I have a question I hope I can get some help I'm new to all this mini bike stuff and I'm highly interested in learning more about it I have a Mega Moto 80 with a 212cc predator engine non hemi with a 12 tooth clutch and a 75 tooth rear sprocket I only removed the screw governor by but not the governor from the inside of the engine everything is stock my speed is 35mph I just ordered a 14 tooth clutch will I get more speed?
You will get more speed but don’t be scared to internally remove the governor especially the one in the crank shaft cheapest way to make your engine more peppy without throwing money at it and port the heads for better throttle response
@@09l806 probably another 5 mph cause you’re removing centrifugal weight so it revs higher also you don’t need that high of a rear end sprocket cause it’ll top out so a 60 tooth sprocket will be faster when you’re already rolling cause you’re going from 20 to 40 faster I felt this on my go kart i got a 58 with a 12 tooth sprocket and the feeling from going from 35 to 60 is unreal feels like I’m flying
I got a 212 hemi and I put a stage 2 kit which has a billit connecting rod and fly wheel and a 265 hot cam with 26 pound valve springs. I ported the head and of course fully deleted the governer. Also put a 22 mm mikuni carb to make the throttle installation easier cause I wouldn’t have to mess with the stock throttle linkage which I found complicated. It’s a direct linkage from gas pedal to carb so with all that it made the motor super responsive and putting that engine on my sub 200 lb go kart makes the thing fly. But I got two rear end sprockets ones a 58 tooth to go fast on the streets and 72 tooth sprocket to do donuts in my backyard the 58 sprocket goes up to 60 mph and the 72 sprocket goes up to 45 and I got a 12tooth clutch sprocket.
I have a stock BT200x mini bike. Right now I am hitting 26mph top speed with stock gearing. I am thinking of getting a 12 tooth clutch because straight chaining a big bike burns out the clutch. Do you think I could hit 30mph if I go from a 10 tooth clutch(26mph) to a 12 tooth clutch with stock jackshaft? I ride mostly street so if the acceleration is slightly slower I don't mind too much. Plus, after about 15mph the clutch is engaged anyway so It can't burn up then.
That will work, but it will definitely slow down acceleration. In a straight-chained bike, every tooth added to the clutch is like reducing the rear by 6 teeth. If the governor is not removed, just by doing that it will gain quite a few miles per hour. Check out my Playlist on the CT200U-EX. It will apply to your bike ua-cam.com/video/X0SmAZJ6qW8/v-deo.html
@@Black66 I would actually really like to add a torque converter to my BT200x but it requires cutting the frame, raising the engine, and buying a 5/8 adapter.
@@WhiskersTheFish No cutting the frame needed.Super easy with a riser mount. A torque converter is perfect for a stock 196. That way you still have the top end without sacrificing the low-end torque. Check out this video ua-cam.com/video/aBceFczqdo4/v-deo.html

You definitely could throw on a smaller sprocket. Check out the kart videos on this channel. We got the kart to almost 70 playing with gearing. ua-cam.com/video/PMOjyg08NII/v-deo.html
Depending on the length of the chain and the tensioner, there have been quite a few situations where I didn't have to add or subtract chain. If I do, need to break chain, I just break out my trusty chain breaker. It makes quick work of shortening chain.
Hey can anybody tell me whats the best set up for my mb200 minibike it has a 11 tooth stock clutch and a 50 tooth rear sprocketnpretty sure its not the best set uo as im only getting about 43 to 44 miles moh on a 224 cc predator engine any ideas on a better clutch sprocket set up for more speed and acceleration?
Torque converters have more mass and offer a degree of resistance, but have the obvious benefits of ratio changing from low to high speed. Straight chain clutch setups have lighter mass and simplicity. Considering a desired speed of 50 to 60 MPH, if you were building a strictly street bike, would you prefer the torque converter or centrifugal clutch straight chain setup?
It depends on the weight of the bike. On the bigger bikes like the CT200U-EX I like the torque converter. Especially with a built 212 On a smaller bike like a Mega Moto 80 or an Azusa bike I like a straight chain. The bikes are small and light enough that with a straight chain you can get plenty of low speed power and top speed.
@@Black66 : Are the smaller, lightweight bikes stable at higher speeds in excess of 50 and 60 mph? In your experience with a variety of bikes at high speeds, what do you think is the best choice for a fast street bike; the larger and heavier bikes with longer wheelbase or a smaller and lighter bike? Lighter bike with extended wheelbase?
@@donkeyhole2782 I like the Mega Moto 80 extended frame with the street tires for stability at high speeds. That is a smooth riding bike. The Doodlebug is realy stable at high speeds also. The Azusa bike is harder to ride at high speeds. The rake of the forks make it really darty . Its kinda hard to ride. For a big Bike The CT200U-EX is surprisingly stable at speed. Every one is different . Im a smaller person. I like the smaller bikes for the street.

