  • It’s time for another Tokyo midnight snack run and I’m headed to a gyudon Beef bowl restaurant nearby. It may be something other than gyudon so I’ll figure it out when I get there. I hope you’re hungry! (I am.)
    Where did I eat at?

    Hi John, Vince here. I have a great laugh when you and John have a go at each other. That's what mate's (friends for you American's) do. So keep it up as it really shows your true self, no 'fakeness' in both your personalities.

    Hi John, watching from Guatemala... I travelled to Japan last year, i've been thinking in coming back every single day :) We used to watch your videos in my Japanese class, loved the Only in Japan channel since the beggining but when I started watching the Go channel, I can't stop thinking how much the world needs to see you in a show similar to Bourdain's show. Will continue watching your videos in UA-cam with until then!

      Guatemala!! Ah, I do miss Antigua. I studied Spanish at a school there for 1 month & homestay in 2003. It was also very comfortable living inside Antigua. (But I forgot a lot of my Spanish because I never use it!) thank you so much for watching the series for so long Carolina! -John

    Originally when I found your videos I thought you were a little cringe-y, but as I continued watching I realised how natural and honest your actions were. You may come off cringe-y to those people that haven't watched many of your videos, but now it's what I come back for. Your personality is so charming and it really adds a unique quality to all of your videos. Keep being yourself John!

    Heh, I've been (trying) to diet since late last year when my family decided we're going to Japan by the end of March... because I know how much food I'll be eating there. :P
    Last time, some 11 years ago, I went we also had this mentality that food was healthier, that we wouldn't be eating too much, blah blah... dude, I came back some 3Kgs fatter. :P It was delicious food every single day, no matter how luxurious or shabby the place we were.
    You get a bento on a small market, delicious. You try some weird new restaurant with all you can eat bread. Delicious. You are in a small port town that is absolutely empty apart from you, in an really old looking restaurant that's empty aside from you... delicious. I can't remember a single thing that I ate there that I didn't like... though I kinda stayed away from natto. xD

    Yummy video! Love eggs in Japan. Everyone gets sketched out about eating raw eggs. There's a farmer that moved to Hawaii from Japan and he raises chickens here that is safe enough to eat their eggs raw. Nice haircut! Thanks always for the awesome videos and live streams.

    • @susie2251
      @susie2251 5 років тому

      People like to think that Japanese eggs are safe because of a cleanliness reason or because Japan’s farms are more natural or something similar. The reality is that all hens in Japan receive antibiotics in order to prevent salmonella infections. No judgement but it’s definitely not an an all natural, organic raised egg industry. Culturally, Japanese people like raw or runny eggs and so regulations require the antibiotics. And that’s the reason you shouldn’t eat raw eggs in other countries. Not because they are dirty but salmonella is potentially present on eggs without antibiotics.

    I love all of your live streams. ( Even though I catch most of them after the fact because I live in the USA). I absolutely love seeing Japan at night like that. I was wondering because most Americans are so afraid of raw eggs these days, so in Japan you don't have to worry about eating raw eggs? By the way John, don't worry we love you just the way your are.

    When I was living in Tokyo, I would eat at Matsuya at least once a week. Usually more than once. I would always get the same thing. Omori gyudon and miso soup combo, and I would also buy a raw egg. It was cheap, tasty, and filling. I didn't even know you were "supposed" to mix up the egg. I just thought of it like TKG, and mixed up the egg. Before I put the egg on it though, I would eat some. It gave me more room in the bowl to mix it up, allowed the egg to cover more of the meat and rice, and it had a better (imo) meat/rice ratio so that I could get some egg covered meat and rice with each bite. There is something about beef and/or rice combined with raw egg that just match so well such as gyudon like this, sukiyaki, or TKG.

    Very filling, very yummy midnight snack. Missed the livestream, tho.
    Go to Japan and hope to lose weight? Haha, I gained 3 kg in the 9 days I was there last. (There's something more appetizing eating with chopsticks than with knife & fork. I learned the same way of finishing off all the rice to the last bit, like you did here, not in Japan, though, but in China.) Peter? I derive vicarious outrageous fun watching and listening to you razz each other in a high-level repartee whenever you do things together.
