for it?
i love it when songs "rip off" a part of another song or poem, or just make an allusion to one. like in "when th sun goes down", by the arctic monkeys, alex says: "and he told roxanne to ut on her red light..." pete does that really well. what's the problem with that? besides, in this song he does say something of another song: "you said too much, you've been to unkind". that's obviously a reference to "boys don't cry". god, i used a hell of a lot of quotes in this comment, didn't i? haha
he's got what Jimmy Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Amy Wine house have all got or had a massive drug habit, but on any given day the above are sheer brilliants in what they do, turn on magic with out trying...
GREAT, i think thats a brilliant song, people go with stereotypes and Peter fell under that terrible majority, but his desire to play music and make music by far overpowers any drug and he has shown that he isn't held back. Can't wait till Reading and Leeds, I'm a class A drug user and i have a succesfull career. Don't judge by the majority judge by the individual!!!
@wfgj youre so right. all the newspapers badmouthing about peter nowasays will abruptly change their minds and praise him. and he'll surely be seen as a great genius later. right now i already see him as one. thats so unfair!
this is briliant, anyone who doubts pete's ability is a fool it blatnely obcious that he is talented and indeed had a future! dont try bring people down wen they're better than u guys!
Bert jansch will be on the forthcoming album, straight from the source :o Music trivia: Bert Jansch was the person who wrote, or made a version of an old folksong called "Blackwater side", Led Zeppelin made a cover of it that's called "Black mountainside".
I wish the press wouldn't shun Pete so much. But I bet they won't warm to him until it's too late (ie - Michael Jackson). Beautiful performance, perfect.
haha, im a freak for that kind of thing, finding allusions in songs about a book or another song. i think its cool to see that our idols also have idols, you know?
I guess he just likes to talk about his music, because he knows that everyone's just talking about drugs and his relationship to Kate and all that stuff. I wouldn't be very enthusiastic as well if I was in his shoes.
what i can't stand is people judging hi for drugs and than saying they like The Doors and every other band in the 60's and 70's who were off there heads on acid, cocaine etc
Well, usually the reason we find songs so good is because we can relate to them or they impress us, and I doubt all of us can relate to 'tortured souls' and it doesnt apply to every good piece of brilliant art. Think about the Mona Lisa, i doubt Da Vinci was cutting himself as he drew it.
I believe that it would be very difficult to not love him after watching this.. Peter's music and Pete himself are just beautiful
Johnathan Ross seems to genuinely like Doherty, he's absolutely hilarious sometimes as well.
Doherty is beautiful as well
i love how much johnathan ross clearly admires him as a songwriter. i really hope he can stay clean, he's such a genius. grace/wastelands is brilliant
This aged well 😊
Indeed, he's healthy as anything and still releasing fantastic music..
i know, i wasn't a big fan off Pete Doherty but this performance is breath takeing, well talented.. and very much turned me in to a fan.
He is just beautiful... The voice...everything
here i am a mother of four in my early 50's and find his music f'n unbelievable. what i would give to have him come to the states and sing me to my grave. thank you Pete. don't waste away my man. you are so precious. thank you for the great lyrics, music and talent. we love u here in Southern California...
There's something about him when he sings that makes me love his soul.
what a gorgeous song, such beautiful chords and stunning melody. I prefer this version to the recorded one.
He has so much innocence about him in this video. Like a kid, in his room, just with his guitar, running away from the adult world. Perfect.
whenever he plays that song it makes me wanna cry, fuck me what a beautiful person and soul
Loved him since I was a child and actually met the guy not long ago. He smelt fantastic
Ha ha I love him too...what did he smell like 🙂
Back then probably heroin and despair. These days cheese and wine.
Ahhhhh I love that.
😂😂😂😂😂😂