I really hope you’ve figured this shit out by now cuz I’ve only been into this for like 2 days and ion even have a bike but you need more teeth in the rear if your gonna be running 10 on your clutch look into a 72 or something but every tooth you add to your clutch essentially takes away 3 from your rear and you need more teeth in the rear for torque if you want more torque but want to keep the speed try switching to a 9 clutch 55 rear or 8 clutch and 57 rear this lets you take away some top speed but adds more torque so you will have more get up from the start

I used to love Max Torque (TM) brand centri clutches when I started building minis and karts around 1986. Maybe its just me but it seems that the same name brand has crapped out in quality over the last 5 years. A genuine max torque used to be able to withstand more than 200 hours of use. Nowadays I have issues with the bearing assembly rounding out and adding way too much play to the driven shell. Even brand new ones shake like crazy with too much end play. I am willing to spend more money on a centrifugal clutch with tighter tolerances and predictable performance. When you are running that fast rpms its crazy to have your chain drive running like pee in the breeze

Ok I need some suggestions. I have a race cart with a 14 tooth clutch with a 66 sprocket. KART tops out at 40 I'm trying to get to the 60 range what should I do. It has very fast take off but stops at about 40mph
You definitely could throw on a smaller sprocket. Check out the kart videos on this channel. We got the kart to almost 70 playing with gearing. ua-cam.com/video/PMOjyg08NII/v-deo.html
@@Black66 I have a 10 teeth clutch never used
@@pacspeed8041 Every tooth bigger on the clutch is equivalent to taking away about 6 on the sprocket .
So you could fit a 15t and 18t without messing with the chain?? This video you said you didn’t have to and in the 18t you said the same.

What would a 10 t clutch and a 60 sprocket
Do u have a idea what pipe that is have same bike and a predator 212 want a center mount pipe like this one
I have a predator 212 with a stage 1 kit and 140 e tube with .36 jet with the govener still in it and I have a 10tooth clutch ans the stock sprocket that comes on the coleman ct200u-ex and with the adapter plate for the other sprockets and the take off was fast and the power was immediate but not fast maybe 25 to 30 but I also am 6'1 250 and it was a wheelie machine but last might I took the adapter plate off and put a bravex performance clutch on it 10 tooth and keep the stock sprocket I think it's a 50 or 52 tooth in the rear and then Ran a straight single Chain and the clutch started smoking when I tried to take off it had no power or rpm but when I got up to speed after like 8 seconds that thing was flying but what do I need to do to make it have more get up out the whole cause I mainly use mine for trail riding and with the setup i have it has no get up out the whole and why was my clutch smoking ?? Would love some feed back thank you
I really hope you’ve figured this shit out by now cuz I’ve only been into this for like 2 days and ion even have a bike but you need more teeth in the rear if your gonna be running 10 on your clutch look into a 72 or something but every tooth you add to your clutch essentially takes away 3 from your rear and you need more teeth in the rear for torque if you want more torque but want to keep the speed try switching to a 9 clutch 55 rear or 8 clutch and 57 rear this lets you take away some top speed but adds more torque so you will have more get up from the start
I have a 75 t sprocket an a 420 chain what ratio should i get

What size is the chain
35 chain
Where did you get it from
Most of the time I will put links in the description on the videos for that parts used.
I just bought a supposedly genuine max torque clutch with a 5/8" shaft for my minibike, and the whole bike shakes a lot in the low/mid-range RPM. I thought it was the engine, but I'll see if the clutch has a bunch of play in it.
Speedometer app use
I use the GPS on the camera and a Dragy performance meter and also an app on the phone called digHUD
What's a good ratio for a ct200u with a 16 in front and a 20 in the back
What is the rated rpm of your engine
That’s way too much gear on a 196cc. A good setup I would recommend for a stock 196cc engine is 8-12 teeth on the clutch and 50 teeth out back.
