Yes, this is the first track accepted by their label that they wrote and arranged themselves. Not a bad start as most bands would like something this good in their archives. Over the Covid break Kanami has been writing like a mad thing and now has close to a hundred tracks ready to use for the next album or three.

Kanami, Akane and Misa had all worked with each other some prior to Band Maid. Probably why they had no problem clicking together after joining. Also though it isn't always easy to hear, but Kanami never stops riffing in most songs. She just does it in the background to support the vocals.

Too bad about the copyright. Quite a few BM covers out there and Kanami has said she loves it when their songs get covered so don't understand why the strike. During the 2016 to 2017 time period they had several songs with the pop punk vibe...although the next song in the order is Non Fiction Days...which is more of a straightforward rocker with another good solo. Thrii launched Band-Maid down the rock road, Alone was the song that started the dynamic duo of Kanami and Miku writing the songs we know now! Great song, Kanami's solo is fire 🔥!
This song marks one of the most important moments for Band Maid, their first song written all on their own! From here they would be in charge of their creative process giving us the evolution that led them to where they are today! The Kanami solo... ah yes, this one is a "Jesus Christ" solo for me, probably my favorite solo from Kanami, it's hard to choose because it's Kanami and fantastic solos is her domain, but for sure this was one of the first that really hit me hard, and like you said, It's a long one! 😀 Like you said this has Blink 182, Sum 41 vibes and i love it, as i also loved those bands growing up! I would like to suggest 2 more songs to add to the list "Order" and "Matchless Gum". If you cant find videos of it please feel free to ask me and i will deliver! Thank you GG!
I'm not sure about my memory, but I feel that Saiki made a request to express a woman who is vulnerable to Kobato. Saiki wanted a song that expresses the weaknesses of women, as the songs up to that point were about strong women. All of them are involved in the songwriting that Kanami composes.
As of 2013, we've no longer been "Alone". We have five wonderful friends who continue to spark our mind, nourish our soul and fire our spirit. I know it's corny, but I couldn't help it! 😏
Like your detailed assessment of the band. So many just waffle on or don’t say much but you analyse each aspect like picking up Akane’s double drum. Her speed and variability are top notch. Kanami’s solos are short and sweet but really tie in with the song. Really compose that 3 to 4 minute song to a tee. Keep up the great reviews. Maid Mondays..bring it on...
Excellent analysis / review once again Guitar Gent- Any Band-Maid is awesome. One song video you must review is WE ARE from the group ALDIOUS (just under 2 million views). If liked the group Mary's Blood and Lovebites then you'll definitely like the group Aldious and specifically the song / video WE ARE.
Good review GG. Not one of Band-Maids most heaviest songs but, one of my favorite nonetheless. This song in particular I feel is when Saki really, really, really came into her own in development vocally in terms of gaining and building more and more confidence into becoming and into the great front persons of any band out there.
this was before they were writing their own stuff, they were on an Indie label this was their more poppy side from the writers at the label, after this one they wrote for themselves
I think if I remember right Saiki finds it quite hard to sing Alone as the song doesn't really suit her vocal registry, as it was early on in Kanami's song writing she never took that into consideration, after that she always gets Saiki's input now to make sure it suits her.
I must say though, Saiki did a wonderful job with it. I love how she sounds on this, her emotional vulnerability right there. And the tune and arrangement so engaging. I'm not surprised this was the breakthrough that made management finally sit up and take notice and start believing in their ability to create entire songs.
Well let me tell you about a story about a group named *BAND-MAID* A group of lovely girls who played rock music that thought was dead And then one day *BAND-MAID* went to the record producers And the next thing you know they started writing on their own *Alone* that is the first song they wrote on their own Well the next thing you know *BAND-MAID* is now and free To write their own music as they shouted out with glee They said *Domination* is where you oughta be And they pack their up gear to make history...
I want to see the cover so bad 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Yes.. as you wish, a longer solo.. 😆😆😆 She did it in *"unfair game"*too. Great riff, great bass line and perfect drum fill as always from akane. Sadly no better live recording and no MV, just spotify 😅 And the other one is *"turn me on"* and it starts with the duel between misa and kanami 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Hey recently discovered your channel. Nice to see intelligent reviews. A few suggestions for listening: Headphones President ( Stand in the World is great track to start with), more Mary's Blood!, if you like harsh vocals try Dazzle Vision ( Second is a good one). If you want to explore some different Japanese music try Maki Oyama she does what she calls Acco-metal( acoustic metal, you will love her voice)., also check out Kao=S (Amrita is great track) the singer is also a swords woman of very high caliber. Fell free to contact me via Dedman Studios on FB if you want to talk music :D Stay well.
The key was too low for Saiki at the start part, and Kanami admitted that she didn't know about vocal key at the time she wrote this song. After this song, Mincho is always imagining Saiki's singing when she writes songs (P_O)🕊💕
I was irritatedly remembering a few minutes ago how somebody said Band-Maid was "too mainstream." What's wrong with mainstream? "It's formulaic and predictable with no creativity." Which is ridiculous because you never know WHAT Band-Maid is going to do - unlike the groups that guy preferred which keep (very competently, but no more so than B-M) plowing the same narrow furrow over and over again.