How can you not love this guy?! He's uhmaaaaaaazing!
He's a poet. It's amazing what he writes.
slating a true talent and artist's thats the world we live in today people
:o me too, i will be there, so excited, hope he performs this song, i absolutley love!
i have loved pete ever since i saw him perform this song and do this interview. what a beautiful person inside and out
i was obsessed with him for so long then kind of went off him but can never slag him. rewatch things like this and it makes me realise ill always think hes great! seems really clean here, hope its still the same now
2007 Peter is my favorite...
the sweetest most poetic man i have the honour of calling my friend
That song is just beautiful. Similar to much of his legacy to date that he pens such sadness & pain and wraps it in a beautiful melody. Then all the girls sing along -- having sooo much fun doig it. The irony is just so surreal to me. I do await the new album with great anticipation.
Ahhh Pete ! Still love you !
What a stunning song
god he looks sooo young here
Peter looks so beautiful in this interview and is so so sweet
listening to Pete doherty is quite overwhelming sadness a talented musian and poet the last of the british poets
it's so sad because when he's playing he's beautiful and amazingly fascinating. and then in the interview you see how stoned he is....
actual love for peter. this is one of my favourites shambles songs
@MACSEAIN the song is called "The Lost Art of Murder" by Babyshambles.
When the silence is so that you can hear a pin drop, you know you're witnessing something special.
we dont call him a genius coz he owns a guitar and he has a drug problem, its because he writes wonderful tunes, and wonderful poetry and lyrics, he has a real talent, and we just respect that.
I loved this song. Very calm and enjoyable. And he looked healthy. I hope he's doing well still.
This should replace the album version
100%
The chorus reminds me of 'Bang bang you're dead' by Dirty Pretty Things- Doherty and Barat have such amazing creative minds, and when they're together it's magic! Need Libertines back.
Does anybody know when the new album is going to be released?
2007
just beautiful
beautiful song. beautiful mind pete has too. genius
I find him quite lovely. (:
@TheTobyMaestro I think it's a Gibson ES-125. Not that I figured it out for myself, just what I've seen other people write =)
whats the song called that he sings?
very underrated by millions....sweet...
Is Doherty using a thin line ES 125? or the original one i cant tell?
I have this on my ipod
is there anybody who can write what they say? i know it takes time but i would love to know what they are talking about and sometimes it's easy hard to understand...
The Lost Art of Murder. Its the last track on the Babyshambles album, Shotters Nation. I really recommend that album
What's this song called?
jonathon ross tells it at the start. The lost art of murder. you can find it on babyshamble's second album, shotter's nation.
what is the name of this song?

what guitar is that?
hes a brilliant writer. Doesn't matter that he's a junkie, if he continues writing songs like that then hes always gonna be an awesome musician
because it's pretty new. i think he made it in august or september 07.
what book is that?
He's perfect here.Simply perfect :)
GREAT, i think thats a brilliant song, people go with stereotypes and Peter fell under that terrible majority, but his desire to play music and make music by far overpowers any drug and he has shown that he isn't held back. Listen to that applause!! Wow.
he's such a nice guy..
i really do love pete.
he has amazing talent.

Great song. One of the few in which he didn't rip off another song or poem.
how come he never laughs?
Hes actually so sweet. And very shy actually

Thats a pretty cool guitar
When was this on TV?
Such a talented guy!
I wish the press wouldn't shun Pete so much. But I bet they won't warm to him until it's too late (ie - Michael Jackson). Beautiful performance, perfect.

I guess he just likes to talk about his music, because he knows that everyone's just talking about drugs and his relationship to Kate and all that stuff. I wouldn't be very enthusiastic as well if I was in his shoes.
i usually don't like the guy
but the stuff he comes out with is amazing
Love Pete.... Last proper rock star.
what i can't stand is people judging hi for drugs and than saying they like The Doors and every other band in the 60's and 70's who were off there heads on acid, cocaine etc
whatever his demons he is still a talented singer/songwriter and that is what should be focused on.
love him
A calmer life?! He looks high as a kite here!
Genio
It's true, you see right through me.
Charming lad xx
@kaliyuta sober??? are you serious???
Well, usually the reason we find songs so good is because we can relate to them or they impress us, and I doubt all of us can relate to 'tortured souls' and it doesnt apply to every good piece of brilliant art. Think about the Mona Lisa, i doubt Da Vinci was cutting himself as he drew it.
gonna miss u Pete
