Yes Todd, when I was 12 years old my parents had bought an RV....on one of our trips across country, my two brothers and I drove our parents nuts singing 99 bottles on the wall. And yes we made it to the end of the song......one of the best times we every had during our travels....
This is the video we found trying to decide on a new GPS for our travels. We were hooked on your channel as soon as we watched. You guys remind us of....us.
Guys, Doing my Research on this 890, Your video is really good and all the pros and cons help. Think this is the GPS for me, Rollin with a Ram 3500 Dually, pulling a 33ft Grand Design 5er, Hang in there and be safe. Blow off the negative reply's.😎😎
This brought me back to elementary school, where train A left the station at 80 mph & train B left west of station A at 65 mph...with a clearance of 13'6' with 2 kayaks. Yes the song was completed on the way to church camp, summer '73, Toccoa GA with my dad & uncle driving the bus~
I'm pretty sure I would have stopped the bus 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm commenting. I done did all of the things. Great review. We love ya'll, keep up the great work. Please have blessed travels.
Hey there Chad! Thanks for doing all the things as always ~ We appreciate you being a part of the Switch Crew Community!
I thought I was golden with Apple car play. Now I need one. Thanks a lot.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Trevor you are welcome - "Todd" might become your new curse word lol
Thank you for taking the time to review this product.

I love our Garmin… ours is RV760… and we have a 2022 RAM 3500 SRW CrewCab Limited… Safe Travels
Thank you for the RV GPS review, after our trip to Glacier using our phone app for navigation, I am thinking we need to upgrade. Also thank you Todd and Sheila for making me UA-cam famous! That was me on the ladder.
Oh my stars!! Hi Mike! We are so glad you made it under that bridge!!!
I’ve been watching since you started out. Always a great video. Sheila’s eye roll at 99 bottles of beer was perfect. Stay safe.
Thanks for watching we really appreciate it!
Okay....I'm sold. Not just on the Garmin 890 but on you two. I was originally just out looking for honest feedback on the Garmin and I came across you all. Oh my what a mess you two are (in a good way). I was laughing out loud for real. You have a new sub in me and I look forward to going back and watching your posts to get caught up. You are so refreshing .....thank you for being you! Safe travels! Nate
We like our 890 also. Thanks Sheila, my wife thinks the trivia game sounds like great idea !!
Looking at buying one of these and saw your video review. It really helped me make an informed decision. And your video had me giggle out loud more than once- a first for me watching a product review. Thank you! 👍
Perfect timing!!! Was just looking at the Garmin RV 890! Thanks so much, great review.
Glad we could help!
I’m a truck driver I use trucker path app really handy and open a xpo fuel card you will get massive discounts and rebates between .10 cents and .60 cents on average
What? It doesn't make sandwiches? LOL = you are funny! Loved the humour! Keep it up! (BTW, it does speak French). Thank you for the great review! We are planning on buying one soon 🙂
Velcro is your friend
Great job!
Good information!
You guys do such a good job on product reviews.. I hope you can do more soon as this is so important to the RV world and you did an awesome job.
Thanks for all you do!
Thank you for such kind words - we appreciate it a lot!
You guys are awesome! 😆 not a boring review AT ALL! Thanks for a great review! Happy adventures to you! ❤
Ya'll are spot on and on point! Thank you for your info and entertainment.
Love this review. We too have the 890 and really enjoy it!
Live mine. Used it from michigan to disney world fort wilderness. Took me awhile to figure out to link it to my phone.
I like the goofy way you explain things that way I'm not going to sleep with the technology.
Thanks now I know what to get my husband for his birthday this August.
Thanks for such an informative (and entertaining) review of the Garmin GPS. I had no idea it could do all those things.
Thank you. Needed this review!
Glad it was helpful!
I really enjoy your videos you guys are the most entertaining rvers on you tube. I truly like some other you tubers but you guys are laugh out loud funny. The video with the tree crabs was gut busting. My wife and I will joining the on road community soon.
