Only foreign airlines give passengers a snack or meal appropriate to the time of day and Lufthansa always goes to the head of the line by also serving free, alcoholic beverages; even on a 1-1/2 hour flight from Frankfurt to Sofia, Bulgaria.
This video also shows the ins and outs of easy to get around Sofia Airport (also referred to as Letishte Sofia-Vrazhdebna - not that travelers can spit out that mouthful). Clean, fast Customs with no forms to fill out, helpful personnel, ATMs, food venues, good Duty Free and a small but excellent Business Class Lounge!

We visited Sofia and some of Bulgaria in 2014. I think we flew out of Romania, though. So we never saw this airport. Looks pretty good!

How do you even remember what years you visited? My mind is blank. Have a cheat sheet to look at if I really need to remember but otherwise the brain is empty

@@SheilaSimkin you're right. We created a spreadsheet with all the trips from 1983 to 2023. But I can locate the year and month for most trips in my head.

Hi Sheila, wow, great video, thank you again. Enjoyed your photos on the Lufthansa 320Bus. You will see soon, if you have not already, the new Sharklets that are being put on Lufthansa's fleet of Airbus A320-200's. Be on the watch for them and most other Airbus 320 operators. Enjoyed your reviews on your hotel, that breakfast looked terrific!
Anyways, see ya on the next one, glad you both are doing good, say hi to Steve. Dan and Char

Lucky you! Are any of those areas affected by the Soviet-Ukraine conflict? Have always enjoyed Bulgaria, especially Plovdiv. Thanks for your nice words and taking time to visit my channel. Best regards, Sheila

Sheila Simkin I do not think that there is a problem for the Ukraine.I love your channel, I have healthy envy that you can travel both :)

AeroFanHD Thanks again. But remember, we are OLD! When young, it was not easy to travel with family, work and not enough money. That being said, I've met people who travel on so little money that it is amazing. Sort of depends what is important to you. :)

+AeroFanHD I think most of Ukraine is relatively safe. Just have to stay away from the areas occupied by the Russian separatists. Big cities like Kiev, Lviv and Odessa are probably the safest of all. Outside the major cities very little English is spoken. Might be good to brush up on some Ukrainian if you are going to be visiting some of the smaller towns and villages. I really want to visit Ukraine in the next year or two. I am spending three nights in Sofia in May as well as visiting some other Eastern European cities. It should be a fantastic trip.

Ok...I will look at it again. The Bulgaria video was very well done. I don't want to seem mean-spirited about the ORD video and I will advise...24 hours please

Can I ask how you managed to withdraw funds? I am assuming a cash card that is loaded with US dollars or Euros and when you withdraw you pay a conversion fee. Bulgaria have a closed currency as do a lot of other countries in the region and it's next to impossible to get local currency before travelling there.

+savedbyjesusblood If you have an ATM with sufficient funds in your checking account or wherever it is linked to, just go to an ATM and follow the instructions. Yes, there is a fee added by banks but the convenient is worth it. Thanks for visiting my channel and best regards, Sheila

I don't think it was the worst video. If you don't like it don't watch it.
