Great video. Man I need a grass trap video bad. Especially the winter ticking the grass vs. Deep jig like presentation. I keep getting smoked by everyone in the boat.
I’ve been fishing a Spook for 50 years. 50 years ago I added split rings and sharpened/changed hooks. Probably don’t have any that aren’t 20-30 years old so I have no idea what I would need to do with a new one, lol. Sometimes I have to retire one when the hooks ware through the bodies.
I’m definitely not saying to go get a new one I’m with ya. I will have to get another chrome one because it’s turning to bone, and I broke one the other day on a dock maybe my first one ever to break. I was just kinda referring to all these so called tricks. Your probably like me you can make that thing dance if you want
Hey I just subscribed to your channel about 2 months ago and it is one of my favorites. So I have been going back to your older videos and watching. I got a question about throwing the sexy dog. Do u use a loopknot or tie a polmayr knot to the split ring? Thanks for all the videos they are very informative!
Man my favorite topwater ever love those things, sexy dog is the real deal, great video, and your absolutely right just throw it and you'll get good at it keep up the good work
Anyone else notice he is tied straight to the front eye (no split ring or loop knot). Don't Sexy Dawgs come with a split ring attached to the eyelet? Do you think he removes the split ring as it is just one more area for failure (especially when using braid with no stretch). Old Charlie Campbell (the spook master!) mentioned adding a split ring for more side to side action. Maybe that's only needed when using mono?
I've been throwing Spooks for years. I've been experimenting with using lighter braid with a floral carbon leader seems to me it has some benefits have you ever tried that?
Off topic: You were doing a video about site fishing and said you thought that the best color lens in your Costas for site fishing was……. What was that color?
Below 55 it starts getting sketchy and it depends on what whether it’s been cold for a long time or hot for a long time. That might be a question for another video. I’m ok work on it
Seems the more paint they lose the better they work. Should start painting them that way. 100% correct again Best time of the year is when they get on those baits
Andrew told Hallman he walks the dog backwards! I laughed so hard when Hallman agreed!

Top UA-cam channel, when I was Kaye’s up in the VA hospital after colorectal cancer surgery.. watched all the videos.
Great information keep it simple. What are your thoughts on your best colors. I try to keep it simple too. Thanks
Great advice Todd. That's how I got so good at throwing walking baits and topwater frogs. I just went out there and threw it all day long

@@toddcastledinefishing5924 Great bait! You're definitely fishing for the right fish when you're throwing it!
Thanks for the tips.
Do you replace split rings?
Thanks Todd! Love how you flat tell it like it is, no BS. Good stuff dude 👍 . Also wishing you and family a terrific Thanksgiving.

Palmour knot straight to the split ring

That slow motion of that bass acting like some kind of tarpon jumping is awesome. Top water fishing is something like a drug.
What about red or feathered trebles? Upgrade the split rings?
What net is that I want one loving that handle
Exactly right on any baits you have just keep throwing them . Thank you for sharing 👍
Good one Todd!! Been a while since I walked the dog, normally throw Zspook....
Tie it on the back eye and leave the treble on. GAME. CHANGER
How about the sexy dawg jr. would you still use 50lb. braid?
Well that answers a couple of ?'s
All set up ?'s related to top water
Last I knew you were still looking for the right rod in Lew's.
Thanks 👍
Awesome tip on this one… just throw it, I love it!!!

Mine didn’t
Telling it like is, straight up, no bs just do it, & I like it, thank you for that!🎣
Todd I couldn't see if you used braid to leader on that setup and if not, do you ever?
This cracked me up. I was wondering “What trick? Just do it.” Well…
I've been throwing Spooks for years. I've been experimenting with using lighter braid with a floral carbon leader seems to me it has some benefits have you ever tried that?
Fluro sinks use straight braid or mono
Standard knot or a loop knot?
Standard knot
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 Thank you!!
No issues of your braid tangling up on your braid?
Is Sean Bonds still fishing ?
Man…the first fish jumped like a tarpon! Simple but effective tip thanks

What was that color?
Sunrise silver it’s what we all use. I use wear them 100% of the time I fish. Every condition
What are those hooks?

Do you use a loop knot or straight to the eyelet?
Straight to the eyelet
One knocker vs original ,when to throw one over the other?
Does it matter if it’s 28 degrees outside or 95 degrees. Is it a bait you can use all year??

This video is like deja vu listening to my buddy Todd break down the walking bait deal. What is it with topwater clinicians named Todd?😂
Thanks for this! Fyi-winter sucks!
Seems the more paint they lose the better they work. Should start painting them that way.
100% correct again
Best time of the year is when they get on those baits
Practice makes perfect.
My favorite bait of all time
No split ring.
My hookups got better with braid on all my topwaters.
👍👍👍👍👍
Time makes you better? Nonsense give me the hack all the pros use!
That is the hack
