I've had my RK55 for over a year and love it. I babied it for a while but it honestly gets used like a piece of rental equipment sometimes and it's still like new. Great tractor
There are times I think “should I have gone ahead and picked up the bigger RK55”? Maybe once we get our home built and I have less concern about damaging a cab model I’ll trade in and get a cab RK55.
Coming up on 300 hours on my RK37 Shuttle Shift..about 2 years now. I like you, was attracted to the price. Being a mechanic, I was familiar with the Yanmar Engine. This sealed the deal for me. I do all my own maintenance and have almost no issues with mine. The minor issues I have had, my dealer promptly helped me address them. I often think to myself if money wasn't an issue, what tractor would I own? I think I would still own my RK37. It's a great tractor!
Surprised I didn't notice the comment earlier, I'm a fan of your channel. My experience so far has been similar, but I am only just about to reach 100 hours. Great powerplant, well built, with all the features I need and more. The closest comparison to me would be motorcycle owners. There are JD and Kubota fanboys just like the Harley Davidson believers (I just sold my Harley, so I understand). Knowing what I know now, I don't think there is any greater value or benefit from those more established tractor manufacturers. I would certainly make the same purchase again, staying in the size and power group. Even if money wasn't a factor, I would still likely have gone with a cabbed RK 55. But that may have even been too big for my access on my property. The RK 37 is about the perfect size in my opinion.

Thats great they stood behind their product and fixed your tractor. That speaks volumes to their service. Thanks for sharing your story. As a J.D 3025e owner I can assure you, you'll save hundreds of dollars on your 50 hour service maintenance. John Deere will tell you upfront to use only their products while servicing your tractor. I had nearly $500.00 in my 50 hour maintenance and i did the servicing myself. Woulda been a lot more had I taken it back to their shop.
$500 for 50 hr service!? Wow, that reinforces my decision on the RK. Knowing I was going to do my own maintenance, I just bought the 50 hr maintenance stuff ($200) when I bought the tractor. I looked at the JD 30 series, and they are great machines. I was even almost tempted by the 4066R. Only time will tell if it was the right choice.
I’ve been trying to find a TYM t25 locally for a while now. Your video helped me to consider the RK more now. We have 2 RK stores and a distribution center within 40 minutes of our location… subscribed and going to check out a few more videos before heading to work. 💪🏻

absolutely love your channel and your RK 37, i have a deere 23E, and looking at a RK 25 its more wider and tons more options, looking into selling my john deere 23E. and we have a Rural King 3 miles from my house and i went and looked at one yesterday and absolutely loved it. keep up the good work my friend.
I considered the RK tractors, in my area, there are 2 main dealerships that can provide relatively quick response if needed. John Deere and Kubota. The Kubota was less expensive and they had a tractor plus 2 of the implements I wanted on site. The 3rd Implement was 2 weeks out for delivery. The John Deere was 10-12 weeks out for the tractor and 6 months out on implements. So, guess what I went with. The Kubota B2601 is a great machine and does everything I want it to do and more. The RK equivalent was less expensive, but Lord knows when I would have gotten it. And if I needed support, not sure how much I would get. My Kubota dealer is less than 10 mikes away and they come out and diagnose for free.
That makes sense. I purchased my RK before the supply chains started to get significantly impacted from COVID. They had my tractor in within a few days. Hopefully once things get back to ‘normal’ all dealers won’t just rely on just-in-time supply systems.
Hi Bob! Yes, I built the toothbar from a kit on Amazon. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JSH5KZU. I couldn't justify the cost to purchase of a preassembled or something like the Everything Attachments Piranha Toothbar, and then include shipping. I spent 240ish and welded it up to my custom size. However, it is a lot of additional steel and it is HEAVY. The RK 37 can handle it no problem, but its not light duty. I knew I would need it for the dirt work I knew I was going to be doing and dealing with a bunch of roots. Very glad I made it, couldn't imagine not having it, especially a bolt on bar. With that said, if you are primarily planning on doing more light material handling than my heavier usage, I would suggest trying your new bucket out as is for a bit and see if it is necessary. If I was just doing gravel or other easier materials then I would be taking it off.
My experience with RK service since getting an RK25 a few weeks ago hasn't been great. They are friendly and helpful as possible but they only have one technician for tractors. When I was needing my 50 hour service, he was starting his vacation and getting married. I postponed it about a week and then found out he got covid on his honeymoon and had also turned in a notice to quit. He was going to come to my house on his own time once he got better but I was already pushing 60 hours so went ahead and did the service myself. I doubt they even have a replacement technician right now. I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker for me but luckily I haven't needed any warranty work.
I imagine that as they get more tractors out the door Rural King will hopefully increase their service capacity. I planned to perform my own 50 hour service to save some $. I like to do that kind of stuff anyways.
@@joshblick Manufacturer recommends letting them do the first service so they can make sure everything is breaking in properly. Other than that I was going to do them myself.
That's great thing about kioti, it is super easy to work on. Everything on it is just parts from bigger industrial machines that you don't just load up and take to a dealer. Infield repair and maintenance. Love my ck3510 hst. And highest lift, hydro flow, weight, and torque in its class. And 8 grand less then a kubota that isn't as good.