Thanks for your honest review. I’ve been looking at these for my rig for a major trip this summer. It seems like everyone loves to bash the Garman, but, like you said, you need to use a little common sense and not just blindly follow the computer. I think I’m sold now. Thanks again!
Death Valley is beautiful in the winter 😎.
Great tip!
Sheila, could you do a video on trip planning? We are just starting our rv adventure and could use some pointers.
It's on the list - looks like by these comments I need to move it up the list 🤣 So yes, I'll get on it!
Yes !!
@@SwitchItUpLife looking forward to that. Do you get anxiety as a riding passenger? I’m weirdly having a major problem with that.
Very, very helpful video! Thanks for the fair and honest review! The husband added both GPS and dash cam to the list.
Glad it was helpful for you! Thanks for watching
Thanks for the review and it was fun😃 doing all the things!
Appreciate you!
Another awesome video. I’m looking at getting one soon.
It was nice to see the Garmin in action. Thanks for the information.
You bet - Thanks for watching
Great review, thank you! I think we need one!
Love Garmin products, I use the Zumo on the bike.
Great company with excellent products for sure!
I Love Trivia!!! My daughter told me I should be on Jeopardy....I told her...I know alot about nothing!!! 🤣
🤣 Well on Jeopardy that nothing can pay lol!
What about map and software updates? Are those free, lifetime? Thanks for the review.
So far those have been free - and it's been almost 2 years....
That's on on our list for future travels. So far just NC, SC, and Tennessee trips so far. We know those states too well lol. Great video, thanks.
Thank you for watching/doing all the things & for your support!
Love my Garmin RV GPS. I might have the older model - but it works great. Need to check out that dual dash cam. Thx for making me add another thing to my Amazon cart!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tips. #Tech talk with Todd.
Loved the review and we LOVE our Garmin too. Hey, can you give info on the trivia game? My husband and I love to play trivia games as we travel! You can find some good questions through Google too! Great way to pass the time. Share where you got your cards, please?
The game is called Road Trip Trivia 🤣 Kinda fun and gives ideas of things to go see as well.
Always enjoyable. Happy trails.
Y’all just tickle me! This was a very helpful review. Sheila can you share how you trip plan and how far in advance you are making reservations? We are so wanting to get on the road but really am unsure of how best to plan our first trip and how far out to book and plan to go or do we just go on a wing and a prayer!
In the works! I mean I'm all about prayer but my motto is on a plan and a prayer 🤣 Thanks for doing all the things
That was very informative, my husband is checking on the Garmin. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the review.
thanks for watching
I like the travel game.
Love that it can pair with a phone ! Seem to enjoy the zoom in and out. Thanks for the review! 🖖🏻👍🏻🙏🏻😘
Another great video. So informative
I’m doing all the things. Safe travels you two
Thank you for doing all the things
That's the one we have and love it. Good review!!
Thank you
Sheila IS the best! I'd love to see how you plan a trip with it.
Coming soon to a youtube channel you subscribe too :-)
Great review video. We were going to get one but I am sure I will get distracted and crash😂😂. The screen is huge. We use google maps, a truckers app and RV Trip Wizard. Only had to do a 15 point turn once 🤣🤣🤣.
Hey G- Man ummmm once is enough on 15 points lol Thanks for doing all the things as always!
The Garmin 890 is on our list to purchase next. Awaiting for a little price break and then will jump on it. Nice work on the video.
You might want to checkout TechnoRV. They have $100 off the Garmins.
I also use this GPS. I need to use more of its features. Another great video!
For full discloser, I have a Garmin GPS and I use Google maps. How ever, I don't like the GPS. I started traveling in '67 by car at 20 years of age cross country. In '78 my parents bought a new class C when we moved from Ill. to South Dakota. They traveled coast to coast in that unit. And guess what no GPS. In '93 they got a 33' class A and continued their traveling without a GPS or Google maps. They continued this way till Aug of 2000. Never lost, no low obstructions met. We have friends who have RVed for over 50 years and still have no GPS nor use Google maps.
