Costco Japan Sushi Taste Test

  • Costco Japan (and worldwide) has some amazing food but how is their sushi? Is it better because it’s in Japan? Peter and I try some and what you see may surprise you - it may even shock you!
NOTE: Costco’s maguro (tuna) is farmed so it doesn’t have a noticeably different taste - but it’s surprisingly okay tasting! It’s the first time I’ve ever eaten farmed maguro. Making sushi on such a large scale with a good taste is hard and Costco impresses.
    WHERE ARE WE? Costco Makihari

they used to have sushi offered at Costco in the Seattle area about 10 years ago. i guess it was a trial setup to see how it would go over . lasted for about a year and then they took it out. Probably did not sell enough to justify the waste and cost as day old sushi does not sell well.

japan is always nice & safe place, most citizens are polite & in order. but recently, i found it's hard to find. too many tourists with too little manners. chinese tourists for example. they have money, they can buy a lot of things, but unfortunately not attitude. they cut line, they litter, they spit, they talk so loud and they barely respect other people (no, im not being sarcastic or racist, but sadly it's true). one day i went to disneyland, we queued like other visitors did, then suddenly a tour leader of a group of chinese tourists just cut the line, jumped to the front gate and brought his group inside. happened twice, one with chinese group, the other one was indonesian. this, didnt frowned upon. all the japanese who queued were so angry, they shouted in disbelief, rage & exasperation. that was the first time i heard bunch of japanese peoples shouted in public. sadly, there was nothing they could do as the related persons didnt even bother to turn, moreover felt ashamed.
