I was there in the summer of 1970. It looks remarkably the same! My sister and I were exploring and one of the old cabins intrigued us so we were going to go into it and then heard groaning....like someone had just gotten up and was being very verbal about it. We didn't know if we would encounter an old vestige of a Mountain Man or just a run of the mill ghost, but we made tracks to get away! :) I love WY, just too cold for me to stay there in the winter. I'd love to live there!

That's scary! Now I'll wonder what made the groaning. Yes, Wyoming is prohibitively cold and windy in the winter, or I'd live there myself! It's like the last bastion of true American freedom there. Drive 40 miles south though, and it's a lot warmer!

My son and I went there on the way to the National Military Vehicle Museum in Dubois. They actually have machinery powered up at the Carissa Mill. The gravity mills were built on a hillside and took advantage of gravity to move the ore to the next step of the process.

Your funny. You must be pretty entertaining at work. I like the bloopers at the end.

I actually like the wind noise. It adds to the quiet place feeling. Not meant to be punny!

For those that want to tour the mill it needs to be reserved online ahead of time on South Pass web page.
