    Airplane travel is usually not a highlight of traveling but if you stick to one airline and save your miles, you too can fly first class -- FOR FREE! Plan ahead and if you can make it happen, try for Singapore Airlines or Lufthansa.
    Lufthansa has a dedicated off-site First Class Lounge that is like dying and going to heaven. They just opened a new First Class Lounge inside the Frankfurt Terminal that is equally luxurious. Oh...to be rich...never mind the famous...I'd settle for filthy rich! But since that's not to be, save your miles.

    Sheila - you are the Suze Orman of airline travel. Her catchphrase is "Save your money," and yours is "save your miles"! I was lucky enough to experience the Lufthansa first class terminal last week. It is truly amazing! And the only reason I was there was because of miles! So, you have great advice! :-)

      If memory serves, the highlight of the first class terminal was a drive across the tarmac to the plane where we were welcomed on board 🌈 Talk about a movie star moment.

    I finally had a chance to look at all your Emirates videos and they look fantastic. Loved the way you cut and showed everythng from start to finish. Next time, it's Emerirates for me (if I have enough for free miles). Your videos are fantastic.

    @travelswithsheila I saw a video about this terminal and I had to watch some personal experiences, great that you made a video. Was lucky once to travel business with Delta to Atlanta, but no such a wonderful lounge. Lufthansa really beats some of the more exclusive airlines here. Wishing you more flights like these for you too come!

    @Howarddireito Perhaps, like you, that is why I always get excited when even in economy, Lufthansa offers free drinks, snacks and the flight attendants are usually pleasant. The crews seem to run in "bunches" on American carriers. Either a great crew, or one, as you said, who finds it a chore to fill a water glass. Que sera, sera...I guess. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Best regards, Travels With Sheila

    Thanks for the compliment. About using the UA Club, I should hope since since you have a First Class Ticket. Show your boarding pass from FRA at IAD along with your domestic ticket. They should let you in if you should both and hope you have a wonderful trip. Also, to get immediate status if you haven't yet done this, contact United and show them proof of what you have flown. Best regards.

    Dear Sheila,
    You missed the BAR with about 50 different whiskeys ! Amazing, I'll be there again in October, love the restaurant ( I believe still served by the Austrian company Do&Co ) . I had the luck to enjoy this terminal about 6 times.
    ...of course, upgrade vouchers and a batch full of airmiles
    BTW: You where flying with an A330 : First Class in a 1-2-1 config while the 747 upper deck ( which I prefer) has an 2-2 config at LH.

    @mdusablo Lufthansa First Class Lounge has it's own security! Did you ever? I guess they think that if people really can pay the price (unlike me who uses miles for a free ticket), they need lots of extra pampering. Thanks for watching and commenting. Travels With Sheila

  • @SheilaSimkin
    @SheilaSimkin  14 років тому

    @mdusablo When they took us to the First Class Lounge in a separate building, you went through their own security both entering and leaving. Lufthansa now has a new First Class Lounge inside the terminal and you go through the Airport's security just getting over to it, and I think, go through Lufthansa's security when you leave. But I'm not sure about that.

    I love Lufthansa, best European airline.

    • @SheilaSimkin
      @SheilaSimkin  6 років тому

      Lufthansa is an excellent airline and my choice for all European travel. I would fly them from Chicago but the United upgrades are important; the only way we usually can sit in Business. This First flight was an exception. Too many miles are necessary now for a free ticket. Thanks for watching and best regards, Sheila

  • @SheilaSimkin
    @SheilaSimkin  10 років тому

    Thanks to Joanne for the helpful information about flying. She is so right in her comments about paying for Business Class or First Class tickets. However, whenever I look at First Class for example, from Chicago to Frankfurt, the fare would be $15,000 roundtrip. $5,000? I only wish... Happy traveling!

  • @SheilaSimkin
    @SheilaSimkin  13 років тому

    @Robburtjuh It depends on whether or not it is a long haul flight or not. We just flew Frankfurt to Mumbai and LH uses a 747 with upper deck for first class. Seats are totally flat bed and the food was wonderful. Having trouble with my I-Mac today but if I get the software problem fixed, will put up the LH First class one first. Have a wonderful trip. P.S. Nothing like FREE first class tickets! Happy New Year, Travels With Sheila

  • @SheilaSimkin
    @SheilaSimkin  14 років тому

    @UncleBigShot For sure...that's why I hoard them with loving care. Been there and done it. Sat in the back for excruciating hour-after-hour and would still do if that's the only way I could travel. Best, Travels With Sheila

  • @SheilaSimkin
    @SheilaSimkin  13 років тому

    @yoto5951 It completely depends on what leg and what country you are trying to fly to or within. Go onto your American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, etc. sites and look for the mileage charts. It may take some surfing and creative thinking but you'll come up with what you need. OR, call the airline and ask! Let your fingers do the walking. Best regards, Travels With Sheila

  • @SheilaSimkin
    @SheilaSimkin  15 років тому

    Hope you do too! Save your airline miles. That's the only way I could ever fly first class.

  • @SheilaSimkin
    @SheilaSimkin  11 років тому

    If you have a United Airlines Visa card and make at least one purchase a year, the miles are extended. Or, fly once during the year and the same applies. Otherwise, yes, all the miles would expire within a certain period of time. I think all the airlines do this now.

    Hi there, I would like to ask if the miles you were collecting have an expiry date? I have miles with Emirates but they all expire 3 years after you get them which makes it harder to save.

    I am a Mileage Plus Premier Executive member (Gold status within the Star Alliance) and like UA’s frequent flyer program. I unfortunately cannot say the same about its services. How would you explain why most of the flight attendants of U.S. flagged airlines are inelegant, rude and seem to be tired of their jobs? LH’s service in all classes much better than UA’s, where Economy Class passengers not even get a breakfast in flights to Europe. Nice video! I also use my UA miles with other airlines.

    Hi...Enjoying your uploads from your travels...Especially enjoyed Spitzbergen, hope to get there one day.
    I have a question you may know the answer to...Just about to switch alligence from Silver One World ff member to Start flying with Stat Alliance.
    I travel LH first class FRA-IAD connecting UA IAD-SFO also in First on my next flight (not award). I know about the first class terminal in FRA, but can I use the UA club lounge in IAD even though I don't have *A status yet?
    Hope u can help. Thx

    @mdusablo When you arrive at the FC-Terminal a personal assistant takes care of your luggage, will guide you thru security (the terminal has its own 2 security lines) , you pass a samll duty-free shop , than you are IN. He/She has your passport and ticket and picks you up in time, guide you thru border control finally in the smart car (Porsche Cayenne,Mercedes S-Class) which allows you to arrive shortly before doors are closing.
    It is really an own world