On a recent trip I tried the GPS for routing and it would have taken us several miles out of our way. That not gonna happen. Google maps was the same way. So as usual I just used a good ole Atlas as my primary planning tool. Thanks for your info.
To much work not to mention you don't know all the new roads for RV'S so GPS for rv's is the way to go. You can use a Atlas to double check but Atlas only tells you so much. But whatever goes your towing! Stay safe.
Do you Garmin to plan your trip? Some people use Google maps. Because I'm working on planning a 3 week trip.
I use various different tools. The Garmin is one, a spreadsheet and a couple apps are the other.
Very convenient! This is a must have for us. Thanks for the review!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching
Great video as always. I wish the Garmin would connect to the fusion backup camera so I don't have to have two screens setup. What are all the devices you have connected in your truck besides the Garmin and the Dashcam?
We also run our TPMS but that's all - those 3 things
Hey guys this is a fantastic review! (only you can make us laugh during a product review LOL)......I know this review was completed a few years ago, however we are just getting into the lifestyle and are wondering if this is still your GPS of choice today? We drove from Ottawa, ON to Florida a few weeks ago, using RV Life GPS....It had a few 'odd' directions that would have us exit the hwy and basically have us turn around and head back north on the I75 and then have us exit again and continue south on I75 again.....we caught on to what it was doing fairly quickly, but it was still a pain in the butt. We head back in January and are looking for a more reliable GPS. Thanks for taking the time to read this ramble....😂 all the best
Yes - we use this every trip and 99.8 percent of the time it is fantastic. We do pull up a google map and do a quick mile comparison because a couple of times it seems to take a longer route so we just do a quick check first
perfect thank you so much, I appreciate your time! @@SwitchItUpLife
Love the elevation as well. I have an older version of that unit. Going to upgrade mine with that I think.
That was a nice switch....up your game. Trivia 😄😉
Doing all the things! You really did switch it up today- flipping the image & Kung fu movie lip sync (well out of sync). Loved it!
See you at Devils Tower. Headed that way tomorrow. Great review!
Thanks for watching!
We have the 890 also. Switch it up!!
Thanks for watching!
Loved your details!
Thanks for the review, i bought one but haven’t used it yet. Glad to know it’s a good one..
Thanks for the great information.
Have you uses RV Trip Wizard? If you have, I assume you still prefer the Garmin?
Have used both and so far the Garmin wins but we are still newbies 🤣
Love the review. We are looking at getting one 👍
Shiela, we don't feel those big bumps in our HDT🤣😭😂, Makes it so Cindy doesn't have to stop as often 🤣😅. Love u guys.
Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy, "xtreambydesign with passion"
Well there is another positive for the HDT :-).
Todd, if you and Sheila make it to LA ( lower Alabama) I can show you where they filmed some of the movie "Close Encounters" I have friends that were extras in the movie. Love my Garmin also.
The link to the Garmin 890 doesn't work. Can you provide a model number I can search?
Great review! We are considering one.
Thanks for the review!
Oh how I wish truck drivers had GPS units this nice. Extra features are worth the money.
We love ours too!
Thanks for doing all the things Kathy
Todd. There was part of you video that showed that you have a door on both sides of your 5’er. How did you pull that shot off? Trickery
Thank you, great info. I have a question or 2, maybe you can help me. We live in New York and we're heading out West for 2 and a 1/2 months in May for our biggest trip yet. We are only RVing for one year.. We have a class C and flat tow our Jeep. We have been using Google maps and RV Life and it works good for us so far. There has only been one time where we lost our signal and got a little jammed up but nothing too serious. Going out West is another story. So we're thinking we mabey should get a Garmin. I just looked on my dashboard and windshield and there really is no room for that huge 8" screen. Even 6" would be to big. Do you think I should just get one that's made for a car? Or do you know if there are any other options? Or is there a small one that I could put in the height of my RV? I like the idea of putting in the height so it don't direct me to any low bridges. I think one that's much smaller would maybe fit ok. I don't need a big screen but I like the idea of having a satellite map instead of something that could lose the signal. I'm just looking for some advice, any help would be appreciated. Also does the Garmin have an attachment where you could hook it up to something other than the window? I'm also gonna try to call the Garmin company hoping to get someone on the phone for ideas. Thanks
What is the height of your rig? In our opinion the bridge feature is a tremendous peace of mind - but doesn't RV life map it out for you and point out those bridges?
