    In Australia they make the model with 2 nuts on the side and adjuster in between model UCO13gz.
    Also just checked your US site has them as well called the GCU04T1 kit .
    Maybe that one isn't in the shops yet worth checking to see if it is.

      Had no idea they made both models in the US! Thanks for the info. Here it is on Acme Tools

    Put a 16 inch bar/chain on my 14 36v Makita. Eats up fir and alder. Great for small jobs/limbs

    I have the 18v saw it has become my go to saw good for cleanup and to prep bigger logs for the big saws. Just4fun put the Milwaukee battery adapter in the Makita saw.
    It worked for all the batteries I tried till I got to the Big 12 amp hour battery
    It would come on with the big battery for about a second or two and then it shut down.
    I just use the 5 amp hour Makita batteries.
    It does lack power but it is a small saw so that is expected.

      The top handle 18v is my favorite saw, while it’s not very powerful, it’s one of the smallest chainsaws on the market and has an excellent variable speed trigger (unlike the Dewalt saws). It’s awesome for getting into tight spots.

    When I put on a new chain I like to put a little oil on the chain after I put the chain on. Not necessary but it makes sure it has a little oil before it gets pumped to it

    On the 18 volt top handle saw. If you hold the button down that is a high power mode.
    Do the 36 and the 40 have that option also. The light will go from green to yellow when you're in that mode. I didn't even know it for the first month or two when I had the saw and then I was watching
    Another reviewer that had pointed that feature out. Went back read the manual and there was in black and white for everyone to read manuals are good for something.
    Another thing that I found on the battery operated saw was that you have to keep that chain adjustment housing clean or else that will suck up a lot of the power.

      I believe that feature is unique only to the top handles, the rear handles do not get it.

    Checked the 2022 Makita catalogue (Lithuanian one) and there are otherwise identical models with both types of tensioning mechanisms. It seems to me they've always been releasing the same thing in both variants (also with the top handle saws). In fact, they just released (April 2024) two more rear handle 40V chainsaw models in Japan and it seems the only difference between the two is, once again, that chain tensioning/cover thing. So basically you get what you prefer.

      buy more powerfull one chainsaw there is xgt with bolts, but you must use 8 ah battery than there will be no overheating or problems, works only 5 and 8 ah battery as they placed different

    Funny enough I would love to not mess around with the screech like the stilhl saws I use for work

    A different take. This Makita tool-less chain tensioning setup is the sought-after feature for me. Makes fast work of the necessary adjustment people otherwise tend to put off.

    5ah battery is thinner than 4ah because there are 20 18650 cells inside of 5.0ah one

    The XGT 40v pole saw is awesome to … I got the 8 FT one it’s all I needed for what I need it for … you should pick up one for your cleanup jobs 😉

      I actually got the Dewalt 20v XR on sale for $139, it’s been amazing and I am having a hard time justifying a more expensive one, lol.

      @@UltimateToolReviews yes it’s more expensive….. but the performance is great it cut a lot quicker…. I know what you mean I was looking at cheaper ones but they did not have the power and looked a bit cheaper build Quality

    I'm new to this stuff, so I'm wondering whether I could use a sharpening kit from Husqvarna, the one with the rollers. What file size should I choose?

    Question about the power button, just got saw yesterday and put together using your video. The power green light stays on for about 5 seconds and then goes out if you do not engage. My other Makita's stay on for about 30 seconds in between cuts whereas this one you need to push the power button again after 5 seconds because the green light goes out??? Not sure if this is a safety feature or I got a saw that is malfunctioning. I called Makita and did not get a satisfactory answer.

    • @UltimateToolReviews
      @UltimateToolReviews  9 місяців тому +2

      It’s a new and very annoying safety feature. I don’t like it.

    Do you have any idea if I were to buy the 12" version of the top handle saw, if I could replace the bar with a 14, or 16" bar and a longer chain? Reason I ask is there is a promo at a store to get the saw, charger, 4AH battery at a discounted price AND an extra 4ah battery but the deal only applies to the 12" version.

    • @mykalkoloff5467
      @mykalkoloff5467 7 місяців тому +1

      the saw body is the same for all of these, you're simply paying +20$ for each 2" of bar/chain length lol

      @@mykalkoloff5467 yeah I ended up grabbing the 12". Did a little winter camping trip and got to try it out last weekend! I'm pretty impressed with it.
