you got me when you mentioned the oregon trail. i have said for years, i was born 100 years too late. just think, there were a bunch of men using drills, dyn-o-mite, how about some other mines where 2 guys used picks and shovels. some of those mines go way back into the hills, and down 40-50-feet or more. hard lifeis an under statement.

I’m 69 years old. When I was very young, my grandmother told me stories about traveling in a covered wagon. At the time I thought oh no, she’s gonna tell me those stories again! Now, I wish I could remember them. We’re from Oklahoma & she moved from southern OK to northern OK. I’d like to know how long it took them. Many years later, I found out that my 5th great grandfather was a famous Cherokee chief. (On my grandfather’s side.) My aunt always swore that their grandmother was Cherokee, or at least half but they just didn’t talk about that stuff. I grew up in Hominy, OK in Osage county with the Osage. My grand parents property was separated from the “Indian Village” by a ditch. We would go to the pow wows on the weekend, then come home & sleep in their “ summer house” (a screened in room above the cellar). I would go to sleep hearing the drums still beating! My fondest memory! She made me a cotton sack, my size, so I could pick cotton with her. (Of course I played more than I picked). She also made a bonnet for me to wear when I helped her in the garden. She was a pretty stern woman but I know she loved me!

Always looking forward to your next episode. Your channel has been a great inspiration to my wife and I. We are looking to sell the house and travel and get out there for the RV lifestyle. We are at the beginning stages of selling off all the stuff we have been acquiring for all these years and take a complete new direction and your videos have given us a real insight on what it takes to be a full timer. Planning on setting up a mobile office in the toy hauler so we can continue to work in our 50s on the road. Thanks for giving all of us a glimpse into the lifestyle. 😎👍

Fascinating town but Todd, why did you not include that the town was founded by the decendents of Phil and Charlies ex wife Greta? Phil and Greta had three sons and two daughters who then married and had children of their own. One of these second generation children stumbled upon Charlies’ rock figures and realizing it was their great uncle who placed them on the rock and then were inspired to go forth and do great things in their uncle’s memory. They stopped one day on the site of this town and saw some sparkling rocks that turned out to be the quartz which held the gold. Once others heard of the gold the town grew rapidly and they became very wealthy. Unfortunately they completely forgot about Charlie.