@@SwitchItUpLife Our rv's height is 11'3". Yes RV life lets us put in the height but the problem is you could lose your signal.
@@SwitchItUpLife By the way I did buy it and fitting it in my rig is not a problem. I found a spot high up on the windshield. My problem is I tested a bunch of destinations that I'm familiar with and one time in particular it took me on a dirt road which is a hiking trail. And other times it takes me far out of the way to go on major roads to get to places that are a 1/2 hour away.. I know the roads in this area and there's no reason I shouldn't be able to take an RV on those roads. I'm tempted to send it back. Do you have any problems like that ?
Yes we did get to the end of that song
Oh that's terrible lol 🤣
Great information. Thank you!😎👍🏼
You guys are great to watch from the uk….have you thought about touring the uk
I ended up using 3 different GPS units to do our trip. Garmin, Google Maps, and the RAM built-in map.
Is the Garmin the only trip planner you use? I use RV Trip Wizard and the RV Life app. Trying to decide if we should Switch It Up!
We have thee RV Trip Wizard and RV Life app as well --- just haven't got into the habit of using it yet. Right now my spreadsheet and Mr Garmin are what we use.....but I hear several people love the Trip Wizard, I am planning on planning the same trip both ways and see what fits me better.
how did you mount your garmin? Did you use the screw down mount?
No - our truck has an area in the middle of the dash that the garmin fits perfectly in. We actually attached a strip of velcro to it to help it not slide around.
I'm like Sheila. I do all the planning and my husband just drives. lol I use the big paper map book and my google maps on my phone together, especially when we had to divert from an accident on 95. Also use maps with Weather app to avoid bad weather. I would really like to have the Garmin 890, though.
It puts all the things in one little unit! Thanks for doing all the things!
Hi from the EMAHIZER’s!!
Hello Emahizer Crew!
That game looks like fun. What is it called? We really enjoy your videos.
Road Trip Trivia - thanks for watching
On our bucket list with a generator and potty jug.
Sheila will definitely tell you where to go! 😂😂😂😂. Good review on this GPS
You got that right!🤪
Just ordered the garment gps and dashcam from your link! What camera do you use on the dash to record for your YT videos? (And what is your link?)
That is covered under our camera gear video.. its the video of me in a BEAR head... lol...there is a link in the description.. it is called the Insta 360 onex2
Thanks for all you do
Seems like a really good GPS system
It really is - thanks for watching!
It looks like the Garmin 890 would be very useful!
We do enjoy ours for sure
What about doing what you use daily in your RV life.
Please Please Please
Hey Fran - can you give me an idea of what you are talking about? Inside or outside? Travel days or normal at the rig days? Just wanting to clarify before we head down that direction. Great idea just wanting to be sure. Thanks so much
thank you stay safe God Bless
Thank you appreciate you
Could you use the furrion backup camera and plug into the garmin rv 890?
Todd, I'm sitting in a hotel waiting to go pick our Valor up at 10 am. We have a 2021 Ram 3500 too. Thank you for the great review. I'm curious why ram doesn't do a partnership with Garmin for our standard GPS systems. This is a miss by the ram, as the trucks are designed to haul. I was hoping to avoid another screen. That's not going to be the case.
We just finished our first pull. Oh man, we could host a hilarious live chat. Our trip included a detour that we went around in circles three times. You name it; we were tested today.
