    I mentioned on Harry's channel before that this is a great lock, but it's a double edged sword. By using a visibly nice lock on a covered trailer, it makes it appear you have something very valuable inside that is worth the effort. Be sure to reinforce the trailer door locks as well, cuz those have now become the weak point.

    • @davedavenport8176
      @davedavenport8176 2 роки тому +18

      Well your statement has a whole lot of validity to it. And not just for trailers. I do agree that you definitely want to beef up the door and lock on the door.
      With that said the same thoughts can be applied to a storage locker. I once had a unit broke into that they came through the top. Then un screwed a panel from the inside of my unit into an empty unit.
      It was discussed that my lock 🔐 that was a very heavy duty Master lock that had a high security rating because of false pins was what drew attention to my unit. I had four unit’s with them all connected. So all 4 doors had the same type of master lock.

    I have a similar lock for my snowmobile trailer. One thing that I do (and was recommended by the manufacturer) that I think would work in your case too is to hook the safety chains BEFORE putting it into the ball hitch and then twist that piece a couple of times to take the slack up on the safety chains, then attach it. The chains will now be tighter and not hang as low and make it tougher for someone to just connect some chains to your dangling chains. Try it out... curious if it works with that design hitch and lock.

      Or a shorter truck with a drop hitch and the ball installed upside down. Quick trip to Walmart at 11pm and a big wrench and you can steal it regardless of your trucks height. But like he said, the vast majority of people who steal stuff are just looking for the easiest thing to steal and wouldn't go through any extra effort. He said keep honest people honest, I prefer to think of it as keeping lazy people honest. And most thieves are lazy.