I feel like that definition of mainstream is mainly wrong, only applies to extremely generic charts friendly pop music. Stairway to Heaven is mainstream!
@@stevehall5128 The term mainstream like the term diva is no longer relevant. With each genre splitting into several different sub-genres you can't be that specific. That is why I pay no attention to these people. That is why Band Maid has made their own genre. Also I don't know who this person listens to, most likely metal of some kind. But I hate to tell them, metal has become "mainstream" by their own definition.
Saiki is maybe my least favorite of the girls, (Misa is the most) but I must admit she is the main player of this team, and in this song she shines and kills.
Do not regenerate the song continuously for a long time, but stop every 20 seconds or so to talk about the review. This will make it easier to be interpreted as a fair use citation. In other words, as with the citation rules for text, citing the whole text together is not preferred, and dividing it into fragments and reviewing each evaluation is equivalent to copyright citation in text, and running the whole thing in sequence is not preferred. For these reasons, many music review services frequently stop in the middle of a song. This also protects the original work, as you need to purchase it to get the whole song.
Even though you comment over the recordings as they play, you could also redact a few seconds here or there of the songs so its not feasible to get a full copy from your upload. That might help protect you a bit more also.
@@akaalexanderking If you don't want to stop, there is also the option of rewinding. After you have spoken your review, rewind to before you speak. This will keep some of the continuity of the music, but exclude it from the full match analysis of the song. This also needs to be done every 20 seconds or so.

During the 2016 to 2017 time period they had several songs with the pop punk vibe...although the next song in the order is Non Fiction Days...which is more of a straightforward rocker with another good solo. I'm enjoying the chronological order! It is interesting to see how they evolved and get your perspective. Oh...one of my favorite solos as well and the transition into the solo is very well done.
I'm thinking the same thing. Why him? Lots of other covers have been MAID and are posted as we type. We may need to call upon the great Vladimir to investiBREAKINGNEWgate.
I'm confident I might be able to unlock it guys. It happened to me once with Royal Blood as well, completely random when I had at least 3-4 on the channel already
Like you said this has Blink 182, Sum 41 vibes and i love it, as i also loved those bands growing up!
I would like to suggest 2 more songs to add to the list "Order" and "Matchless Gum". If you cant find videos of it please feel free to ask me and i will deliver!
Thank you GG!
Thanks Jorge! Agreed, this definitely deserves a long "Jaaayysus Christ" 😂
This song is i would say the true opening song for their debut album, Just Bring It even though it's on the Brand New Maid EP.
Big milestone for sure
My joint number one Band-maid song alongside with Choose Me, I cant seperate the two :)
🔥🎸🤘
Choose Me is Pop Punk gold
Understandably so 😁
Akane!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
🤘🏻🤘🏻
I'm not sure about my memory, but I feel that Saiki made a request to express a woman who is vulnerable to Kobato. Saiki wanted a song that expresses the weaknesses of women, as the songs up to that point were about strong women. All of them are involved in the songwriting that Kanami composes.
Thanks for the info!
These Teaching Reactions are Excellent! Plus you are a fan of Band-Maid so we are Family!
Glad to hear that, happy to share my limited knowledge with you guys!
Maid Monday's make me happy!
Me too! 😁
#MaidMondays 🤘
MISA MISA MISA! "Alone" released Valentines Day 2016 Love it
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
yeah!!!Iove this song so much!!!
Absolutely brilliant!
As of 2013, we've no longer been "Alone". We have five wonderful friends who continue to spark our mind, nourish our soul and fire our spirit. I know it's corny, but I couldn't help it! 😏
Fair enough Tom 😁
Guitar solo
'nuff said
Pretty sure Pop Punk was a huge influence, particularly on Akane. It sneaks into tons of songs.
Another top-5 kanami solo and akane being half-gorilla the whole song through
Such a good one
Like your detailed assessment of the band. So many just waffle on or don’t say much but you analyse each aspect like picking up Akane’s double drum. Her speed and variability are top notch. Kanami’s solos are short and sweet but really tie in with the song. Really compose that 3 to 4 minute song to a tee.
Keep up the great reviews. Maid Mondays..bring it on...
Thanks Jim, glad you enjoyed!
Good one! I haven't seen this vid in a long time....
Thanks Jim, great song!
🤘🤘❤🤘🤘 MISA MISA MISA!!!! 🤘🤘
Fantastic!!!!! 🤗❤✌
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Excellent analysis / review once again Guitar Gent- Any Band-Maid is awesome. One song video you must review is WE ARE from the group ALDIOUS (just under 2 million views). If liked the group Mary's Blood and Lovebites then you'll definitely like the group Aldious and specifically the song / video WE ARE.
Noted, thanks!
Good review GG. Not one of Band-Maids most heaviest songs but, one of my favorite nonetheless. This song in particular I feel is when Saki really, really, really came into her own in development vocally in terms of gaining and building more and more confidence into becoming and into the great front persons of any band out there.
