And that without the ridiculous price tag Dyson asks. Dyson only loses to Apple regarding outragenous price tags for their status instead of the products they make.

Kind of ridiculous that a company isn't ashamed of asking this price for an item probably made in the country that gave the world the V. I'd not buy it even if I could. There are good straighteners out there that do the same without the BS price tag.

I love the advice, also some constructive criticism, I personally like my hair nearly pin straight when I choose to flat iron it. Your end result just looks like a sleek blow out and not a true press. It’s still looks great though.

Agreed. This is what happens if you use 65 degrees and only go over it once, no smoothing serum. If I wanted my hair too look like a blow out I would do a blow out.

I'm glad I'm not the only one thought that, my old not at all fancy straightener gets a sleeker result on lower temps than this really expensive Dyson one.

    • @yvonaj3493

I think the key to sleek straight hair if you have curly hair is put extra moisture into your hair (for example leave warn castor oil in your hair before washing) and then let your hair air dry mostly, then blowdry when it's not soaking wet, as much as ucan and then go over it with a straightener for the necessary bits.

constructive criticism POV this is too puffy , i mean when i want to make the choice to straighten my hair I would do it when i want it straight and not puffy , there is a difference between regular hair volume and puffy hair volume , and I’m getting puffy volume vibes from this look but it still looks good on you but not everyone can pull it off

    • @anneko6842
      @anneko6842 3 роки тому +51

I straightened my hair religiously from 13-18 (it was pin-straight before that), no blowdrying, no heat protectant, used the straightener on damp hair. I also once found 17 split ends on a single hair at 18; maybe there was a connection.

Mell!! Happy Texture Tuesday. Although I've been commenting on the past videos, I'd like to say two things that I hadn't mentioned before:
    1. I thank you for reading, answering, and taking into consideration what we say on the comments. That's really awesome.
    2. I also want to thank you and Amanda for taking time to make these videos. I know this is a part of your job BUT I also know that, just like everyone else, you most definitely have your own life stuff and it must be hard to create content if you are ever not feeling at your best. Many many many people have felt alone during this pandemic. I have sometimes felt very sad. However, I want you to know the impact that you guys have made through this by being gentle to us, making us laugh, and promoting self-care through hair (which I also find wonderful). In a way, it's like having a friend from afar; and that's pretty cool.
Thanks once more and God bless.

lmaoooo fr though Mel, this was an incredible video! Being a curly girl my whole life I struggled to love and properly care for my hair. It took me a long time to realize that the two go hand in hand. I’d always straighten my hair and over time, as I did it less and less, I’d only use the flat iron the first day of straightening and then the túbi would hold (and re-smooth) my style for me. I straighten WAY less often now, bc thanks to you I have found a renewed passion for my curls and I’m so happy with how far they’ve come!!! I really want these Dyson tools though bc they’d change my LIFE 😭

Hi Mell!! I’ve found you a couple months ago while on my curly loving journey and you’ve helped me soooo much! My hair has never felt so healthy, to the point I have new baby curly hair growth 🎉🙌🏼
However my stylist used keratin in the front bits of my hair a few weeks ago and I’ve lost my curl pattern 🥺🥺. I know it’ll come back but I was wondering do you know any tricks or products to help get my curls back?

A Dominican hair stylist would not approve this process. That hair is gonna get frizzy the moment she steps out the door.

Have you tested out the blow dry brushes that are out there at all?? (The Revlon, drybar, etc) I’ve been debating one but I’m wondering about the heat damage from using those

Has anybody else spent their whole life cranking the heat setting up on their curling iron because they thought the hotter the iron the faster the curl, or is it just me?

🤣🤣🤣 I ❤ you ladies. Learning and laughing at the same time. And the rhymes are on 🔥 today. I'm one of those that doesn't blow dry first, never been able to. Gotta definitely do that next time. In my 2 yr curly journey, I've only straightened my hair once and my curls weren't too happy when they came back. I'm ready to try again. Thank you Guido seesters for these great vids.

I haven't flat ironed my hair in over a year 🎉. I had a previous addiction to my hair being straight 24-7. I'm afraid of 1. seeing my curly cut straight and 2. relapsing into my flat iron addicted ways. Great educational video though and as always nice to see your beautiful face Mell 💖.

Lol. I was in the same boat and a week ago I did a blow out to straighten with a brush and without the straightener for the first time in a year, and my hair looked so shiny and smooth. It grew and it’s almost all brand new so the shine was incredible. The next time I washed it, it went all back to curly again, without frizz or losing any waves 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@roselynmvm oh that's good to hear, I bet it was a huge visual transformation. Glad it all went back without any visable damage. I can tell by my imporved hair health. That if I did flat iron it, it would look much healthier and more shinny then before. My haircut on the other hand I dunno 🤭.

@@rachellep2581 I bet it would look great with the flat iron. But I wonder if then the curls would be affected. Not sure.

Mell your straight hair looks so so beautiful!!! Would you say that the lowest heat setting on the Dyson Corrale doesnt give any heat damage with one passing?
Would this Dyson Corrale be also not damaging for very fine low density damaged dry hair? I would really love to wear my curls straight sometimes but im afraid of heat damage after years of getting my hair healthy again with the curly girl method.I just dont want to ruin the progress :/ But do you think I could straighten it once a month or less without damage on the lowest heat setting? Oh I also have& could use the K18 mask..its supposed to be very good for not getting heat damage

I have long, thick, curly coarse hair. I've been doing this same process for the last 12 years and I'm done torturing myself. During the pandemic, I let my hair dry naturally with some diffusing and have been wearing it up all this time. What a relief and a revelation it's been. Despite the fact that I was able to achieve a nice silky 'pageant hair' look, I just can't do it anymore. Will no longer put myself through a hellish wash day spending 35 minutes trying to get all the moisture out, then flat ironing. And in the summer? It was like exercising in a sauna to dry my hair in the bathroom. What's the point in taking a shower when you're covered with sweat afterwards? Now I'm thinking about cutting my hair in a long pixie. If it looks good, it would change my life forever. BTW, Dyson products are made in China and if you look under the hood, they are not all that.

Are there any tips to get my curl pattern back? Thankfully it's just that one clump but it's in an inconvenient place :(