Price, quality, proximity of service centers, etc. I have a 25hp Mahindra eMax and I love it. It has held up very well. But just isn't big enough to fit all my needs... so right now I'm looking at adding an RK55 into the mix. That way I have both big and small applications covered lol. Now if I can just find the money in the budget... *cough* 🤠
That would be a good combo. I was seriously considering the 55, but when it came down to the price, I went with the 37 and a whole package of implements and attachments that would have been harder to put together later. If I needed bigger now, I’d probably add a tracked machine. Too bad RK doesn’t do excavators
Hey thx for the great review. I am working on buying the RK25 in the next 6 months and have been doing a lot of research on Rural King and their tractors. I have found mostly all great reviews on them. But of course you will always get the knit picker reviews. Overall they are looking like a very good Sub Compact tractor

I've researched these for over a year and you're right about the price of the other companies. A similarly built green tractor would have been at least $10k more. I was drawn in by the "this is our product, this is the cost, here is what you get." Being made by TYM and rebranded still means that there is a presence of the manufacturer in the States. Some manufacturers beat around the bush about where their tractors are built. Larger companies cant profit making smaller machines and like you said are "sourced" from global components. Is it really "made in America" if all the parts are from over seas? A family member recently bought a Branson 25hp (similar size tractor) and it didn't come with the loaded tires. Now he has to trailer the tractor and pay a few hundred dollars to get that done. Side note though, I have been eyeing a flail mower over the brush hog. I wasn't impressed by the cut of the brush hog or its ability to clear debris. From everything I've seen the flail mower will do more in a smaller size and more efficiently.

Do you use your backhoe enough? I've been considering one on my next tractor purchase, but I'm just not sure I'd use it enough to justify the cost (and the storage space in the building!). It would have been nice to be able to consider Kioti, but not really an option here. I have used my backhoe a lot. Definitely worth the purchase for me, because of the amount of digging I have had to do and more yet. In two years I might not use it much once my our rural home is built. It certainly wasn’t a cheap attachment, but worth the price for us. If you aren’t certain about how much you would use it, I wouldn’t recommend getting one. I knew I was going to heavily use mine. It’s an expensive yard/shop ornament otherwise.
I rented a mini-excavator for a week for about a quarter of the backhoe cost. If I only forecasted a few projects over multiple years, I would just have stuck with renting digging machines. However, I have a continuous need for digging because of the terrain and aspects of my property in addition to us planning on building a new home. And I might still have to do other digging equipment rentals because of the backhoe size limitations. If it’s not an easy yes, I wouldn’t purchase. Smart woman!
Well a year later are you still liking it??I’m looking for a tractor probably right around same size and thought about RK of course I’m within hour+ from to RK’s but now I’ve never seen a service department at either one..but that doesn’t concern me to much simply because of the yanmar engine and most of local dealers that sale green red tractors have yanmar engines and I either do my own work and I’ve got local tractor mechanics..but I’m like you I don’t use a tractor every day it’s just land maintenance gardening food plots and personally I’m color blind and after I get one the name on the side can say joe dirt!!my mahindra 30hp gets moved about 4 times a year so yea I’m not looking to pay 15-20G more for a color of paint to use no more than 4-5 times a year..yea I know if I had front bucket it would probably get moved more..thanks for honesty
Vincent,exactly what tractor is "made in America"? Not JD, foreign engines, chassis made in India. Kubota ( Japanese) has final assembly plants in North Georgia. Literally no tractor is 100% made in USA.
With the filled wheels and ballast on the back, it does pretty well. I have taken it on some decent slopes no problem, but scared the crap out of me. The four wheel drive system feels super solid and makes it seem easy. I have gotten into some problems with sliding sideways in tight spots on good slopes. I slid, but felt stable. Think that has more to do with the R4 industrial tires and heavy clay content. With different tires I would probably be even more confident.

That was a kit I bought off Amazon and welded together custom for my specific use. Have had several questions about it now, so I think I’ll have to do a video on it soon.

