Very impressive. Lot's of pressure focused to a very small area. Nice slow motion replay. I think the original bypass you found cleverly hidden under the rubber stopper is a more discrete way to get in there, but nice to see the Ramset come out and destroy something. 👏👍🔓

I wonder if it'd be funny to see what the Ramset could do fired right into that rubber stopper bypass...?

It’s now a lifetime member of the Ramset “Club”
They hardened but not tempered the rod, but with the other inbuilt deficiencies it makes little difference, another great video, pity about the technical difficulties:)

I wonder how many thieves are buying ramsets after seeing these videos. I also wonder if shooting at locks with firearm calibers like .357 or 5.56 NATO would have similar results. The shock of a concentrated, high speed impact from the ramset is so catastrophic for locks that I can't imagine that a small and incredibly fast round like a 5.56 wouldn't do some serious damage. I also would love to see how much more effective armor penetrating rounds are on hardened steel locks than plain FMJ rounds. I think it's time Lock Picking Lawyer does a collaboration video with Demolition Ranch to answer these questions.

I did not expect the bar to shatter in multiple pieces!! I think their heat treat methods are to blame for this. They may have quenched the bar to harden it but I don’t think they then tempered it.

I doubt it would have made much difference, but a more accurate test would be to have it braced against something with more flexiblity than the floor when striking it. Steering wheels usually have some give to them and would absorb some of the impact.

  • @joeytgolf

When I saw you had it sitting on the Arms, with the Ramset spot being in the middle, which was elevated, I had figured that if it broke, something like the flying pieces would happen. Happy to see I was right, still fun to watch.

Conclusion: less secure than having a manual transmission.

ABUS , has a steering lock called the Carblock 73 Granit. It's made of solid steel. Looks far superior to anything made by the "Club". Only problem is, I haven't seen one for sale in America. But if I ever go to Europe, I'm going to get my hands on one.

The slide hammer exploit seems more plausible to me given that it would be a little less messy overall but great demostration of the poor quality materials, on another note have you consider doing videos of common brute force atacks on doors, and the features in a door lock that makes it good or bad? thanks for the videos :)

Have you ever tried a high velocity ramset (one without an internal piston) against locks? I've got one of those laying around but I honestly lack the balls to use it against anything that isn't a solid, flat surface.
Don't want to end up guarding some random door mumbling "I used to be a lock picker like you, but then I took a hardened steel bolt to the knee." whenever someone comes by.