Sometimes you don't need heavy to be great 😁
this was before they were writing their own stuff, they were on an Indie label this was their more poppy side from the writers at the label, after this one they wrote for themselves
This is the first one they did themselves, right?
@@akaalexanderking yes
I think if I remember right Saiki finds it quite hard to sing Alone as the song doesn't really suit her vocal registry, as it was early on in Kanami's song writing she never took that into consideration, after that she always gets Saiki's input now to make sure it suits her.
Makes sense, one of those typical things that get better with time in a band
I must say though, Saiki did a wonderful job with it.
I love how she sounds on this, her emotional vulnerability right there.
And the tune and arrangement so engaging. I'm not surprised this was the breakthrough that made management finally sit up and take notice and start believing in their ability to create entire songs.
Well let me tell you about a story about a group named *BAND-MAID*
A group of lovely girls who played rock music that thought was dead
And then one day *BAND-MAID* went to the record producers
And the next thing you know they started writing on their own
*Alone* that is the first song they wrote on their own
Well the next thing you know *BAND-MAID* is now and free
To write their own music as they shouted out with glee
They said *Domination* is where you oughta be
And they pack their up gear to make history...
No turning back 🤘🏻
I want to see the cover so bad 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes.. as you wish, a longer solo.. 😆😆😆
She did it in *"unfair game"*too. Great riff, great bass line and perfect drum fill as always from akane. Sadly no better live recording and no MV, just spotify 😅
And the other one is *"turn me on"* and it starts with the duel between misa and kanami 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Don't worry Jim, I'll make it sure to get it out the in one way or another 😁
Hey recently discovered your channel.
Thanks Ron, adding these to the list!
The key was too low for Saiki at the start part, and Kanami admitted that she didn't know about vocal key at the time she wrote this song. After this song, Mincho is always imagining Saiki's singing when she writes songs (P_O)🕊💕
Yeah, at the beginning that's tricky for any band
The beginning. The Maids can take any genre and turn it on its head and make it their own. What's the genre? It's Band Maid. Nuff said.
I was irritatedly remembering a few minutes ago how somebody said Band-Maid was "too mainstream." What's wrong with mainstream? "It's formulaic and predictable with no creativity."
Which is ridiculous because you never know WHAT Band-Maid is going to do - unlike the groups that guy preferred which keep (very competently, but no more so than B-M) plowing the same narrow furrow over and over again.
@@thunderchild7137 Agreed on all points and well-said.
Saiki is maybe my least favorite of the girls, (Misa is the most) but I must admit she is the main player of this team, and in this song she shines and kills.
It's not pop, it's called rock 'n roll. Which is a much missed part of music today with all the trash out there.
Amen 😁
Do not regenerate the song continuously for a long time, but stop every 20 seconds or so to talk about the review. This will make it easier to be interpreted as a fair use citation. In other words, as with the citation rules for text, citing the whole text together is not preferred, and dividing it into fragments and reviewing each evaluation is equivalent to copyright citation in text, and running the whole thing in sequence is not preferred. For these reasons, many music review services frequently stop in the middle of a song. This also protects the original work, as you need to purchase it to get the whole song.
I know, sadly I can't really enjoy a first listen if I don't get the flow of the song :(
@@akaalexanderking Maybe edit in discussion breaks afterwards to create the same effect without interrupting your own first listen?
Even though you comment over the recordings as they play, you could also redact a few seconds here or there of the songs so its not feasible to get a full copy from your upload. That might help protect you a bit more also.
Thanks for the ideas Thomas :)
@@akaalexanderking If you don't want to stop, there is also the option of rewinding. After you have spoken your review, rewind to before you speak. This will keep some of the continuity of the music, but exclude it from the full match analysis of the song. This also needs to be done every 20 seconds or so.
Better than todays chaos. Not only the fast songs are chaos, but even the slower ones...no flow at all...with all progressive writing
I personally love the new stuff. I find it very interesting but definitely a bit different than Alone. Look forwatd to getting GGs take on some of the Unseen World stuff when he gets to it.
@@falconsooner Well, after hearing fantastic stuff, up to World Domination, Conqueror was a total mess to me. Unseen World is much better, because it at least has power, but still much a mess of experiments... ;) Some songs start great, then suddenly Kanami put some weird stuff in the middle. I know many people love it...
@@morganolsson1993 It is definitely a matter of personal taste. I really like CQ and it has some of my favorite songs. Page is my 2d favorite BM ballad behind Daydreaming. Liberal is an underated rocker. Flying High is a hidden gem. Then of course Bubble, Blooming, Rinne and Endless story are great. But I know a lot of fans don't care for CQ as a whole. Definitely the album with the most divided opinion among the fanbase. But I think it works very well sandwiched between WD and UW. The thing I appreciate about BM is their albums are all different sounding.
Very curious to listen to those as well 😁
@@morganolsson1993 I like CQ. Flying High is a gem. Catharsis has an interesting lead and rhythm experimentation. Page and At The Drop of a Hat showcases what they can do when they add an acoustic guitar to the mix. Azure and Liberal are bangers. MISA's baseline in Liberal is catchy.