The big names like Deere or Kubota or even to a lesser degree new Holland and Mahindra, you pat a little more (sometimes more than a little more) but it comes back in resale value . It you take care and maintain a tractor it should be passed down generations. Plenty of tractors on farms that have been in use for 20-30 years and still going. I still have my grandfather's old international harvester 584 that he bought used in the 1990s and used it to hay fields for 100 cattle and its still strong as ever. The only ones to me to be Leary about would be a new company like the summits or bad boy tractors, maybe nice today but who's to say they will be in business 10-15 years from now? If Pontiac and Saturn can go.out of business after years anyone can. And if that happens with a tractor brand good.luck finding parts and service. Where as some brands of all colors have been making tractors for 100+ years, survived the pandemic, world wars and great depression, so those companies aren't going anywhere.
Hi Insta, Rural King works with Redstone Federal Credit Union for their in house financing. Their current rates and terms are advertised on the RK Tractors webpage. They usually go out to 84 mos.
@@HeideHomestead mine was for 84 months with the financing the price is still 2000cheaper than kobota but of course the faster I pay the more I'll save. I down loaded redstone app and set up auto pay and will make extra payments when I have em no fees for early payoff
Kubota are definitely nice machines. Not sure of percentages manufactured in Japan vs USA, either way is a win. Quality is quality. Even if they are mostly built in Japan, a lot of assembling happens here in US, so still makes lots of US jobs
For some equipment, I care about resale because of expected lifespans. For a tractor, I don’t plan on selling it because it’s a legit efficient tank of a machine. I look at it as something I will fix and run until it can’t be fixed anymore. If anything, I might add another machine eventually. These machines are anything but disposable! Well, I guess if you treat a machine like trash that’s what you’ll get. Same with John Deere or any other brand.
If you’re planning to trade, I completely agree. I’m not sure if there are enough used RK tractors in the market to get good resale rates. Most used sales I’ve found have been from auctions, likely repossessions from people not paying the loans. But I would agree, if I were planning on resale, I would go green
Mike no one cares that you trade every few years or resale value. All the work that man is doing that machine will pay for itself. I was raised on a farm 8n massey t.o.35 perkins. And still have them 8n is 71 years old.
@@leeohare9361 I was stating resale value on junk made overseas. My father inlaw bought 2 3010 John deeres back in the 60s and they are worth 3 to 4 times what he paid for them today. That is resale value. Smart people do care about resale value. It's just simply smart business.
Why do you think so? Have you had experience with Rural King tractor service? I’m no fan boy and trying to be objective. I’ll agree on what I think is a quality product, but I have only had good experiences so far with the service. I guess I also have the perspective that owning a utility machine like a tractor requires a certain amount of self-service. There are some parts of owning and using a tractor we need to be able to take care of as owners. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Honestly, I didn’t know the answer if that was true or not. So I just called and spoke with my local Rural King about it (again, great service). They do everything they possibly can in the local service, even major repairs. If there is a problem that requires say a full engine or transmission replacement, the tractor may have to be sent to their TAC, or tractor assembly center for a full tear tear down and rebuild. That makes sense to me because the TAC would have all the necessary parts and components. I used to work in the automotive parts business as a manager and know first hand that repair times are often driven by parts availability. So that seems reasonable for full rebuilds or replacements. Just to clarify, that wouldn’t be outsourcing, that is still internal to Rural King tractors. Hope that helps!
That would be a plus for sure, but so far I haven't found a compact tractor that is truly American made. The large majority of these tractor brands are manufactured in South Korea and rebranded. Unfortunately due to political agendas of our corrupt govt. the U.S. has fallen behind in technology and manufacturing. There's nothing wrong at all with the quality of these S. Korean built tractors as they have now caught up to and seem to be on par with the japan made equipment.

You need to get a service manual and learn to do it yourself like he does, I do, and a lot of other people that live in the middle of nowhere lol

Well a year later are you still liking it??I’m looking for a tractor probably right around same size and thought about RK of course I’m within hour+ from to RK’s but now I’ve never seen a service department at either one..but that doesn’t concern me to much simply because of the yanmar engine and most of local dealers that sale green red tractors have yanmar engines and I either do my own work and I’ve got local tractor mechanics..but I’m like you I don’t use a tractor every day it’s just land maintenance gardening food plots and personally I’m color blind and after I get one the name on the side can say joe dirt!!my mahindra 30hp gets moved about 4 times a year so yea I’m not looking to pay 15-20G more for a color of paint to use no more than 4-5 times a year..yea I know if I had front bucket it would probably get moved more..thanks for honesty

Vincent,exactly what tractor is "made in America"? Not JD, foreign engines, chassis made in India. Kubota ( Japanese) has final assembly plants in North Georgia. Literally no tractor is 100% made in USA.

I am in Tennessee, hills and trees. Hills, mellow and also steep. How does it run on steep grade? thanks for the info/ review.
With the filled wheels and ballast on the back, it does pretty well. I have taken it on some decent slopes no problem, but scared the crap out of me. The four wheel drive system feels super solid and makes it seem easy. I have gotten into some problems with sliding sideways in tight spots on good slopes. I slid, but felt stable. Think that has more to do with the R4 industrial tires and heavy clay content. With different tires I would probably be even more confident.

That (the RK37) has the exact same engine of the JD of the same size. Just saying.
What tooth bar did you put on that bucket?
That was a kit I bought off Amazon and welded together custom for my specific use. Have had several questions about it now, so I think I’ll have to do a video on it soon.
@@HeideHomestead I'll have to subscribe. Gonna be getting a tractor hopefully in the next year. I'm thinking about getting a Bobcat bucket bite tooth bar since I work for a Bobcat dealer. Uses top pin Bobcat teeth. Seems pretty nice for my discounted price.
The big names like Deere or Kubota or even to a lesser degree new Holland and Mahindra, you pat a little more (sometimes more than a little more) but it comes back in resale value . It you take care and maintain a tractor it should be passed down generations. Plenty of tractors on farms that have been in use for 20-30 years and still going. I still have my grandfather's old international harvester 584 that he bought used in the 1990s and used it to hay fields for 100 cattle and its still strong as ever. The only ones to me to be Leary about would be a new company like the summits or bad boy tractors, maybe nice today but who's to say they will be in business 10-15 years from now? If Pontiac and Saturn can go.out of business after years anyone can. And if that happens with a tractor brand good.luck finding parts and service. Where as some brands of all colors have been making tractors for 100+ years, survived the pandemic, world wars and great depression, so those companies aren't going anywhere.
Anything Kubota is top notch but man alive how does anyone afford them??
You get it back in resale value with a Kubota or John Deere

Hi Insta, Rural King works with Redstone Federal Credit Union for their in house financing. Their current rates and terms are advertised on the RK Tractors webpage. They usually go out to 84 mos.
@@HeideHomestead mine was for 84 months with the financing the price is still 2000cheaper than kobota but of course the faster I pay the more I'll save. I down loaded redstone app and set up auto pay and will make extra payments when I have em no fees for early payoff

Kubota are definitely nice machines. Not sure of percentages manufactured in Japan vs USA, either way is a win. Quality is quality. Even if they are mostly built in Japan, a lot of assembling happens here in US, so still makes lots of US jobs
Resale is not there. Basically its a throw away.
For some equipment, I care about resale because of expected lifespans. For a tractor, I don’t plan on selling it because it’s a legit efficient tank of a machine. I look at it as something I will fix and run until it can’t be fixed anymore. If anything, I might add another machine eventually. These machines are anything but disposable! Well, I guess if you treat a machine like trash that’s what you’ll get. Same with John Deere or any other brand.

If you’re planning to trade, I completely agree. I’m not sure if there are enough used RK tractors in the market to get good resale rates. Most used sales I’ve found have been from auctions, likely repossessions from people not paying the loans. But I would agree, if I were planning on resale, I would go green
Mike no one cares that you trade every few years or resale value. All the work that man is doing that machine will pay for itself. I was raised on a farm 8n massey t.o.35 perkins. And still have them 8n is 71 years old.
@@leeohare9361 I was stating resale value on junk made overseas. My father inlaw bought 2 3010 John deeres back in the 60s and they are worth 3 to 4 times what he paid for them today. That is resale value. Smart people do care about resale value. It's just simply smart business.

Why do you think so? Have you had experience with Rural King tractor service? I’m no fan boy and trying to be objective. I’ll agree on what I think is a quality product, but I have only had good experiences so far with the service. I guess I also have the perspective that owning a utility machine like a tractor requires a certain amount of self-service. There are some parts of owning and using a tractor we need to be able to take care of as owners. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@HeideHomestead from what i understand is they do routine service. Anything major they outsource.
Honestly, I didn’t know the answer if that was true or not. So I just called and spoke with my local Rural King about it (again, great service). They do everything they possibly can in the local service, even major repairs. If there is a problem that requires say a full engine or transmission replacement, the tractor may have to be sent to their TAC, or tractor assembly center for a full tear tear down and rebuild. That makes sense to me because the TAC would have all the necessary parts and components. I used to work in the automotive parts business as a manager and know first hand that repair times are often driven by parts availability. So that seems reasonable for full rebuilds or replacements. Just to clarify, that wouldn’t be outsourcing, that is still internal to Rural King tractors. Hope that helps!

That would be a plus for sure, but so far I haven't found a compact tractor that is truly American made. The large majority of these tractor brands are manufactured in South Korea and rebranded. Unfortunately due to political agendas of our corrupt govt. the U.S. has fallen behind in technology and manufacturing. There's nothing wrong at all with the quality of these S. Korean built tractors as they have now caught up to and seem to be on par with the japan made equipment.
